Stayed for a pre-wedding celebration event. Beautiful location, beautiful house and was the perfect place for us to have our celebrations. As a bonus, it's well equipped with everything we needed, particularly the kitchen. Thanks so much for the amazing time!

Incredible stay, can't wait to return ❤️
We stayed here as a group of 13 to celebrate New Years Eve together, and we had the most spectacular time at Jen and Dewi's beautiful property. The place has all the amenties you need, as well as a very inviting feel and incredible views. We can't thank Jen and Dewi enough for inviting us to stay in their handmade (!!) slice of paradise, and we will absolutely be back in the future. 10/10 recommend.

Rural Wonder
We stayed as a group of 9 celebrating significant birthdays. The house really lends itself to groups of friends & family. It was fantastic, well appointed, luxurious rooms & underfloor heating in the big bathroom. Loved the quirkiness and layout of this amazing place. Highly recommend staying here- so much to do in the area or even just enjoy the fabulousness of staying put! Could have easily stayed another night.

Amazing House For Groups with Best Host Ever Experienced
We booked for a group celebration in March 2022 for 15 adults. I have booked many large houses before but have never had a host as friendly, communicative and enthusiastic as Jen. Jen offered to come to the house with her husband Dewi and their catering partner Helen, and cater a three course themed meal for us for a very reasonable price. It completely made our experience - relaxed but professional, involved but also wanting to respect our privacy. They pulled out all the stops to make our weekend amazing. On top of that the house was incredibly well-equipped with every kitchen accessory and pantry item you'd ever need, the rooms were large and comfortable, and the views were amazing. If you are looking for accommodation for your next event then there isn't anything better I've come across in the past, and I highly recommend getting one of the nights catered. - Sam & The Great Gatsby Gang

Fantastico!
This is an amazing property and Jen and Dewi are outstanding hosts! We had a long day of travel from Auckland in the pouring rain to find Jen waiting excited at the door to beckon us in for a wonderful homemade tomato soup, assorted cheese, and local wine that were all delicious! All the while Dewi was outside, in the pouring rain, cooking tomahawk steaks, salmon, and snapper for the 6 of us. The dinner, the wine, the ambiance was all to die for. After dinner, all of the family spent the evening sharing stories with Jen and Dewi like we were old friends catching up before heading up to our cozy bedrooms for a wonderful nights rest. And when we woke, Jen and Dewi were busy preparing a homemade breakfast for us before we left for Hobbiton. To be honest, none of us wanted to leave. Every family member agreed this was the highlight of our two week New Zealand adventure! We will certainly be back, but will defiantly stay longer. This property is a rare jewel run by a lovely kind and generous couple that treat you like family.. Thank you Jen and Dewi!!!

My friends and I had an amazing stay at housewithnonails over New Year’s Eve. It is a beautiful, unique place unlike anything ive ever seen. Jen and Dewi were amazing hosts and available at any and all times if we needed anything. Dewi even came to like the wood bbq for us on NYE. A wonderful house
Jen and Dewi went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We just did the one night but it was perfect, the pictures don't do the house justice! The space and all the rooms are beautiful with personal touches.

About the host

Hosted by Jen and Dewi Roberts,

Host profile image
Dewi is welsh and the "maker" of housewithnonails . Jen is a "kiwi", and they love people, hospitality and putting on beautiful events in their gorgeous country home. Together they host people from all over the world offering a large airy light filled characterful space. Both have travelled the world, love the region and have lots of tips to share with their guests about secret gem destinations, and people who do interesting things.

Why they chose this property

Housewithnonails is a unique wood barn home fashioned after an ancient building method with an amazing story. Local trees fell in cyclone Bola and Dewi which fashioned into beams fastening them with tree nails. A barn raising day saw community came out to help raise it. Set in green fields under the kaimai ranges, near Wairere waterfall, housewithnonails with its chic country interior offers a countryside stay with peace and quiet. In easy reach to geothermal wonderlands, city gardens, Hobbiton movie set, bushwalks, hot pools, mineral spa waters, watersports, parachuting, zoos, cycling routes, golf courses, shopping and restaurant eateries, -this central North Island destination offers something for everyone. Retire at night under the starry sky around the firepit, and let Jen and Dewi pamper you with a candlelit dinner in the barn.

What makes this property unique

Entering the airy light filled barn through a large oak door, guests step into a totally handcrafted raw architectural experience. Ground floor views lead your eye out through a glass solarium over green fields, to the kaimai ranges featuring Wairere waterfall and Mount Te Aroha. This setting offers a completely relaxing private atmosphere, to return to at night, having explore natures offerings. Gather around a firepit under the starry sky and find solitude.
This makes a perfect place for a family or small group of friends wanting a central North Island destination in easy reach of a variety of activities in a gorgeous countryside setting.. Sleeping up to 10 people, it provides the perfect location for a special private function and occasion, a private destination dining experience, and family gatherings with accommodation attached.
