The house is spacious and has pretty much everything we needed. Fantastic location, secluded with a great deck. Could use some better chairs out there though. Sadly the river is bone dry, still a beautiful area. This property is super close to town but feels like you’re in the country. Our only issue was that there was no hot water in the bathroom connected to the room we stayed in.
We arrived just in time to change our clothes and head to a concert in Fredericksburg. We noticed a very musty smell so we turned on ac and fan. Upon our return at 1am the smell was maybe even worse. My husband and I had instant headaches from the stench. Before we went to sleep we booked another location for the following night. We left around 8am so not even 7 hours in this home. I reached out when we left early Saturday morning to the owner and they have yet to respond, this is day 4. The place is very dated but that was okay since we weren’t planning to spend a lot of time in the home but the smell was too much and caused an early departure. The lawn was quite high, there was black stuff on front of house (possibly mold-that would explain the smell), the shower in the room we chose to sleep in did not drain nor did the water get hot. George, the owner had reached out letting us know the oven wasn’t working, no big deal again, we weren’t planning to bake/cook. I waited for a response from him before I posted this review. I would refrain from renting this home until they address the overwhelming issues.
Late check in, didn’t receive access code until 6:15 check in was at 3. House has not been swept or mopped, dirty dishes in the cabinets and drawers, beds did not have top sheets. House was spacious and has great potential with more attention to detail. Owner was extremely rude when issues were discussed.
Overall we had a great stay at this house in Wimberley and would stay again! One thing that was not clear from the listing: all three bedrooms have glass french doors and thus do not have privacy. Also, the house is not a 10 minute walk from downtown. It's 20+ minutes on narrow roads without sidewalks (ordinarily this wouldn't matter, but for women wearing heels it was an issue). This said, the house worked well for our group. The place is very spacious and well-equipped with private creek access. We all had good cell service, too.
If you are looking for a quiet get away, this is the place for you. No TV, no WiFi, and cell reception was sketchy at times but that's what we wanted. The house was comfortable but for someone that went during Thanksgiving and was cooking, the kitchen could use a deep clean especially the oven. Two of 3 beds were comfortable but the mattress by the kitchen needs to be replaced(it sinks in the middle, BAD). Also be warned, there is no real privacy for the bedrooms. In spite of those few things, it was definitely worth the memories made with my kids and grandkids! They loved walking down to the river and to the creek out back...they would get excited at the deer in the yard. It's a really peaceful place to make good memories with the family.
The property is in a great location. A few minutes walk to the river, a creek in the backyard, and a few minutes from the town square. There is no WiFi, and most of the places we visited in Wimberly didnt have WiFi either. The only big issue we had was an ant infestation in one of the bathrooms. First day no ants but they quickly made their way in. The owner sent Orkin out the next day but the ants were coming in and dying in the bathroom. It wasn’t a pretty sight. Thank goodness the ants were small and didn’t bite. Otherwise we enjoyed the rental very much
The house was perfect for my family of six and two dogs. It is spacious with three bedrooms and a large dining room table for meals and games. The kitchen has a large counter and is well stocked with cookware. The deck is wonderful to sit out and enjoy the quietness and watch the animals and birds. It is a short walk to the river and very short drive to everywhere else. It is a mile walk to the square if you don't want to deal with parking while you walk around the shops.
There is no Wifi nor TV at the house but we brought books and board games to entertain four kids age 11-20. They finished a 750 pieces jigsaw puzzle that was at the house. Cell service (we have Verizon) can be slow at times in the house but enough for us to use our phones.
It is a great affordable place for our family.
Second time staying on the property I love the location. Right in Wimberly when you look at the beer in the morning and see deer there is a creek when it rains out back or a nice little walk with the pups. Has access to the blanco river and beautiful hikes At canyon lake. Near jacobs well.
This private three bed room home is great for groups with queen beds in each room I love the Doors that face the creek each room has a view yet is situated where not everyone can see inside. Also the 2 restrowoms have entrances Without going into someone’s room. The creek view is beautiful even when it’s dry and you can tube in the blanco river maybe 2 minute walk. Dog friendly home it’s just amazing. They also have lots of cups , cooking wear, oven mit and towels .
Spacious and clean, this little home is perfect for a weekend getaway. Access to the river is walking distance, and the area is beautiful for walking/hiking and lounging in the river. Host is gracious and available. We’ll be back for sure!
We really enjoyed our stay. We had a two minute walk down to the river to play in and float and a less then 5 minute drive into Wimberley Center. If it was cooler outside we would have walked there. We got to see lots of deer in the yard and a fox too. The house was very clean and perfect for our needs. We will definitely stay there again.
