Derby Weekend

Space and location were great! The host was super responsive and was kind enough to let us check in early! House lacked a lot of basic amenities and having those items would have made it 5 stars. We provided specific feedback to him, so hopefully it’s addressed before the next guests!

Loved everything except bed linens

The house was amazing and the hot tub was clean and worked well. The neighborhood was great with so many things to do in walking distance or a short ride. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Check-in was super easy and parking was awesome. The only thing was the cleanliness of the beds and floors. The comforters on the beds haven’t been washed in a long time. Each room smelled of sweat and too much axe cologne. I pulled up a sheet and was astonished to find there were not waterproof mattress pads. With this house being a party house, I was surprised. There was clearly a vomit spot and possibly some urine. I also found a dried booger on one bed spread! My toddler also found a nicotine vape juice under the couch along with some dried food. Floors we’re pretty clean otherwise. Could use a quick mop. I believe cleaning of floors and bedding was the only issue. I’d stay here again if beds were cleaner. Everything else was amazing.

Terrible management

Had a three night reservation. The listing is nothing like the photos, the backyard is decent but the house is extremely old, bed sheets and pillow covers stained. On our second night the power went out of the heater and the entire second floor. We contacted the property manager, followed all his steps to fix it which didn't work, yet he never show up nor did he send anyone to fix it. Had to check out a day early due to extreme cold inside the house, however the property manager refused to reimburse us for the day we didn't stay! Terrible experience

Just a few things that need addressing and then it would be a great property. The property could use some minor maintenance. Door handles falling off, light sockets not completely covering the opening. Rear door and rear gate doors need some work. We will conside for the future.

Sadly disappointed

We arrived at the property after 6pm and had to message property manager for instructions to access the house. We did receive an email within five minutes with keypad instructions. After this initial communication subsequent communications with property manager went unanswered for 10+ hours. Our biggest disappointment was in regards to the linens provided. We were only able to find 2 hand towels and 5 washcloths for 8 guests. Additionally only one bed had a top sheet, all other beds had only a fitted sheet and either a blanket or comforter which made us question the cleanliness of these items. We highly doubt these top covers are washed between guests, especially not in the stackable washer/dryer at the house as it took multiple drying cycles to dry the hottub towels between uses. One other issue we were the unfortunate victims of was a dying smoke detector battery. It chirped a little bit our first morning and then stopped but of course the battery decided to completely die at midnight on our second night and then chirped continuously. We contacted the property manager regarding replacing the battery on our first day but again did not receive an adequate response in a timely fashion and so we went out and bought replacement batteries and installed them ourselves after a miserable night. The location of the property was very convenient to fun restaurants/coffee shops and if the property manager can address the issue with the linens and respond in a more timely fashion this is a property we might consider staying at again in the future.

Nice location and good amenities!

We only had 3 couples but there was plenty of space for 2 more comfortably. The back deck was very nice. It provided us a decent amount of privacy to sit and relax by the fire, in the hot tub, or around the bar and grill. We grilled out the first evening and ate on the deck. Thanks for the great space.

Fabulous!

We had a great visit in Louisville, and this house only made it better! Great location! The deck with hot tub, fire pit (both worked perfectly) and great privacy were just the thing for us. The 11 of us ( 5 kids from 6-13 and 3 couples) were all comfy in nice beds. The house is in a quiet, good neighborhood with short walks and short drives to everything we wanted to do. The only downside--we visited in winter, and could not take advantage of the outdoor table for seating at mealtime (kitchen table seats 6-8) but we easily made do around the coffee table. Owner was responsive, house was clean. We'll come back!!!

Great weekend getaway

Nice place for a weekend getaway. Perfect space for 10. Living room area could use a little more furniture to accommodate all. Beds were amazingly comfortable. Cozy and private deck area.

Great location - property issues

The location of the property is excellent. Good for walking to restaurants…etc. Three issues to be aware of: 1) no communication from prior until 30 min prior to checkin. A bit of anxiety when you’ve been planning for months 2) the hot tub was rancid. Brown, horrible smelling water…should not be part of the listing 3) barking dog next door. Not much they can do about that, but be aware that 2/3 nights it started at 4 am and continued for hours. Our party brought noise machines but it still woke everyone.

House has potential, but receives very little care.

