A wonderful place to stay for a girls weekend. The house is amazing with everything you need for a great weekend. The farmers market on the Saturday was a great surprise right outside our door.
Thank you for such a beautiful accommodation with the historical charm combined with modern comfort. We appreciated the small details like the fresh flowers in several rooms, loved the fireplaces and the outdoor bath, while the kids had a great time exploring the available toys and books!
The lovely old bank is located in the wide Main Street of Lancefield. It is set in a pretty peaceful garden. It retains all the features of the original building including soaring ceilings in the lounge and main bedroom. The main lounge is a lovely peaceful space to gather and relax in behind thick walks and large high set windows which give privacy from the road The dining room and connecting spaces all look into the garden through large glass doors. The amenities of the town are all a short stroll away including good coffee, tasty snacks and friendly hosts at the Aspey just across the road. Great location for touring the local area. Host was responsive, helpful and reliable. The property was clean, attractively presented and well provisioned with all basic necessities. Our bed was comfortable and made up with fresh linen. We were a family group of 3.
Superb property, location and experience. Everything you need to cook and/ or relax. Thank you for helpful us enjoy my Mother's birthday! We will be back!
Beautiful historic property- very comfortable and clean with everything you need. Great location. We all enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day.
The property was perfect, clean, cosy and comfy. Close to everything we wanted to do in the region. The owner's communication was excellent. Would definitely stay again.
Loved this accomodation from the moment we walked in. This might be the first place I’ve stayed that looked even better in person than in the listed photos. We had a wonderful stay, thank you so much <3
The atmosphere of the old bank is stunning, the entire family really enjoyed the property and being walking distance from everything in town made the entire stay an absolute joy. Lisa was also very accommodating and quick to help where ever she could!
we stayed 2 nights to attend a wedding close by. the venue was very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and very well set up. Sunday late checkout was an unexpected bonus. highly recommend, but note only 1 real bathroom which was just ok for the 5 of us
We were travelling to attend my son's wedding and were treated to the beauty and convenience of this Lancefield property for a "home base." Highly recommend, and we were sorry to have to leave. Thank you from all of us.
This place is pure luxury with history!
We loved this house and it's character. Outdoor bath a treat.
House has everything you need. Child friendly (front and back year enclosed, toy chest etc).
We had such a fantastic time we requested to stay another evening at short notice and Lisa quickly communicated back to us. Divine art on all of the walls. Highly recommended.
Outstanding property that was accurately described in the promotional narrative. I booked on behalf of a family overseas friends. I viewed the property on their arrival and was very pleased. We saw our friends each day for three days and they were very happy. Thank you, Lisa.
Everything you have read is true. This is one of the most amazing homes we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in many. Location in the middle of the town of Lancefield. Five minute walk to the Lost Watering Hole Brewery who serve excellent food and drink. On the Sunday morning the monthly farmers market was on too. The house itself is beautifully furnished, had everything we needed and was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. As Molly used to say “ do yourself a favour”. This is it.
We rented this place for our bridal party and the night of our wedding. Beautiful place but no communication from the owner as to how to property should be left on the emailed check in instructions OR on the listing. Owner referred to a piece of paper of the fridge. Not really good enough.
Owner also sent through photos of us at the property, I wonder about the privacy concerns around this. The property was beautiful but would not return or recommend. Owner is quite rude and inconsiderate and proceeded to hound us the day after our wedding.
Beautiful history & a relaxing stay. Some improvements needed.
Overall, this was a wonderful stay & the property is lovely with rich history. We enjoyed the beautiful fire, hydronic heating, garden, games, outdoor bath, library & lovely beds. We walked in to a nice warm house & loved lounging by the fire. The outdoor bath is a real treat & the garden is lovely. 4pm checkout was a delight & just unheard of. We loved making an extra day of our stay. Being so close to the town was also wonderful to visit the lovely shops & cafes. The kitchen is fairly well stocked for what you would need. Some utensils need updating (eg the measuring cup leaks).
The downsides:
Cleanliness isn’t fantastic. Definitely needs a deep clean (especially ceilings). I agree with the previous review that the cleaning list isn’t included in the emailed instructions and only found on a piece of paper which is easily missed. If being hounded like the previous person posted is the result of missing this, you really wouldn’t want to! There’s cameras on the property that watch you coming in and out, in the garden etc. I have stayed at hundreds of accommodations throughout the world and have never seen this. It’s an awful feeling walking in the door or exploring the garden and feeling watched. Really detracts from the privacy and safety of a holiday. Also reading that the host used these negatively by sending footage and pictures to previous guests as “proof” of what they did wrong really makes me uneasy.
Wonderful stay at Lancefield. Property is exactly as described, if no better. Spacious, great beds! all mod cons, warm and everything worked perfectly . Loved the high ceilings and feeling of privacy provided by high windows facing street!) Host Lisa was very helpful and accommodating and late Sunday check out option was perfect

About the host

Hi, I'm Lisa! My husband and I are avid fans of historic buildings, especially in regional Victoria. We were absolutely thrilled to purchase the former National Bank of Australasia in Lancefield a few years ago and love learning about its history, finding photos from its heyday and sharing all of this with our guests. In addition to this very special property I also own and manage two coastal holiday properties on the Mornington Peninsula. I really enjoy creating holiday homes that are just how my own family likes them: fresh, stylish, comfortable, well supplied and easy to spend time in - I hope you enjoy this one too.
Why they chose this property
The Lancefield Branch was hugely appealing to us for its unique features such as beautiful ceilings, arched windows, imposing facade, and rambling country garden. There is always an interesting or cosy corner to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
The Lancefield Branch offers guests the chance to stay in one of Lancefield's prominent historic properties. This is boutique accommodation for guests seeking something a little bit special, a treat, or the perfect relaxation getaway. Located right on High St, you are within strolling distance of Lancefield's charms in any direction, whether it be dining, bookshops, homewares, or gifts. Enjoy the beauty of Lancefield's wide tree-lined streets, and gracious period homes. The farmers market (third Saturday of the month) sets up right out the front of The Lancefield Branch, full of delicious produce, plants, wines and foods almost right on your doorstep. Lancefield also offers a public outdoor pool, skate ramp, wonderful children's playground, and sports fields at Lancefield Park. All of this without even starting the car!
