Tucked away from the noise and busyness of everyday life, is a quiet ''Carriage House'' apartment located just a few miles outside the quaint little Village of Intercourse, PA. Many Lancaster County attractions are nearby: Kitchen Kettle, Strasburg Railroad, Dutch Wonderland, Amish Quilt Shops, Rockvale and Tanger Outlet Malls, Sight and Sound Millenium Theatre, Shady Maple Restaurant/Smorgasboard and other Restaurants with Amish Cooking, Buggy Rides, Hot Air Balloon Rides.

Originally the Carriage House was an out-building which has been transformed into a charming apartment with spacious high ceilings and cozy decor. It includes a flat-screen TV/DVD, an electric fireplace, comfortable seating area, dining table and kitchenette (sink/refrigerator/microwave/coffee maker.) A separate bedroom includes a painted armoire and a soft-as-a-cloud down comforter.

The spacious yard features a large gazebo, perfect for picnics, and you are invited to stroll through perennial gardens bursting with color in the summer, or relax in the hammock.

My husband and I live on the same property as the guest house, as do our neighbors who rent the house next door. Sometimes there are children playing outdoors or other family-related activities happening on the premises, but the Carriage House is in it's own space, and very private.

Beautiful Oasis

We love to vacation in the Lancaster area to relax and unwind. Our host and her family were helpful, gracious and kind. The suite was beautifully decorated and completely comfortable. We also loved how perfectly situated to the activities we enjoy in the area. Definitely would stay there again!

A Stay to Remember

From the moment that I booked this stay, the property owner was quick to reach out and accommodate in every way possible. The local attractions are very close by, yet the location was extremely quiet and peaceful. I’d highly recommend!

Delightful home away from home

Very comfortable and cozy in a rural setting. Nice outdoor sitting area. It is located approximately 45 minutes from the Du Pont estates. This is a great place to stay.

Girl time in Lancaster

My girlfriend and I come every year around this time to get our flowers for summer planting. This was our first time staying at Fan+Carl's beautiful cottage! First of all they both were so kind, inviting and helpful. The property was beautiful and the accomodations were wonderful. We had everything we needed and more! We will definitely be back again! Wonderful Stay at the Carriage House Suite

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at the Carriage House Suite. It was very clean and had everything we could have wanted. The bed was very comfortable and the surrounding area was extremely quiet. We are use to sleeping with a fan going and the standing fan they had stored in the closet was perfect. The location is perfect and close to everything. We can't wait to come back to the area and stay here again. We could not think of a better place to get away and relax.

Nice Little Place

Nice place to getaway for a few days. Mot far from Intercourse where there are a few things to do. About 20min to 30min to Shady Maple restaurant. Go hungry!

1st Trip to Pennsylvania Amish Country

The carriage house was absolutely perfect for our first stay in PA Amish Country. The location was great ! Pretty much anywhere you would want to visit was within a 10-20 minute drive. The property itself was very private and comfortable. The furnishings and bed were fantastic. Anything you could possibly need or want contained within! A nice electric fireplace, plenty of extra throw blankets, pillows, toiletries, kitchen supplies, coffee, snacks, and even a white noise machine! This place has it all! Hope to visit again sometime soon!

Peaceful carriage house

We had a peaceful weekend at this cozy carriage house. There are many extras in the home. Check in and check out was easy. We enjoyed driving around town and shopping at local stores. The weather was chilly so it was nice to sit by the fireplace and read a book after our adventures out. Thank you, Fan!

Wonderful and relaxing cottage

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this wonderful cottage. I was looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat from the daily grind and this was the perfect choice. I read by the fireplace, caught up on my favorite shows (using my Amazon Firestick which worked perfectly); and spent long lazy mornings sipping my coffee and watching the beautiful farmlands. The cottage was spacious and well equipped. It was beautifully decorated and had comfortable furniture. I cooked pleasant, small meals in the kitchenette. The bed was super comfy and warm. There is plenty of easy parking. The area is quiet and yet minutes away from all the popular shopping and dining areas. Highly recommend this wonderful cottage!

Very Peaceful

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Carriage House! It was very clean and just an absolute delightful place to stay. Very well equipped with everything we needed. There was even shampoo and conditioner in the shower which was great since I forgot mine. The owners were gone on vacation the week we were there, but we met their daughter who was very kind and friendly. We have nothing negative at all to say about our experience there. It was GREAT!! Not what I expected

When I first arrived I was a bit surprised to see how close everything was, however, this is NOT an issue. The property is quiet. We didn't intend to but we spent so much time on the property just enjoying the sound of the wind and the calming feel under the raised patio. One evening we just sat there in the dark listening to the sounds of the horses galloping with the buggy. My husband didn't like that the bed is a Queen bed, but that's just his quirk because we have a king bed at home. A tip to anyone who sweats in their sleep like me, leave the bedroom door open. The apartment was very clean and felt very homey. When choosing VRBO remember, this is NOT a hotel. This was exactly what we were looking for and we will return. Oh yea, THE BREAD IS AMAZING!

Perfect location

Great place to stay!

Convenient to so many places, stores and restaurants. The place was very clean and so comfortable. There was also a little treat of Amish friendship bread left for us. Communication with the owner was great! I highly recommend The Carriage House.

About the host

We have lived at this location for over 35 years, and for nearly 25 of those years, my husband's mother lived next door to us. After she became sick and was no longer able to live in her home, we bought the property and combined the two properties into one. Grandma's house has become a long-term rental: behind her house in an outbuilding is the Carriage House. The suite is very private, with accessible parking and easy access. It features large windows and a sunny quiet space to enjoy a vacation in this lovely part of the country.

What makes this property unique

The bustling little "tourist town" of Intercourse is located just a few minutes from our property, but while you are at the Carriage House, the world slows down, and you can simply enjoy a peaceful, rural spot in Lancaster County.
