About this property
High Set Timber Pavilion Home on Rainforest property in Cape Tribulation
Beautiful architect designed high set timber pole home in Cape Tribulation, a short 5 minute drive from beaches, boardwalk, cafes, restaurants and tours. The house is designed for tropical living with glass louvres throughout to catch the cool breezes from Mount Sorrow. The upstairs has a large open plan living area, dining and kitchen with stunning timber floors, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with an enormous Superking bed, the second bedroom currently has a single bed (will be changing to Queen shortly) and the third bed has a single bed. Timber bifold doors in the living/dining area open up to a huge deck area covered with shade sail, perfect for BBQ's. Down stairs is space for parking cars undercover or hanging out. There is an additional superking room, bathroom and office downstairs that are the owners and will be locked.
The house is set in a clearing surrounded by rainforest and the garden has a gravel area with fire pit, perfect for a glass of wine and chillax after a days exploring. There is also a trampoline.
There is satellite internet at the house which is data limited to ensure guests throughout the month have access. We do provide a hard drive with movies and plenty of board games to keep you entertained!
Cape Tribulation has no mains power, water or mobile reception. Due to the challenges of living ‘off grid’ and supplying power via a solar & hyrdo standalone power system, we ask that during your stay you are conscious of your power usage.
Please turn off fans, lights, TV etc when out for the day to allow the batteries a chance to recharge from the solar and hyrdo sources. Hot water is via a solar system.
Please note that generator noise from mine or from my neighbour's power system may be heard during your stay. Unfortunately this is a fact of life for stand alone renewable energy systems in a high rainfall, canopied area like the Daintree Rainforest and the reason why we campaign hard for a micro grid in the area. Generators operate within council guidelines for noise between 7am and 10pm though will usually only run 3pm to 10pm every few days.
There is another building on the property (Black Palm Spa Cabin) that is holiday let. The driveway and property past the turn off to the house are exclusive use of Black Palm Spa cabin guests.

Tess is a Pommie who travelled to the Daintree in 2003, met her fair dinkum Ozzie and settled down to live happily ever after with their two (now not so little) Pozzies. Chris & Tess built the house in 2008 and then the Black Palm Spa Cabin was a labour of love, several years in the planning and building squeezed in around the children, work and remote rainforest living!
The not so little Pozzies are now in high school in Cairns and the happily ever after wasn’t to be, so its all change! The property is up for sale and Tess is still running the Black Palm Spa Cabin and now holiday letting the family home whilst commuting between Cape Trib & Cairns until new owners take over living the dream!
