Great Random Fall Weekend 2011
I arranged the stay on the day of arrival and Larry was very supportive to expedite the process. The house is more convenient than we expected being located between the shopping areas and the beach. The facilities are immaculate with up to date appliances and comfortable sleeping accommodations. We would rent this again without hesitation.
Comfortable and Very Clean House with Fabulous Hosts
We had a great stay at Marion's house. Deb and Larry were incredibly responsive and helpful. The house was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our weeklong stay. It was easy to get to the house and we were able to walk to the beach.
From the minute I walked into Marion’s house, was like being at home...such a warm lovely homey spot..though the weather wasn’t cooperative I still enjoyed the closeness to the beach as well as to necessities
Everything was exactly as described. Really nice spacious house suitable for couples or families close to the beach. Nice yard to relax in too.
We really didn’t know the area and it proved to be a perfect location to explore Westerly, Stonington, Watch Hill, Mystic, Block Island etc.
Larry the owner was also really helpful.
Thanks!
What we loved about the house:
Very clean house and had all things needed for a enjoyable vacation. Short drive away from beach as well as downtown. Great communication and response time with the host.
“Marion’s Home” is the absolute vacation rental home. Everything was immaculate, and Deb and Larry were very responsive to any questions I had. I felt like I was visiting family. Everything you could need was here. Beds were very comfortable and linens extremely clean. We love outside showers, and there’s was awesome, we never needed the inside ones. Many spots outside to enjoy coffee and meals. Deb picked a beautiful bouquet of hydrangeas for the table. So thoughtful and homey, just like what I would do. Having passes to a private beach was an awesome perk. Everything so close and definitely walkable. We all want to return to Marion’s Home.
This was incredible! Everything we could have asked for and more. Walkable to the beach and enough space for three of us to not drive each other nuts. I would definitely recommend.
This house was exactly what we needed for our family! Everything was great and house was CLEAN!! Larry, (owner)was easy to get to if you had a question. The only thing I would change, is the time of day that we were able to get in the home! It’s late in the afternoon. Earlier would better!
Very clean house! The first floor is bright, spacious, and has great gathering spots. The screened-in back porch was a favorite for morning coffee, family meals, and just enjoying the beautiful, green backyard.
This was our 5th year at Marion's House. That should tell the whole story. The house fills the needs of my 2 daughters, 3 grandkids and myself. It is the perfect space with every amenity.
We’ve loved staying at your place; great kitchen for cooking for our big group, huge backyard perfect for ages 2-50+, MFD beach passes made everything easy. Thanks for a wonderful week in Misquamicut!
Fabulous yard, great for families, kids loved the swingset, plenty of sitting areas for everyone. House well equipped, nice to have good cleaning appliances for cleanup, outdoor grill like new.
Beware of the 3rd bedroom, no window/ventilation, we rented on a cool week, may be difficult to cool and sleep in there during a hot summer week.

Good location & well equipped. Minimal linens provided.. just a few washclothes and hand towels.
Westerly has beautiful beaches & this house is close. Furniture not as pictured; old & worn, house could use some sprucing up, but overall filled our needs for a beach vacation. Linens not all included. All the other properties we have rented include sheets, bath & beach towels. Since we were driving up from FL it took up a lot of our car space to bring these items.

Comfy kid- friendly home away from home
The house was in great shape and close to beach, shopping, and restaurants. Swing set , screened porchand big back yard saw a lot of use by our grandkids while we were here visiting my Mom at a nearby nursing home and other relatives across the state. Quick drive to Mystic Aquarium and Seaport.

111 Winnipaug was a great property to rent for our family.
"Hi Larry,
We had a great week at Marion's house!! Everything worked well inside and the backyard and driveway were hits for playing ball, swinging and biking. I loved the large oaks for shade in the backyard too. The screened porch was a very much appreciated. We used the outside shower and hoses to remove sand and salt. My daughter, son in law and 2 boys were upstairs and we were down. The separation worked well as we are on different schedules and we were nicely isolated in the downstairs bedroom.
The parking and beach passes were a big help! There was no pressure to get to the beach early to get a parking space. Having the bathrooms at the Fireman's District Beach was good too.
It was nice to know that you and Deb were available to handle problems.
Thanks,
Doug"

Well equipped home within a mile of the beach
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during whay had to be the busiest time of year. The house is on a busy road, but is set back. We worried about beach parking when cars were already lined up in front of the house by 8am! But the private beach parking permit was a vacation saver. There was plenty of parking at 9:30 when we made it down there. Walking down to the beach was not doable with young kids and all our stuff and I would say we are a pretty active family. The house came equipped wth lots of cooking utensils, spices, paper supplies, etc. The multiple air conditioners were also super helpful for the hot week we had. There was also a basketball hoop which the kids loved and plenty of beach supplies. It was by a farm reserve, which made a nice walk down to a sandy beach area with the dog. A little further down was a Audobon park with some walking trails, which also made for a nice walk..although sadly, dogs are not allowed. Overall, a great place to stay!

