About this property

Fully updated home on Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Lawson’s Place overlooks Seneca Lake and is directly on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York. The house is surrounded by vineyards in a quiet farming region and located directly next to Glenora Winery and Tin Barn Brewery.

Lawson’s Place sits on 1.3 acres of land right on Route 14 in Dundee, NY, about 10 minutes from Watkins Glen, 15 minutes to Penn Yan, and 30 minutes to Geneva. The home was recently remodeled and comfortably accommodates 8 people with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a game room with a futon. There are three TVs with cable and an Xbox One in the game room. We provide towels, washcloths, and bed linens. The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, glass ware, and utensils. We also have a coffee maker, oven, microwave, dishwasher and everything else you would need in a kitchen.

Our most popular amenities is the sunroom overlooking the lake that has a fantastic view of the sunrise over the lake, an outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs, a gas grill, a game room with an Xbox One with a dozen games, 3 HDTVs, fast internet, a full kitchen, and tons of space.

Many of the area’s attractions are easily accessible from Lawson’s Place, whether your interests are focused on world-class wine and other craft food and beverage sampling, state parks and the area’s many waterfalls, museums, auto racing, agri-tourism, biking, swimming, boating and hiking, fine dining, and/or live entertainment. Literally there is something for everyone.

While many people love being surrounded by vineyards, they are real producing vineyards and the farmers utilize cannons to scare away birds during harvest time in September and October. It can be a bit jarring when you first hear them, but you forget them pretty quickly. Also, we make use of well water and do not have access to city water. We have a very large water storage system in the basement but if you leave water on, you run the risk of running the well dry.

The property was as advertised. It is very conveniently located near to a lot of wineries. We loved the fire ring at night and the beds were very comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Long weekend visits to wineries
The house is wonderful. Sleeps four couples (8 adults) comfortably. The location is excellent for wineries. We enjoyed the house: its size, rooms and amenities. Only concern is the driveway entrance could be improved with a little maintenance and widening. Great place to enjoy the area, the incredible views and relax with friends.

Wedding Weekend
This house is a great location. We were spending the weekend at Seneca Lake to enjoy our son‘s wedding. While the wedding was held at Glenora, which is right across the street, the rehearsal dinner was held at the Tin Barn Brewery, which is right next to this property. The property was clean and has everything you need for your stay. We enjoyed it very much.

The property was as advertised. At times we had 10 people in the house and it never felt crowded. There was no lack of amenities. The location is great. Close to many wineries, state parks, etc. I would heartily recommend this property

We stayed here for the Musselman triathlon. House was wonderful. Beautiful views!
The layout worked well for our group- large kitchen and porch were a bonus. Great access to many vineyards. Hosts were easy to work with. Definitely recommend. Appreciate that they are transparent about the busy road in front. It does get loud.

First visit to Seneca Lake
Great family vacation in a new area for us. The house was large enough for 8 adults & a 15 month old. Lots of room to spread out but also nice large areas to congregate. Perfect location! Close to so many different areas to explore. The parks & scenery were fantastic! Loved the wineries & breweries! Suggestion would be to include grab bars in the downstairs bathroom. The house overall could have been a bit cleaner. A little extra time spent dust mopping corners for cobwebs, window sills & maybe an updated selection of kitchen suppilies (pots, pans, & bowls) but overall the poperty was as described & provided our family a nice place to stay & enjoy ourselves. Thanks for sharing your property!

Beautiful House, Great Location & Gorgeous Views
Stayed for a girls getaway weekend with 9 people. House was the perfect size where we didn't feel like we were on top of each other and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. Great kitchen to cook in and table that we could all fit around to eat. LOVED the location, walking distance from two wineries and 10 miles from Watkins Glen, where there was a lot of good places to eat! Fire pit was a great plus! 10/10 would recommend.

Great location
Location was great. House was well kept and large enough for 10 comfortably. The grill didn't work and we weren't aware there was a bird cannon next to us. Not a great first impression with that bang. Overall it had everything we needed for cooking and entertainment.

Charming older home with lake view
Very conveniently located near Watkins Glen. Large yard and ample parking space for three cars. Generous common space for families with small children. Three bathrooms we're great for nine people. Large kitchen with ample counter and table space for eating in. We would have enjoyed opening the windows for fresh air if they had screens. Abundance of flies and no fly swatters! Insufficient supply of silverware, dishes, pots and pans for a large group. We had to improvise and use the dishwasher after every meal. Some of the doors were sticking and difficult to open.

The house was exactly the way we expected it to be.
We enjoyed the house immensely. The house was very clean and large enough for our seven adult vacationers. It was very close to many wineries and breweries. We also walked Glens Falls and loved the scenery. The fire pit was a great addition to the house. We didn't expect that. Couldn't have asked for a nicer house. Great place and is on the list for return visits.

