The Moreton House is a two bedroom beach house best suited to one or two couples. It has a clean, modern feel, and is decorated with contemporary Australian art.
With its expansive front deck, back verandah and open plan living space, the house is designed for leisurely living no matter the weather.
The northern orientation ensures plenty of light and air flow, and being low set, two sets of stacking sliders is all that separates you from the native garden with its spectacular paperbarks.
The Island
The Moreton House, situated in the township of Kooringal, is a minutes' walk from the pristine waters of Days Gutter, the only all-weather anchorage on Moreton Island. Days Gutter is home to turtles, dolphins and dugong. The island is 98 per cent national park with miles of empty beaches, freshwater perched lakes, magnificent walks and drives, bird watching, whale watching in season, and good fishing, squidding and crabbing. Or you can do as little as you please in the plentiful comforts of the house. Moreton is 37km long and 10km at its widest point, so the size of Moreton makes exploration easy. Mount Tempest, at 280 m high is the highest permanent sand dune in the world. The Quandamooka people are the traditional owners of Mulgumpin (Moreton Island).
As there are no sealed roads on the island, you'll need a 4x4 to access the island.
