Needs TLC and attention to cleanliness.
The location is great. A lot of space for kids or big families!! However the property needs a lot of attention. The outdoor kitchen is very old. The whole property needs an extensive deep clean. A lot of the appliances were dirty/grubby. Drawers and cupboards were all marked inside with grub marks. There were Cobwebs in the rooms with a lot of daddy long legs. An Ant nest was in the door frame of the outdoor bedroom with ant droppings on the bottom of the frame. The curtains in the outdoor rooms need a good clean and some new hooks to hang them. The back rooms have screen doors and curtains that pull across so in the winter it would be freezing. The back bathroom was not clean. From the cleaning we had to do on leaving I’m not sure if there is a cleaner in between tenants. The house needs some TLC and attention to cleanliness. We had a large family group so the price was around the same as other properties in the area that were clean. Overall we had a good time in port Vincent but we won’t stay again.

Faulty BBQ ruined our stay - seeking our money back
Arrived Saturday afternoon to a lovely place, albeit fairly dirty which surprised us as we had 11 pages of cleaning instructions we needed to adhere to on our departure. Had to clean the BBQ thoroughly and noticed all the dials were loose and came off. Went to light the BBQ and it blew up on my friend Maureen. Her whole head caught on fire and 2 of us had to try and put it out - we got ice and cold water straight away and she was in shock of course. Lost a lot of hair, burnt nose, lips, eyebrows and eye lashes gone, 3rd degree burn on her left forearm, both hands and thumbs and forefingers. We had switched the gas off straight away and attended to Maureen, 1/2 an hour later I tried again being very wary - same thing happened when it blew fire at me and I lost quite a bit of hair including my whole fringe, complete loss of eyebrows and eyelashes. Called owner who had no compassion but to say have another drink and I will send the cleaner around. Cleaner arrived 5-10 minutes later and we explained what had happened and also showed the burns to our friends face and arm/han ds and my facial hair loss. He checked everything and then had a shot of lighting it and it blew up in his face also and caught his eyebrow on fire. He rang the owner and said there was a serious problem and he needed to get a new bbq! We could have taken Maureen to the nearest hospital at Minlaton but decided it would be better to keep all her burns iced. She was still in so much pain the next day

JM Disability Supports stayed at Alfies with a group of young lads with disabilities. They had an amazing time with all the sports equipment and were always entertained. I would recommend Alfies to large groups and families with children and teenagers. Absolutely fantastic!

Poor living condition
I do not recommend this house. It was full of dust, which made it uncomfortable to stay in. We have never experienced such poor living conditions before. Additionally, communication with the owner was terrible, making the situation even more frustrating.

Cute property, it would be great for a couple of large families, or a boys fishing trip. Great value for money, but it does need a good spring clean. But for $100 per night im not complaining.

Great location
Great location close to beach. Loved the outdoor area plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. Down full was all the little sugar ants everywhere which i am sure with pest control coming in and bug bombs to get on top of it would be great. It wasn't the cleanest place but i am sure with a kick up the bum of the caretaker problem solved. We did have a few problems but the owner always returned my phone calls.

Ehhhhh
Look he will prob comment about my post that my kids lost 2 remotes and im the bad person for losing them and that he has never lost the remotes in 30 years. But look go and waste your money if you like and find out for your self. Ants in beds and all over the bbq on arrival. Mozzies in the cubby house was insane. Nothing was clean at all. House and pics of the house are 20 years outdated. Tbh back 20 years ago this accommodation would of been the best on the yorke peninsula but now its worse than a detention centre at woomera. The table tenis table is held up by an old plastic garden table. Had to bring own table tennis bats and balls to even use it. Which i left there for other people. Along with mozzies coils and repellent. You will need fly spray on arrival. So many rules that come with staying here including no flatulence in the rooms. I would never ever take my family there again.

Great for big families
This is the second time we have stayed here. It's a great spot for big families with plenty of beds and a big yard for kids to play in. Also good cooking facilities for big groups. It's not the Bellagio, but an honest beach shack and works great for our family.

Great location, awful property! Would NOT go there again!
Let's begin with a positive, it was a really great location! The lawns are great and when you come into the property it looks amazing! The problems begin when you get to the rooms. The beds are SO uncomfortable! The rooms are crammed with as many beds as can fit, probably way more that there should be! The rooms were unclean, to say the least. We even had uneaten food in one of the rooms. The place was crawling with ants, probably because it isnt maintained properly. The BBQ was SO filthy that it was almost unusable. The kitchen looks great in the pictures, until you use it. The ovens don't get up to temp, the electric stove is decades old and takes ages to heat up. The kitchen was filthy and unclean. Overall, the property is very badly maintained and unkept! But for the price, maybe it wasn't all that bad! I mean, you get what you pay for and here, you dont pay much and you dont really get much! If your plan is to stay outdoors as much as possible and only come in to sleep, this is a good and cheap option. But if you want to really enjoy your stay, I would not recommend this property! Only gets 1 star!

Sleeps heaps + outdoor living!
We've been coming to Alfie's for over 15 years. Extended family from babies to 100 yr olds. Fantastic space for being social and all cooking & washing up outdoors (if that's your to thing). Coolroom is so worth the extra $. Heaps to do, lovely lawn out the back, sandpit, cubby, table tennis, darts. Highly recommend for large groups.

Great position nice surrounds
The house and outdoor kitchen facilities were clean and tidy, the garden and surrounds were very good and the position near the beach was great. However the back bedrooms were not cleaned, socks and carrot under beds, spiderwebs in all rooms and a cracked wall and bedroom three is unacceptable. The ceiling in the same bedroom was damaged and in need of repair. The so called sportsbar was poor with table tennis table and accessories broken or unuseable. It would be better for owner to not advertise these as a drawcard for visitors. Overall it was not 5 star and we understoood that was the case. Basic maintenance and upkeep would improve this holiday house considerably.

Perfect for our large group
Alfie's was a wonderful spot for four families with young kids to have a weekend away. So many beds to choose from! We spent most of our time in the outdoor kitchen/communal area. The kids loved the cubby house, sandpit and swing. The adults partook in a few intense games of table tennis. Walking distance to the main street of Port Vincent and the beach. A little intimidating to be sent a large package of rules ahead of time, but makes sense for a place that caters to very large groups. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a fun place and understands that it's not meant to be 5* accommodation!