Let me start off with the positives… the house has a nice lay out and is comfortable for the space it has. Beds were comfortable and there was a decent amount of towels and linens. House is in a decent area as we never felt insecure or unsafe. There’s a general feeling that no one cares about this property, and upkeep is lacking. Broken and missing towels bars, outlets falling out from the wall, holes in the walls, unfinished patches, dirty walls all propagate this idea. The house was superficially cleaned, however we came across some issues with that as well. The upstairs bathroom had a lingering smell, when we emptied the trash there was multiple used condoms sitting in the bottom. The bbq grill was disgusting as if it’s never been cleaned in its life. While no one can expect everything to be perfect, we do hope whoever manages the property will do their best to accommodate their guests. The first problem we encountered was the TV in the living room was never able to connect to the Wifi and so did not work at all. We sent a message regarding this problem and were told maybe someone would come to fix it. In the four days we were there, no one came. Also, when we arrived, the fire pit was sitting in it’s box not installed or connected. Again we received a response that he would try to get someone, but again no resolution. The kitchen sink is leaking steadily in the cabinet, but someone stuffed a big towel under it. By the end of the week, it had begun to smell. We understand things break last minute and all, however the amount of issues that we saw tells us that there is overall lacking in maintenance and care. We were disappointed at the fact that the main reasons for booking the house, cool deck with fire pit and comfy living room with large tv, were not even usable. Although these negatives did not ruin our family vacation, I wish I had paid more attention to previous unfavorable reviews....

Okay stay

The noise was super cute, old but charming. It was walking distance to a liquor store and a few restaurants and bars. About a $20 Uber ride during busy times to downtown. Great outdoor area. Unfortunately we did find dirty socks in one bed and a used tobacco/ spit bottle under another bed. The cleaning process is a bit questionable. Other than that it was a good stay.

Great location & poor communication

This house is a great place to stay while touring the bourbon trail. The deck is phenomenal, we spent one afternoon just on the patio. Would of been great if the hot tub would of been working😞! The house is 5 stars, the only reason I gave 3 for an overall rating, is because some of the supplies in the description were not there. We had to go buy a coffee pot & TP. When trying to communicate with the property manager we got no response. The one day he did respond, he said “they would make it right” still have not heard from him again and we have been for a week! Once again the house is great! And I would book again!

Great house for families

Our family recently stayed at this house. The deck is amazing. The hot tub was great - even in 30-degree weather (it's close to the house so you can run in when you're done). The neighborhood felt safe and was generally quiet. The dog next door barks a lot (during the day), and there was some traffic noise at night but not enough to wake us up. Inside, the house was spacious and clean - everything we needed was provided. It's just a few blocks from shops and restaurants - with takeout options for Covid. Check-in and out was easy. Would highly recommend.

Family weekend getaway

Our family loved this property! Conveniently located and within walking distance of restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. Amazing deck/patio... added bonus for the hot tub and fire pit! We absolutely will come back again.

We loved the cleanliness and charm of this house. The deck and location were great as well. Recommend updating doors/locks. (The main bathroom door wouldn't shut and lock was inoperable)

Even better than the pictures

The house and deck were both even bigger than they look in the pictures. All the beds are very comfortable. The house is in a beautiful neighborhood. You could park your car and walk to many different restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and hot tub. The owner was quick to respond when I had a question. We felt safe letting the kids play outside. I would rent this again and recommend it for a nice getaway.

Beautiful house!

We LOVED the house-the detail inside to the original "old" house was wonderful from the wood floors to the huge doors and door trim and windows. Beautiful inside. The sheets were so soft and the beds were comfy! The house was clean and in order. Nicely decorated. So much room! We loved the deck. The fire pit was in working order. We really liked the high walls for privacy. There was a dog next door that barked, but we are dog people so it did not bother us at all. We felt it was a safe area and didn't have any concern of our safety. The parking area was perfect. We only had one issue that should have been taken care of before we arrived: ***The listing is based on the hot tub, but it was disgusting. We did not use it and that was one thing we were really looking forward to. We lifted the cover and there was a cigar on the side of it, wedged in the center of the cover, it stunk like mildew and had pieces of stuff floating in the water. The water was very dirty. It clearly was not cleaned or even looked at before we arrived. I let the owner know and with no apology, was told, "Wish you would have mentioned the tub to me, I would have come right over and had it perfect in a few minutes. It is regularly treated but we use bromine, not chlorine." Overall we had a great time and loved the house.

Great getaway

This house was an amazing place for our weekend getaway with 4 couples. The back deck is everything it promises in the picture and 4 King beds were perfect! Great communication and close to everything. Thanks for the great memories!!

Great house—but deck is under 24 surveillance

Loved the property! House was beautiful, beds slept great, and the deck is amazing. TVs are smart TVs all logged in to Netflix. 3 car parking in alley plus street parking. No issues with appliances or heating. However, I would not have booked this home if I knew big brother could spy on me 24/7. There is a ring door bell at the front door and the back door so the hot tub and bar are monitored. Our group is smokers and there is no smoking in the deck. We planned our weekend based on the deck, and I was uncomfortable being out there. This may not bother others, but I did not appreciate it and would have liked to before I booked. Also, this is in a highly populated residential area, so quiet hours start early. We didn’t have an issue, but is is good to know if you are a larger outdoor group.
