Very large 2-bedroom with lots of old-world character. Expect original hardwood floors, heavy beams in the living room, a newly updated bathroom, and beautiful wood cabinetry in a fully stocked kitchen. The sofa is also a solid sleeper pull out. The apartment looks down on our parking lot & the back yard of the restaurant. Oh the smells! We're one of the last Authentic German restaurants and Inn's left in country and the apartment is right above it! We hope you love this place as much as we do!

We loved staying in an apartment above Kegel’s Inn. It was very cozy and comfortable. The beds were great, the kitchen is big and the living room is perfect for watching movies with a big couch. It is quite spacious!
This was a pretty dirty rental. Everything needed a good dusting, the floors were very dirty, we laid blankets on the floor for the kids to play on. Bathroom tub was brown with soap scum, the kitchen sink baskets were slimy and full of sludge. The outside of the frige was very dirty as well.
That being said, the host was very accommodating, bringing a pack and play they forgot to provide and extra towels. They answered our questions and replied promptly.
Unfortunately, the German restaurant was closed and the live music wasn’t available as advertised when we booked.
And no toaster or baking sheets.
Even though it is above a restaurant/bar, they close early so it gets quiet by 10 pm. Comfortable and clean. During the colder season in WI, it is fun to have a family dinner in the privacy in one of Kegel’s yurts.
Easy to get to, easy to park, accessible to many activities. Best of all, the German restaurant and bar directly below! We had a delicious dinner and some tasty cocktails. The place was clean, roomy and no problems at all (which is always a plus!) Thank you for a safe, peaceful visit!
The place was perfect for our group of 5. Plenty of space for everyone.
We ate dinner downstairs and the food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. It was so convenient to enjoy drinks downstairs and just walk back upstairs to our room.
Highly recommend!
Great stay and in a great location. Unit we were in was extremely spacious and close to a lot of other things to do. Popped downstairs for a couple drinks and the property owner greeted us and gave us the history of the property and family’s history/ties to it. Very cool place, will definitely stay again when visiting the area!

Just noted a little less than acceptable cleaning if the stair well.
I appreciate the opportunity to stay in the apartment. Hopefully fall cleaning is on the list.
We stayed at Kegel's for one night. We spent the day in MKE and had tickets to a concert at Alpine Valley that night.
The unit was clean and well equipped with what we needed. The photos and online description were very accurate.
We had dinner in the restaurant downstairs before the concert. The food was fantastic.
We would definitely stay here again for a short weekend in MKE
Clean, easy access, good parking. We loved this little apartment. It was great for our ladies night get away. Comfortable sleeping.

A group of 4 of us stayed in Julian's apartment for a Brewers home opener guys trip. We got there after the game, which was just a touch late to eat in the dining room but we were welcomed in by Julian to have a drink at the bar and we got to sample a couple appetizers that were quite good! We had a great time downstairs and then retired upstairs to the apartment which was quite comfortable, clean and well-equipped. It's an awesome and charming place where I would love to stay again when I'm in town!
Came in to town with some buddies to go see a Bucks game. Location was great for what we needed, and our group really enjoyed going downstairs to Kegel’s Inn. We would love to return to come to a Brewers game! Thanks for the hospitality

Great little spaciousness apartment, just a 5 minute drive to the ballpark and right above a German bar. Perfect for a family or a group of friends. I definitely will look into staying here again.
I booked this apartment for a bachelorette weekend with some friends, and it slept 8 super comfortably! The property had everything we needed (all the way down to beer steins ready and frosted in the freezer) and the location was perfect. Everything we wanted to do was only 15 minutes away! The owner is super responsive and when we had questions got back to us right away. Highly recommend!!
The pics really don’t do justice to the property. Beautiful apartments over an amazing restaurant. There was so much space and we didn’t even realize when we booked just how much space there was. Amazing woodwork throughout the apartment and the entire building just has a wonderful history. It’s a great location in the city just a short drive to about anywhere.
As for Kegel’s Inn, below the apartments, whether we were dining as a family or just going down to enjoy drinks, the staff was courteous and made sure that we were enjoying our stay.
We definitely will be booking future trips here!
As huge “How I Met Your Mother” fans, my husband and I always thought it would be fun to live above a bar. However, we’re probably too old for that to be an everyday occurrence. As we were moving out of Milwaukee, where we have lived for a decade, we thought it would be fun to have one last hurrah and live above a bar and it was. We’d highly recommend Kegel’s Inn for a unique lodging experience. The 2 bedroom suite was plenty of space for us and a couple of cousins who came to visit Milwaukee for the weekend. There is on-site parking which was super nice and the fish fry downstairs was great. Checking in was super easy and the hosts were great. If you want something out of the ordinary and you really want a vacation experience, this is the spot for you.
quaint place, plenty of room, great location, safe. The staff that dusts must have been absent. Little to no dish soap, had to go out and get. corona virus weekend! food/drink at restaurant below was great!
We really enjoyed our stay. Unique, spacious, great location and parking. Sorry we didn't get to dine at the German restaurant due to holiday hours, but next time! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
This apartment over Kegel's Inn was the perfect place for my wife and son to stay during Thanksgiving week. The apartment is very large, good kitchen, large living room, and good sized bedrooms. The restaurant just downstairs was a great added bonus and we were able to bring up beer steins to enjoy in the apartment. We met the owner a couple of times and he was very gracious and responsive.
The location for us was perfect and nothing was more than a 30-minute drive away. This will be our goto spot whenever we visit Milwaukee.

About the host
Hosted by Julian Kegel
We are Julian & Stephanie Kegel. We are the fourth generation operators of Kegel's Inn. My Great Grandpa, John Kegel opened this prohibition speakeasy in 1924 and ever since, has been the local's goto for Authentic German fare in the city. We sure love our restaurant, our little city on the lake and the people in the neighborhood surrounding us, but we haven't always been restaurant folk here in Milwaukee. Stephanie & I met in 2010 while we were both guiding in the small coastal town of Seward, Alaska. Both of us, being from the Midwest, had fallen in love with the West Coast, the mountains and the fresh air that came with working in the outdoors. With several years of guiding behind us, we both longed for family support and the proprietorship that came with growing roots in the midwest. We welcome you and the idea that Milwaukee is a great city, one we lovingly now call home. So please, kick back and enjoy your stay at one of the best-kept secrets in Milwaukee!
Why they chose this property
Located in the heart of Milwaukee's West Allis neighborhood, Kegel's Inn serves up the most authentic German cuisine, where everything is made from time honored traditional family recipes. Inside you'll find a warm atmosphere, friendly service and one of the most beautiful beer halls in the country. With incredible hand painted murals, original leaded glass windows, and heavy wooden beams, one can almost hear rounds of "Du Bist Mein Herzen" reverberating in the Bierstube. Since 1924, Kegel's Inn has been the locals' go-to destination for authentic German cuisine and continues to top the charts as one of the best places to catch a Friday Fish Fry in Milwaukee.
