About this property

Great beach house in Somers

The perfect 60s beach house in a gorgeous garden setting located directly behind the Somers Yacht Club and close to the best swimming beach in Somers.

The main house sleeps 4 people and has a queen size bed in the master bedroom and two singles in the second bedroom and the separate bungalow has a queen-sized bed.

The house has an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with stunning views of the garden. The separate bungalow has recently been renovated and includes a small kitchenette and bathroom. Both house and bungalow have overhead ceiling fans throughout.

It's an easy stroll to the Somers General Store for breakfast or lunch or or jump in the car and explore the Peninsula's wineries and beaches.

Go for long slow walks on the beach, swim with the resident family of dolphins, relax in deck chairs in the garden and enjoy the birdlife... and hopefully see a koala lazing in the tree.

This is the ideal beach house for a relaxing getaway on the quieter side of the Mornington Peninsula.

Please note: Linen is not provided. Please bring your own sheets and towels... everything else is supplied.

Amazing location, stunning garden easy walk to beach
We have stayed before and love the house. So much character, beautiful environment, comfy beds, kitchen well stocked, lots of places to sit around the property including the lovely, shaded lawn space under the trees and on the balcony overlooking the gardens.

Sensational Somers
My family and I had the great pleasure of staying at LIbby's fantastic beach house over Christmas...what an absolute delight this property is! Libby's home, sitting amongst a lush and perfectly tendered garden, is thoughtfully and lovingly filled with art and objects worthy of a magazine photo shoot, while still providing all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Nothing feels too precious, giving one the sense of a home on loan from a trusted friend. I particularly enjoyed reading on the lawn in the adirondak chairs with a cocktail and appreciated the short and easy walk to the beach or Somers General Store. Thanks again, Libby, it was remarkable.

Great House
We had a wonderful time at Mimosa cottage. Such a a good location & pretty garden and loved the outside deck for eating over the hot summer days. Beds very comfortable and the house had everything needed. Although a few hot days would have been nice to have air con. We would love to return soon. Susan

Somers beach weekend
Seamless from start to end. Great place - a short stroll down the beach from the General Store and close to Yacht club. A very friendly, relaxed and welcoming community with old school values and time to stop and say hello.

Wanted to stay longer!
What a lovely place!! The decor is the perfect blend of rustic/seaside/homely comfort and the garden is absolutely beautiful. While we only booked for one night to attend a family wedding nearby, it would have been great if we'd planned to stay longer to enjoy the ambience and explore Somers a little more. Thank you!

Classic Somers beach house with a relaxed feel and everything you need. Fabulous location with a 2 minute walk to the beach and 5 minute walk to the general store. Gorgeous garden that attracts the birds and local wildlife. I would thoroughly recommend this property for your next beach getaway.

Cosy retro beach house
Our group of 4 adults and one child thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Mimosa Beach house. Everything we needed was provided and the house was comfortable, cosy and warm. We took several long walks along the beach and loved returning to sit in front of the fire. The house is close to the beach and the Somers General store but the beautiful garden makes it feel secluded and private. Thank you Libby

Love this property.
We had a long weekend stay over cup weekend. 3 afults and 3 kids (11, 11, 12 years old). Fantastic property. Plenty of room. Beautiful gardens! Very beach house, very comfortable. Loved the kitchen, nice modern and functional with everything we needed for cooking. Well stocked pantry with all the little tid bits you need but always leave home. Comfy couch!! Nice large wood fire that kept us toasty warm on that miserable Monday with all the rain. Loved the furnishings in the main house and the bungalow. Plenty of space for outdoor living, two seperate outdoor settings for meals and a huge deck. Nice and clean! The beach is a super easy walk across the road. Good for kids swimming and fishing. Lovely host!! Couldn't reccomend this property enough. We will be back!

Great house and garden with a retro feel!
We loved our stay at this fantastic house & garden. It's excellently equipped and has a warm homely feel. The garden is very tranquil with lots of seating and a weber BBQ. Position is perfect, just a short stroll to beach and shops. The second double bedroom is detached from the main house which makes this a very flexible property.

Beautiful place to stay
We went to Somers for the weekend recently and stayed at this beautiful property. It was quiet and peaceful, in close proximity to the beach and general store and had everything we needed/wanted: well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, toasty fireplace for colder nights and a nice garden. It really felt like we were getting away from it all – we only wish we could have stayed for a few more days. Also Libby was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Our family of six stayed at Mimosa House recently and would have loved to stay longer. The house was very comfortable with a charming old seaside ambience and only a stones throw to the beach and a short walk to the local cafe. The kitchen was all equipped with good quality homewares and the bedrooms were very cosy, especially the larger one that was semi -detached.We used the deck and the garden area to dine as the weather was perfect . Just what we needed for our family get together. Also handy in the fact that it is only an hours drive from Melbourne through some of the prettiest countryside and lots of local wineries. We hope to get back again on our next visit to Melbourne.Thank you Libby... we loved your house and very good value for money.Teresa and family...Cairns

About the host

I spend my time between Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula and especially love the Westernport Bay side for its beaches, birdlife, amazing bushwalks and fabulous places to explore. Whether it's a drive to some of the Peninsula's best wineries and restaurants, tucked away secret galleries or watching an amazing sunset from Somers beach there's always something new to discover. And swimming with Somers' resident family of dolphins is a real bonus.

Why they chose this property

Somers is a relaxed, beachside village on the Westernport side of the Mornington Peninsula. It has everything you need, and more... a great General Store for breakfast or lunch, the Somers Yacht Club, beautiful clean beaches and plenty of interesting wineries to visit. There are terrific walks through the bush at the Koala Reserve or along the clifftop, or meander through the gardens and wetlands at historic Coolart Homestead.

What makes this property unique

It's a mid century, 60s beach house and just the way beach houses should be... relaxed and casual. The location, the garden setting and amenities are what makes this house so unique. It's across the road from the beach and a short walk to the General Store. Put the umbrellas up and relax on the deck or laze in deckchairs on the lawn.
