BEWARE! This is a scam!
After paying for my reservation in full, the owner of the home did not reply to any of e-mails or messages. He did not provide any check in details or house details pertaining to the reservation. I attempted to call him but no-one picked up. When he finally picked up (less than one week before my arrival date), he immediately informed me that he is refusing the service I paid him in full for. He said that he was only available until 6:00pm on the day of reservation. This information was not listed, nor was it brought to my attention. In anger, he further said that my family would have to sleep outside as he cannot allow entrance to his property. I was beyond shocked, as well as worried. My arrival to Koh Samui with my family of 6 was left with no accommodation and my vacation was now only 4 days away. In a calm manner, I asked him if there was anything we can compromise or work out. He yelled at me saying “My way is the only way.” And that “This is how things work on Thailand”. He did not apologize for the inconvenience this has caused me but only got progressively angrier. He hung up on me. I have reserved and stayed at numerous vacation homes around the world and this has never happened to me before. I was completely devastated. I immediately went onto booking.com and made a reservation for my family of 6. I am lucky I was able to find something within such a short time period to my arrival. Now, I am in an ongoing dispute to try to get my money back.
