The hosts were very helpful, thoughtful and responsive. They clearly have tried hard to think of everything to enhance their guests visit. The house was clean, comfortable and convenient. We did not take advantage of all the extras that were provided for their guests, but there are many. Everything was very neat, the deck was large and beautiful and had a nice usable grill. Although the photos do not show the washer and dryer in the basement, we were pleased that they were in excellent condition and that the basement was clean, dry and neat.
The house was as advertised. There were bikes, kayaks and foosball! We brought our own bikes so can't vouch to the condition of those at the house, but they were plentiful. (Make sure to get out onto the Shining Sea trail!) There were two 2-person kayaks, and one 1-person one for a smallish person. One oar was missing when we got there, but we replaced the oar (Joanne repaid us), and we took advantage of all of the kayaks over the course of the week. The back of the seat in the single kayak and a seat in one of the two person kayaks did not have strapping that supported them for very long, but we reported this to Joanne, and I imagine she will have them repaired in short order. (She was always responsive and quick to return our calls.) The ability to kayak on the lake (right at the end of the street) was wonderful.
We enjoyed eating on the back deck. We didn't find a lobster pot, but the fish store will steam them for you, so not a problem. The house was cool, the beds and couch comfortable. It's an older home with an older kitchen, so no dishwasher, but most everything else one needs. Good to have a washer and dryer in the basement available for use.
We had never stayed on this part of the Cape before, but enjoyed what it had to offer and this sweet home. Thank you, Joanne!
House was great! Location was perfect for us. Enjoyed the back deck many days after the beach. Bikes and kayaks were there for our use. Joanne was a great host, even let us know about the seals at the aquarium in Woods Hole which the kids really enjoyed. Will definitely be back.
Great location. Owners were very easy to work with. Beach pass would have been nice. We used bikes to go to the beach, and drivers in area were not biker friendly!
Two 2-adult households had as much privacy as desired with plenty of space in living room, kitchen & deck for the four of us to relax and/or eat together. We loved the fusbol, the proximity to Great Pond, shops, beaches & restaurants. The mattresses were so comfortable!
The location was perfect for walking, and close to the beach and stores. The beds were very comfortable and the house is cool under large shade trees. The owners have organized the house for a perfect vacation from kitchen to a shed with beach supplies, bikes and kayaks.
Joanne was a very straight forward and very accommodating host. Her response time was always fast and clear.
My husband and I walked along the scenic and quiet Great Bay Street path to get to the beach everyday (about 30 min), while my sister's family drove with the kids (about 5 min).
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. It was the perfect location for us with other family members staying nearby.
We did not end up using the bikes or kayaks, but will definitely put this on the agenda for another year.
The bedroom situation was also great for our combined family to use: 2 queen size bedrooms downstairs and a suite-like situation upstairs for the bigger family with kids to share.
The outside patio and yard are large for the kids to run around and play.
We will definitely be back.
Thank you, Joanne!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Marivista neighborhood. The house was very comfortable, the large deck perfect for relaxing in the shade and BBQing, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The salt water pond was just down the street and sea kayaks provided by the hosts. Cycling in the area was also lots of fun. The hosts had a range of bicycles and the path followed the coastline to local beaches. We rarely needed the A/C, but it did come in handy. We would definitely stay here again.
Joanne's place in Falmouth is amazing. We found the bedrooms to be spacious and the beds really comfortable. The bathrooms were sparkling clean. The kitchen was well-equipped so we could cook any meal we wanted during our stay. The deck had a gas grill that we used in the evenings. Joanne also provided a large selection of bicycles (around 10 I believe) for our trips to the beach and three kayaks we could take to the pond at the end of the street.
In addition, Joanne was always responsive whenever we had a question. She was a very welcoming host. We are looking forward to returning to her place on our next trip to Falmouth.