Great house, great week
House is clean and well furnished. I was lucky to end up in the master bedroom which had it's own bathroom with shower, tv and small porch right outside a sliding door. Other bathrooms on first and second floors also had showers... so with a spacious outdoor shower... no waiting after coming home from the beach. Plenty of space for all in the living room, kitchen and screened in porch. Porch was great for meals with additional table and 'hang out' space in the private backyard.
Beach pass for the car worked out great. One pass but easy to go back and forth to the house. 5 min. top. When we had the whole crew an easy and enjoyable walk and we certainly always had volunteers back and forth every trip so single pass never an issue for us. Trick might be to get down and establish a spot early if your first beach day is Sunday. Beach a bit crowded that day but fine and easy going the rest of the week. Water warm... decent waves. Two bar/restaurants on the beach in each direction are really cool. We had great beach weather all week.
Took a trip out to Block Island on Tuesday. About a half hour to ferry and we were able to get a car reservation for a reasonable price the night before. Town is great and Mohegan Bluffs is spectacular... especially if you can make it down the tough grade to the beach.
Watch Hill 5 minutes from the house and great for shopping, food, ice cream and sunsets. Walk on Napa Tree Point during the sunset is beautiful. We caught 3 sunsets during the week. Parking tough but we always eventually got a spot.
Check out Junk 'n Java for a cup of coffee and a great environment.
Loved it and hope to make it back! Thanks Larry and Deb!

perfect summer vacation
my brother found this place 4 years ago and used it to reconnect with our family. close enough to the beach to walk, perfect to ride your bike to but still quiet and private. the house is roomy and comfortable, the screened in porch is great for morning coffee and better for board games at night. Larry and his sister deb are great hosts, there when you need them and not when you don't. hope to go again next year:)

Lovely home and ideal location to beach
We are a family of six; one Mom, two adult daughters, one son-in-law, two tweens and Chloe the pug. Marion's home is lovely, comfortable and ideally located for accessing the beach or any other activities offered typical of a family vacation. The house provides all the amenities one could hope for in a rental property. We found ourselves congregating on the screen porch at night to talk, read or play a board game and again to enjoy our breakfast al fresco. We would happily request to rent Marion's home again without hesitation.

Absolutely amazing
This is my 4th year renting near Misquamicut. This was by far, the best house we ever stayed in. Larry and Deb are the best and always available for whatever you need. The kitchen has everything you can possibly want and then some. You can tell how much they care for their house by how well maintained it is. The yard is a perfect place to relax and offers plenty of shade on the hot days. I never cooked so much on vacation- but it was so much fun knowing where everything was and how organized it was. The bathrooms were plentiful, and the water pressure was superb. I can't wait to come again next year!!

The house and yard were beautiful, we spent most of our time on the back porch or in the backyard wi
We had a wonderful visit with my mom, she is disabled and cant travel so we brought both of my kids and their kids (which she has never met) and had a fantastic visit. I made all the arrangements with Larry but he was out of town so we worked with sister Deb, she was amazing, she took an actual interest in mt mom and our family, i cant say enough about her. I would recommend this house to anyone staying in the area, if we have another reunion it will be at this house. Thanks so much Deb

Cozy and wonderful even in the winter
We contacted Larry two days before Christmas. He was heavily engaged in getting his own house and family gifts ready for the Holidays. After trading a couple of cell phone messages he said he had closed Marion’s House (the rental property).
However, even though the house had been closed because of the cold weather of December he immediately responded to our need and quickly scrambled to open the house for us…warming the interior, moving some yard and porch furniture outside so we could enjoy the unseasonably mild weather and putting fresh towels and linens out for the three bedrooms we were to occupy, even supplying us with new warm winter blankets. The bathrooms are spotless with all new fixtures. The kitchen is also spotless with toaster, coffee maker and every pot, pan and appliance one could ever need.
All in all, Larry provided quick turnaround time for the house when you consider Santa was probably readying his reindeer for the night’s journey. The house was immaculate and the updated furniture was more fashionable than what was shown on the web site.
We arrived to find a lovely note on top of a welcome basket of treats for our stay. His sister in helping to get the house ready even put out a few strings of Christmas lights in case we wanted to decorate the house for the season. We will definitely look to return to this great house again. Its perfect - winter or summer!!!

Clean and spacious, great for families.
We enjoyed our week at Marion's House, particularly the screen porch and convenient location. The large back yard is suitable for families, as is the capacious "kids' room." Plenty of space, except we thought the room with double bed would be suitable for a 2nd couple, which it really was not; it is small, no closet , no windows, and a curtain for a door. (Owners said they would fix that, so I'd ask if that's important to you. )
The owners were gracious and responsive to our calls and concerns. Great well-stocked kitchen/dining room.

Why they chose this property
My mom built this house in 1997. She recently passed away. I have left the house basically as she had it with her artwork and furniture. It is not a typical beach cottage, but rather a year-round home that has been meticulously maintained and cared for.
What makes this property unique
I have added an outdoor shower and screened in the back deck with permanent screening and lighting. It has a handicap ramp in the back and is clean and brightly decorated. Far enough away from the bars and crazy nightlife noise, yet close enough to walk to the beach, the house is 800 yards from the ocean, an 8-10 minute walk or 2 minute drive. Biking is a great option.