Great place!
I had my bachelorette party in the Finger lakes and needed a place to accommodate a large group. This house was perfect! Great location and plenty of space. My only complaint/negative review would be that we did have an issue with the water not working when we got to the property. That said, the host came and got the water running within an hour or so of our arrival and we didn’t have any further issues the rest of the weekend!

Disappointing
The property is located on a highway, 9 miles from Watkins Glen and 26 miles from Geneva. The highway is moderately busy during the day but very quiet during the night. Lots of wineries and breweries nearby. The amenities were as advertised but the house was not properly cleaned when we arrived. We cleaned up what we could. But the upstairs bathroom had mouse droppings in all of the cabinets so we decided not to use it. We contacted the property owner who apologized and promised to have his maintenance crew address the issues.

We loved it!
We had a family reunion of 9 people and the property served us well. Actually, it is good for 10 people with lots of space inside. The house was very clean with brand new kitchen appliances, TVs and fast WIFI internet connection. The porch gave us the opportunity to see the sun rise. It is about 15 minutes away from Watkins Glen where is a must see attraction. The owner Dave was also very helpful /responsive to my last minute request! Thanks! Dave!

Great Stay
We had a wonderful stay after a few hicups. The local area was without power shortly after we arrived. This was not a problem since we had planned to go out for dinner. When we returned power was restored but we did not realize that it knocked out the well pump. When we woke up the next morning we had no water. The owners we quick to respond and come and reset the pump and water was restored. The house had everything we needed for six adults. The view was outstanding and the fire pit and wood was a wonderful bonus. Would stay at this location again.

Pretty as a picture
we were literally seeking shelter from the hurricane damage and came upon this listing. An easy commute from northern Jersey. The house is exactly as pictured. Spotless. All linens, towles, and kitchenware were good quality. Plenty of condiments and cleaning supplies. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 dogs - who enjoyed the large yard. Directly across from Lake Seneca. 10 minutes outside Watkins Glen. Wineries galore. Great Amish Kuntry Market about 15 minutes away had everything you could need and all locally fresh. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Absolutely Wonderful!!!!
This was the perfect spot for our couple's getaway! There are so many cozy spots to sit for coffee in the morning and plan for the day, a beautiful well-equipped new kitchen to make a meal, wonderful porch for afternoon wine and apps. The location is perfect with wineries so close, and a short 10 minute drive to Watkins Glenn, where we took an evening dinner/blues cruise to see the sunset. We also did the Watkins Glen Falls hike which is just a short drive away and a must-do! The beds were comfy, the cabinets seemed all new with pots, pans, glasses, cofffee and coffee maker, spices, etc, all you need. We enjoyed a few wonderful fires at night (wood was provided which was great!), so quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend for a friends or family getaway, especially if you enjoy wine!!! Although this is on a main road, there is very little traffic. Communication was also great and arrival directions simple. We hope to be back!!

Finger Lakes Girls Weekend
The house was wonderful. The rooms were great. Plenty of space for the 5 ladies to sleep, read, watch TV,etc. The location was wonderful to the wineries, breweries and distilleries. The only problem was the loud and very annoying gun shots/rifles that went off all weekend. We didn't notice it Friday night. But we heard them when we woke up on Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning. It started as early as 7:45am. We left the house on Saturday and Sunday by 10am and returned around 6pm. We knew there was a gun range - but we thought it was a daytime event. The noise continued. It went on every 2 - 3 minutes forever. We timed it. I heard it as late as 2:30 am. Even with earplugs - especially the back bedrooms - it was relentless. I was in the front room and I am a little hard of hearing and I had two pillows over my ears to block out the sound, that is how bad it was. I read other reviews and no one mentioned this. What could/should we have done? I did leave a voice mail with Jason. Otherwise - we had a great time. Just sad about the noise.

Beautiful House, Invisible Hosts
The property lived up to the pictures posted with the listing. Only property issue was the deep grass, making us pass on the fire pit given the rainy weather. The hosts were invisible. I did not receive any pre-arrival information (like check in information) & had to make multiple calls to gain access to the property. Same for check out - a couple of lines in the property information binder. I attempted to ask questions pre-arrival & did not receive any response. The property was removed from vrbo so I couldn’t dbl check amenities.

Beautiful Home, Loud cannons
The home is stunning. The location was perfect. The view was picturesque. The vineyard next door has a sound cannon on the property line (to scare birds from the grapes) and it goes off every 2-3 minutes starting at 6:30am until 7:30pm (I timed it). I don't know if this is all year, but this definitely ruined our moms weekend away where we were all looking forward to sleeping in and napping and resting since this was a getaway from our kids. I was disappointed not to see this on the listing. I would stay here again if I knew when the cannons run (no idea if it's all year or just grape picking season).
