Kirk is a fourth-generation Washingtonian whose family has lived on Capitol Hill since the late 1800s, and where he continues to live today with his wife and two children. Kirk's Great-Grandmother, Margaret, purchased this 1890 Victorian home In 1905 to entice one of her two daughters to raise her own family in the neighborhood. Kirk's Great Aunt, Nell, and her husband, John, raised their 12 children in this home.

In 2008 at the behest of Kirk's 82-year-old cousin, Kirk's family purchased the house from relatives who had owned or lived in the house since 1905, and then they spent over two years meticulously restoring and renovating the home, blending old-world Victorian charm and ambiance with new world appliances and technology.

Today, Kirk's family, now a fifth generation of Washingtonians, are honored to offer you the opportunity to experience residential living in the newly updated guesthouse, right in the heart of our Nation's Capitol, at the Historic Eastern Market on Capitol Hill!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT
This home was better than expected and the location was absolutely perfect! We were by everything we needed...food, grocery and the Metrorail was a 2 min walk which we used everday. Once on that all the attractions were just a short trip away. The host of this home was very responsive and we met him and is genuinely one of the nicest people we have ever met. If you are going to DC this is the place to stay!!! We really cant thank this host enough for our wonderful stay!

Definitely "Fabulous"!
Wow! The location of this property could not have been better for our vacation with convenient access to the Metro or Trader Joe's/CVS or restaurants or the Mall. Kirk's communication was outstanding and extremely thorough. The residence was very clean. It was the perfect spot to rest each evening after a day of sight-seeing or to stroll through the neighborhoods admiring the architecture after dinner. I highly recommend this venerable Victorian!

Neat house in a great neighborhood
We spent a week exploring DC and this location was perfect. Easy walk to Capitol Hill, metro station about a block away, and plenty of restaurants & coffee shops close by. The house is charming & comfortable. The owner is exceptionally accommodating.

This is a great place to stay. Great little restaurants within a couple blocks, little grocery store just around the corner, and a half block to metro station. We took the metro many times and were impressed by how clean and modern it was. The apartment is lovely, like it’s described, and in a very safe area. My wife and I are 70 and getting luggage up the stairs was a bit difficult (this is more on us than the place, should pack more efficiently) but we would come here again in an instant. The whole process of check in and out was easy, and the instructions were simple. Highly recommend this place.

The listing is 1000% accurate, and the reviews about about the host Kirk are even more accurate. Kirk is very hospitable very knowledgeable about the area and things you want to do and how to do them. Very clean nice little cottage feel, steps to the metro to get anywhere you need to go. Nice area good restaurant. It was very quiet when we stayed

Simply OUTSTANDING
Great communication with Kirk prior to visit, information provided was very useful. The location is outstanding, the close proximity to the Metro is great, we used the Metro extensively, only 3 Uber's in 5 days. Numerous quality restaurants within walking distance. This seems to be a family friendly area, we saw numerous children walking to school in the morning. Don't pass on this one.

Exactly as described! Very clean with all the comforts of home. Within walking distance to everything you need-groceries/alcohol, restaurants and transportation. We parked our car out front and didn’t move it the entire week. Took the Metro everywhere; really easy to figure out! Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Kirk!

Great second story apartment
It’s a great apartment in a great location! Very easy to communicate with host! Parking can be a little tricky finding a spot and the narrow staircase can be a bit challenging while trying to navigate luggage but overall It’s a wonderful place to stay!!

Great location to metro in a charming neighborhood
The location of this property is wonderful. It was 1/2 a block from the metro, which allowed us to take it in to the mall area within maybe 10 to 15 minutes. There was an entire street of restaurants 1 street behind the property and a Trader Joes and CVS all very close. Our favorite quick restaurants nearby was Πzza, and we had a fantastic burger at Eat Brgz. The owner was very thorough with his instructions and made it very easy to check in. He also allowed us to leave our bags in a designated area after check out since our flight didn't leave til later, which was so nice. The unit itself was very clean. We loved the front living area to hang out at night. The only issues we had were with the filtered water on the fridge and the dryer not working properly, but Kirk was aware and planned on fixing those small issues. We absolutely loved the people in Washington DC, and the charm of the neighborhood, and would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Victorian on Capitol Hill. As said in other reviews the location was excellent, close to the Metro and walkable neighborhoods with charming rowhouses. The apartment was very clean, with a comfortable bed and great living and kitchen spaces. Would definitely stay here again!

Our visit was perfect! The location was so convenient to the Metro, which allowed us to get anywhere we were headed. To groceries and the market so we could cook when it suited us, and to tasty restaurants when it didn’t! The property itself was clean and well cared for. Comfortable. And had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely be back!

A Row House Gem!
It was such a pleasure staying in a well-maintained, modern-applianced, classic row house. As we walked in various residential areas of DC we saw houses like ours and felt like we belonged. The property is located in a safe, attractive, residential neighborhood, very walkable to restaurants and transportation, even a small grocery store as well as bars and coffee shops and lively local businesses. We highly recommend the one-dollar-a-ride Circulator bus for getting to other areas of the city, with stops for two different lines a mere block away. The host was very responsive. He did mention that sound carries in these older houses and we could occasionally hear the tenants below and felt that we should be careful about the volume of our voices, not shouting from room to room-- but this is a negligible adjustment to make in a really lovely situation.

Location! Location! Location! Being a block from the Metro station and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and a Trader Joe’s made this stay easy, efficient and comfortable. Communication was smooth and apartment was well appointed and comfortable. Definitely will stay here again.

All we could have hoped for!
This is a beautiful space that is exactly as advertised! We had a wonderful time in DC and this space made it feel like home. Communication from the owner was open, informative and very pleasant. The space is literally half a block from the metro and in a safe location. We were able to park on the street right in front of the building and did not move our car throughout our entire stay. The space was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The washer and dryer were a great bonus amenity. We had a lovely time and really enjoyed staying here. We would definitely recommend the space and host. We hope to be able to return in the future.

Fantastic location
We had a fabulous time in this house - kitchen was updated with all we needed, there was a washer & drier in the unit and the bed was super comfortable. As a plus, the water pressure was amazing and the high ceilings gave a wonderful sense of lightness and space. It was so close to the metro we didn't have to drive anywhere, which was a big plus. Our advance communication with Kirk was so thorough (including a page long email with ideas of where to go in DC) that we didn't need to contact him at all while staying there. We'll definitely book here again for our next trip to DC.
