We enjoyed our stay because the July mountain air was almost 20° cooler than the air where we live. Looking for dates in the future.

Nice place with a couple mishaps
The place was nice and we enjoyed our stay for the most part. Just a few things worth noting....the kitchen/main area reeked of a sulfuric/rotten egg smell that seemed to be coming from the kitchen sink, but we couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Mentioned in the email about the stay, but not the VRBO listing is that the doors to the porch are jammed shut so they can't be opened. We would have loved to have been able to go on the porch. We couldn't get the TV in the bedroom to work. We tried unplugging and plugging back in and made sure that everything was connected properly, but still couldn't get it to work. My main concern was that we woke up one morning to someone in the cabin. It was TERRIFYING. Nothing was said about anyone coming by during our stay. We paid a lot of money to enjoy a nice uninterrupted trip. We were woken up to a man in the cabin (had put in the code or had a key to unlock the main door) and was at the bottom of the stairs trying to open the door that was locked by a chain. Thank goodness for the chain lock because that man could have easily just walked in our bedroom if it wasn't for that. It ended up being someone from a heating and cooling company there to change the air filter, which isn't urgent and should be done when the house is vacant or the owners are staying there. I highly recommend the area/neighborhood but I wouldn't stay in this cabin again solely for the fact that a stranger unexpectedly walked in unannounced.

Cabin in in the Sky
Our host was fabulous with directions and answering any and all concerns. The Cabin was clean, roomy, and views were great. Bed very comfortable. Great fire pit and lounging area outside. While the description is accurate on VRBO. Just FYI- The 5.6 mile trekking up the mountain is exactly that, trekking. The Road while paved is steep with several hairpin turns and at times limited visibility. I would suggest at check-in to arrive while still daylight and get a feel for the drive. if you are afraid of heights(as my husband is) It proves to be quite the story after the fact. 🤣 After a couple days the trek up and down got better or shall I say we got better. 😆 Eagles Nest Resort amenities offered a wide range of activities from playgrounds to a Winery and everything in between making it a great place to stay for everyone. I will be back!

Property was very clean and well kept. 30 min drive to most attractions and skiing. Drive up mountain to get to cabin was a little treacherous during the snow but doable in a 4wd. Washer and dryer would have been nice.

Cute cabin
The property was very clean and accommodating. I didn't receive the email regarding the directions but the owner called me right away and sent me the email again. Cabin included everything we needed. The property had a ton of amdenities but the winery charged a 25$ entry fee. I will say we were disappointed that the deck was off limits, we probably wouldn't have booked the rental if we knew this. It wasn't listed on vrbo that it was off limits. Another con was that we had to bring away our own garbage. We could not find the dumpsters and ended up driving home with the trash inside the car.

Loved the wood stove
There is construction going on in the area whereas they were not noisy but I did have to look at construction trailers when I walked onto balcony. Duvet cover had no duvet. Only two small towels for two people and 3 nights and no washer/dryer. Shower curtain liner was moldy. Swivel recliner was broken. Didn't love the furnishings but it was ok. It just needs alittle TLC. Loved the wood stove though. Absolutely love the Lodges at Eagles Nest.

Fall at Eagles Nest, Banner Elk
WOW... what a gem!!! Impressive gated community for those who love the outdoors! Upon arrival the grounds were well groomed and clean. A cute little fire pit/ring awaits for many conversations to be had. The Belle chalet is petite in size but makes up for with its cuteness. Perfect size for 2 adults and 2 Golden Retrievers! There is a pull out couch if you have 2 small kids and an air up mattress. We used the small wood burning Air Tight to heat the house as it got down into the 30’s. The house is electric air/heat. We bought cut wood at Publix’s in Boone. Banner Elk is an adorable little town with several restaurants. The Lodges at Eagles Nest has live music every weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day and on occasion thru Halloween. We drive a Nissan Murano and had no issues even though some switchbacks were a bit steep. The chalet sits on a very level/flat lot and hiking everywhere! You can even rent a ATV to off road on the trails. The chalet was extremely clean and had a few necessities like dish soap, coffee filters & body wash/shampoo. All utensils, stocked kitchen and a shuffleboard for entertainment. No big view of the mountains but a few hundred feet from amazing views. Construction going on in the neighborhood but not an issue. Internet worked GREAT! Cell service with Verizon on the mountain was obsolete/ sporadic. We will definitely return and return to this same home... if we don’t buy one before. CHEERS to Fall!

Cozy retreat in a beautiful retreat.
The property on which this unit is on is gorgeous. Has many areas where you can go to see beautiful vistas, except from the unit itself. There is mini golf, concerts on Sat. evenings but it is a 15 min. drive from gate to the unit. It's at least another 20 min. to a grocery store. So if you want to be in the midst of things like restaurants and downtown this might not be your spot. We tried to only go one time a day off property. We saw a bear, lots of deer. There is on going construction, but they did tell us about that before we got there. This area has a lot of building going on all around it. We were gone most of the days so it did not bother us too much. It's not fancy but clean and functional.
