Shoveling on ski weekend
We booked this house a few weeks before we were going to lackawaxen for the weekend. The house is within a 10 minute drive to ski big bear which was great. The house is in a nice little private community in the mountains. The house had plenty of room for our family of 5. Myself my husband and 3 teen/adult daughters, everyone had their own space which was great. The house was spotless and kitchen had everything you would need if you want to cook. My only complaint was I arrived first with my 2 daughters and my husband and other daughter arrived a few hours later, upon arrival the house was completely snowed in, now I do understand that it’s winter and we are in mountains and it snows a lot but I called the rental manager in charge of the property and said “the house is snowed in I have to go up the steps in a foot of snow to get to the door” he said “what do you expect it snows here you will have to shovel it out the shovel is by the door which is up all of the steps on the front deck” so after working all week and then driving to get to a vacation weekend as an almost 50 year old woman the first thing I had to do was shovel the pathway. He said it so matter of fact as if I was stupid to not know that I would need to shovel. So I shoveled the pathway and got myself and the kids into the house. Now I’m in pretty good shape thank god but I thought to myself what if I wasn’t or what if the person renting wasn’t? They would be expected to shovel themself on vacation? That seemed wrong to me to have your guests shovel because well it snows there a lot and what do you expect. So the house itself was great and location to the ski mountain was great. Just make sure if you go in the winter you have your snow boots ready so you can shovel yourself out a walkway to the house as soon as you arrive and have someone able to do that in the car in case the house is snowed in with 2 feet of snow.

Good location
We really liked the location and all the nearby amenities and check in was easy. House was ok; rather expensive for what it was. It was a good large space but not as clean as I’d have expected. Plenty of games and other things to do in the house. Overall it served us well and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful home
The property was just as described and Russ was responsive to all inquiries. We couldn't figure out the fireplace and Russ resolved immediately. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great for a getaway in the woods, stop by the grocery store before you arrive and enjoy the quiet, tranquil area once there! Would definitely rent again.

Great stay
Very nice house in a serene community. House is very close to the beach (walking distance) and in very good condition with good amenities. Wifi works well. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cookware. Need to bring your own towels and sheets. House is pet friendly, so we were able to bring our puppy with us. It was easy to check in and check out. There are a couple of restaurants within 10-20 min drive and a convenience store 10 min. away for basic needs like milk and bread. It is also very close to the ski slopes, so we might consider coming back in the winter. Overall, I would recommend it.
