Great time.
Just spent a couple of days at Wattle Cottage and had a great time. Cottage was cosy and quaint. It was clean, well looked after and everything was supplied. Perfect for a quiet getaway. There’s plenty to do with numerous walks around the property, interacting with the farm animals and Lake Lyall being a short drive away. It’s also a perfect place take a dog, with their needs catered for and an enclosed backyard to the cottage. The hosts, Fiona and Michael, were very friendly and extremely helpful and communication was easy. Overall, a relaxing and great place to stay.

Amazing country house
We did expect a quiet stay in a nice country house, but the place completely exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed every minute we spent indoors and outdoors. Rustic details and decorations made it feel like it was sweet home, while cosy fireplace helped to survive the night frost. Saw wombats and kangaroos in the snow, and farm animals were super friendly as well.

Beautiful, peaceful location, fun outdoor trips
The cottage is well equipped and wonderfully cosy. Easy to cook for yourself in the kitchen or on the BBQ. Owner kindly had left free range eggs / bread / lots of food basics there to help for home cooks - as well as home made biscuits/fruit. Aircon cool/heat and a lovely wood stove. Large enclosed garden with wonderful district views. We had our cavalier spaniel with us who loved the walks around the property and running about the yard and was safe there when we did National Parks walks. Highly recc for couples with dog who want to time out or see Jenolan Caves ( allow 1 hr drive time if you have booked a specific tour) or do some bushwalks in the area - highly recc the Gloworm tunnel walk (National Park) from Wolgan Valley Road side ( 3.5hr walk , take a torch). A comfortable and peaceful rural retreat close to country activities

Peaceful and lovely
I stayed here for a week and everything about it was lovely. Perhaps the nicest part was the personal touch, there was even a dog treat for my pug! The views were fantastic, horses kind and gentle and we couldn't have asked for more! Really want to visit again!

Cute romantic getaway
It was absolutely perfect way to escape the city and unwind. The owners went out of their way to accommodate our late arrival on Friday night. It's the little things like lights and heating being on after a long cold drive. 5 stars

Host profile image
originally City dwellers we moved the Blue mountains 20 years ago to enjoy the quiet life.

Why they chose this property

we bought this property because we wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of city life with large open spaces ,peace and quiet.

What makes this property unique

Very friendly farm animals ( pets )
we are not farmers so our animals are members of the family and very used to humans
We also love history so the cottage is filled with unique little treasures and special things collected over many years of antique hunting
