Avoid staying here at all costs

We arrived and the entire resort smelled of sewage from the horrid seaweed issue on their beach area which made us physically sick and their systems were also down so they were not able to check us in when we arrived after traveling all day so they sent us to the restaurant which was closed down and then we got yelled at by a time share sales lady bc mask fell below my nose for a brief second while in the lobby. They made us wait to check in for over 30 mins before anyone even acknowledged us. Entire resort amenities were closed for our entire stay. No pool, no bar, no coffee shop, no beach, no restaurant, no nothing and they did nothing to accommodate for the closures. Didn’t even offer guests water for their rooms. I will absolutely never EVER stay there again. All the hotel staff were rude and no one did anything to offer refunds, etc to help accommodate all the additional costs we incurred having to leave property in cabs to eat and enjoy the beach every day. The property Mgr also responded saying they would do nothing to help us either. It was honestly the worst trip ever! I have absolutely nothing good to say other than the floor plan of our room was nice. I would steer clear of this resort. The surrounding areas around the resort are Rough too. Coki beach which is the closest beach was awful too with tons of drugs, etc.

March 2020 Stay

Our experience at the Margaritaville in St Thomas was a great one. The staff did a great job in the face of the Covid 19 situation that really kicked into full gear during our stay. They answered our questions and made us feel very comfortable during the duration of our stay. The property was extremely clean and beautiful. Our family looks forward to visiting again under different circumstances.

What makes this property unique

St. Thomas is not suitable for walking as a means of getting around and it is for the most part not hitchhiking friendly. Exploring the island requires motored transportation. Rental Agencies are located at the airport, walking distance from the main cruise ship dock and at large resorts. Having your own transportation will make sightseeing, beach hopping, dining, shopping and exploring the island much more convenient. Inter-island travel is facilitated by reliable ferry service and commuter airlines. They start running at 5.15 am from town and end at 8.00 pm from Red Hook. City buses travel starting at 6.15 am until 8:00 pm. The first bus from the Airport to town is at 6am and the last is 8:00 pm. Country Bus Fare $1 and City Bus $.75. There are taxi drivers that run ‘dollar rides’ in safari buses. The ‘dollar rides’ do not have signs identifying them as such; however they generally run the same route as the public bus and pull in or close to bus stops. Some ‘dollar ride’ drivers charge non-residents regular taxi rates. Dollar rides are $1 for short trips such as anywhere in town between the UVI and the Hospital. The fare is $2 for longer cross-island trips like: traveling from the Hospital to Pricesmart and beyond.
