Come home after a fun-filled day of adventure in the San Juan Mountains to this charming, Victorian-style home conveniently located in Ouray. Complete with a front porch, a perfect place to take in the breathtaking views, sip your morning coffee, and relax.
This home is located in Ouray's National Historic District and one block from Main St. Originally built in 1875, this home offer the best of both worlds: a piece of Ouray's Victorian history and all the modern conveniences you could wish for after an extensive remodel.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor, one of the bedrooms has a full bed and the other has a queen bed. Both
bedrooms have ceiling fans. One of the bedrooms has a flat
screen television with satellite tv/premium channels, a dvd player and Netflix accessibility. The living room offers a comfortable sitting area to relax ans socialize. The living room has a flat screen television, featuring satellite tv/premium channels , as well as a gas fireplace. The leather couch in living room pulls out into a bed that sleeps 2.
The kitchen is well-equipped (gas stove, oven, refrigerator, ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, blender ,food processor, place settings, pots, pans, cooking utensils and much more) so you can conveniently cook at home during your stay. There is a washer, dryer too. the first floor bathroom has a beautiful walk-in ,tiled shower.
The master bedroom is located upstairs in the loft. I refer to the master bedroom as a loft since does not have a door to close, but the only opening is the size of a door frame that faces away from the rest of living space, so t offer relative privacy. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a private bathroom with a clawfoot tube with a shower attachment. A private balcony facing east is accessed from the master bedroom. The balcony is a beautiful spot to enjoy breakfast
or sit in the evenings.

Only sleeps 6 conforably
Very nice location and overall clean. The one draw back is the pullout sofa bed. It has a large depression in the middle. He only slept on it one night before he got a hotel because it hurt his back.

Holiday Fun w family
We enjoyed a holiday gathering of our Colorado family. We enjoyed family meals, soaking time at Twin Peaks Hot Springs, a 3 minute walk. I would list this house as a 3 bedroom w a pullout couch in living room. Thank you for thick towels, Kleenex and paper towels.

Needs a good cleaning and updating
I believe this home gets a false rating because in the packet of information in the home it insinuates that you will receive a $20 gift card to Starbucks for any 5 star rating. That just is not right. People rely on these ratings. The place needs a thorough cleaning throughout. The furniture is old, outdated and uncomfortable. My night stand did not even have wood on the front it was missing and the other room the table was about ready to fall apart. All of the bath towels we were to use we all very damp so we had to wash them and dry them ourselves. The bathroom rug was disgusting. The bathroom upstairs in the loft is not one you can get ready in as there is no mirror (a very tiny one on the wall that is unusable to get ready in front of right next to the toilet). The picture they took of it cuts that off so you can't tell. The listing states they supply paper towels and there was less than a quarter of a roll left for us and no extras. They also have no extras at all for the kitchen such as plastic wrap. The soap dispensors were not filled. They should also learn to clean the top of the refrigerator! It seems as though a corporatoin owns this home and you can tell it. I will say the one plus it had going for it was the location. Very walkable to the downtown. The property just needs to do a good deep cleaning and replace disgusting rugs when they look so dirty. We have stayed at many of places and this one didn't seem worth the price paid or the ratings it has.

perfect location for ouray
re engineered older house in downtown ouray. walking distance to all restaurants and stores. quiet street one block off main street. deer came up to yard every night to eat grass. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. the upstairs bathtub had an air hammer sound so we didn't use it. the heat worked fine but the gas log fireplace wouldn't lite. great kitchen with everything we needed and the front porch was a great place to sit and watch the sunset over the mountains. would stay there again.

Walkable to Main St. NO AC
This was the end of our 2 week trip. We enjoyed the close proximity to Main St and all the restaurants etc. When we hiked the Via Ferrata, Box Canyon and went to the hot springs pools we drove but they would be walkable if needed. This place wasn't quite as nice as I had hoped. The owners can't control the neighbors messy outside but it would be nice if they took more care in the tidyness of their own small yard. (Namely the back). Some of the porch furniture was in disrepair (broken). The downstairs shower had an unsavory odor and it would be nice to see some repair to it's outside lower tile work. We weren't left any Paper towels (listing says they are provided) and we ran out of toilet paper. The biggest issue with the place was NO air conditioning. I am sure I should have noticed that this was the case but I had failed to do that and it isn't called out at all just simply not listed as an amenity. I have no one to blame but myself. In early August we were quite uncomformtably hot and it was difficult to sleep even with a fan. All that being said, it was much less costly then the other places I found and I am guessing the above are the reasons for it. You get what you pay for. It has the location going for it for sure. And it's not a horrible place it would just be nice to know a bit more of what to expect. I did not reach out to the owner about any of the issues but that's because I never heard from him until I asked him about check out.

Warm, very comfortable. Previous people left beer cans in a box outside the back door. The garbage cans were totally full I guess because of the holiday so we had to leave our garbage bag in the kitchen. The downstairs commode needs attention. It runs very slow. We did however enjoy the property. We would recommend it.

Mountain Get-Away
It was important to have a place my parents, who are 80 had a place they could be comfortable in and be able to get out and about without too many obstacles and this was the perfect place to be. We could walk to downtown to look at shops by day and get an ice cream cone with the grandkids in the evening and they loved how close all the mountain adventures were to our home base.

Great location for walking to downtown, to Box Canyon, to the hot springs, very quiet street—we slept with windows open undisturbed through the night. We had a lovely stay.

Ouray wedding stay
The property was comfortable and had sufficient room for the 5 of us who enjoyed the stay. The property is located conveniently within walking distance of virtually everything in Ouray. The only hiccup in the stay was during the arrival. I arrived at the property at 4 pm (the listed check-in time) to find the property was not ready. The cleaning service was still at the property and a child (about 8 years old) was sleeping on the couch. It was about 430 before I could enter the property. This did not affect our overall stay.

Honest review
I have never given a poor review but this is my honest opinion. Opinions care vary depending on personal preference. I booked this house based on the 5 star reviews. After returning to look at them, I disagree with many. A gift card is offered for a 5 star review, just an FYI. Positives- the location is great. You can walk to everything- shops, restaurants, hikes. The property manager was responsive to my concerns and provided a partial refund which I greatly appreciated. Negatives- the house was dirty. There was both built up dirt and the house was not cleaned prior to our arrival. There were food stains and residue in the fridge and on the stove. The house was dusty, the front porch was very dusty so we did not use it. It had built up dirt on the furniture. When arriving, the initial impression was concern because the house looked worn out and the front yard (the only yard there is) was full of weeds. The interior was also really worn out, including the furniture. You need to bring your own toiletries but there is a hair dryer. We only used the loft bedroom. It was fine but we did bump our heads multiple times due to the low ceiling. If you are tall, it will not work. The loft bathroom is only useful for the sink and toilet. We could not get the bathtub to work correctly. There is not a shower. The only shower is located just outside of the kitchen so if there are multiple couples everyone will share. This is not a 5 star house, I would not rank it more than a 3.
