About this property

JUST RENOVATED! Dog-friendly Cozy Cabin With Mountain View & Fire Pit

We just finished a 10-mo renovation! You'll love our very secluded cabin with a great view and rustic touches. Beautiful drives on curvy mountain roads lead to the quaint mountain towns of Highlands and Cashiers. Enjoy a completely private, quiet and recently-renovated cabin overlooking Black Mountain. You'll wake up to this amazing view in the upstairs primary bedroom with a king bed, and enjoy your coffee on the small balcony. The first-floor bedroom has a queen bed, with French doors that open to a covered porch and wonderful view. If needed, a blow-up mattress is available--simply roll the kitchen island out of the way to make space! To ensure we keep everything clean and sanitized for all guests, overnight sleeping on the couch is not permitted. You'll have your choice of several outdoor spaces, including the amazing aforementioned covered, screened-in porch. In the near future for cooler months, this year-round room can be kept warm by rolling down the acrylic windows and turning on the outdoor heaters. A large deck with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the mountain view is perfect on sunny days and it boasts an outdoor eating area, which is perfect for enjoying the summer nights. A tin-roof deck with a hanging day bed for a relaxing afternoon is a must while you're at the cabin. You'll feel whisked away to two different worlds, depending on the direction that you look while swaying in the bed. You can bring yourself to the deep forest or imagine hiking the mountains. The tin-roof deck also comes with full-size propane and charcoal grills. Adirondack chairs surround the fire pit, in the natural setting of the woods. You will be minutes away from a natural sliding rock, hiking trails, shopping, golf courses, lakes and many wonderful restaurants. Dogs are welcome anytime (max 2, NTE 50 lbs each or contact us to discuss), and if interested/needed, we store two collapsible kennels for your use. The cabin comes equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, sheets, bedding, towels, and a hair dryer. We have Starlink internet, a smart DVD player and a Google Chromecast for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Finally, there's a laundry room upstairs for your use.

The first and last third of the driveway to get to the property is a little steep. Although a truck or SUV would make it up there easier than other vehicles, we've had all type of cars and trucks that make it up just fine, including small 4-door sedans. If you drive SLOWLY, it won't be a problem at all. We've also had experienced motorcyclists up there. The driveway is naturally and purposely bumpy. We keep it maintained but due to the heavy rainfall, in between maintenance, it can get quite bumpy. Also, there are culverts placed in various spots to divert the water down the hill.

Security cameras are on site, outside only. $250 fee for tampering with cameras or equipment.

This cabin is adorable and has everything you might need from a rental. There is a beautiful deck that completely closes to allow your dogs to enjoy the space. The views are spectacular.

Mountain Getaway

My husband, son (10), daughter (8), and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay... it was exactly what we hoped for, a beautiful secluded cabin with amazing views. It was perfect for our family and our kids loved running around and exploring outside. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations and the views in the mornings and evenings were spectacular. Will definitely be coming back for repeat visits!

Perfect Mountain Cabin

My wife and I spent a week here celebrating our Anniversary. We've stayed at many other NC mountain cabins throughout the years and this one is at the top of our list. Great location... Nestled in the woods halfway between Cashiers and Highlands with a beautiful mountain view. The owners have done a great job keeping this place up with lots of special touches and have thought of everything to help their guests enjoy their stay.

Wonderful, secluded getaway!

Our 3-night getaway to Jennifer & Brandon’s cabin was wonderful! Despite raining most of the time and brief power outage, the cabin was perfect and exactly what we needed! It was convenient to both Highlands and Cashiers, and they have thought of everything their guests might need and taken care of making sure it’s available at the cabin. Our dog Layla also loved the change of scenery. Highly recommend, and I hope to be repeat guests!

Great getaway!

My husband & I had a wonderful vacation to the area & our dog Lucy really appreciated getting to come with us-- she really enjoyed all the waterfalls & swimming she got to do, & absolutely loved having a gated porch to hang out on during the day to enjoy the weather! The views were top notch (early sunset was really nice), & waking up to the view of the mountain was gorgeous! Jennifer was very easy to get in touch with (though we didn't need anything) & we had a wonderful time!

Cutest house with best view!

We had so much fun at this house! Our only complaint is it was a little further from town than we had hoped, but still not too far (15-20min). We went on a very crowded weekend, so it was very nice to be secluded and away from everyone. Beautiful view, super clean, and loved being able to bring our sweet pups! Jennifer, the owner, was so easy to get in contact with and so kind. We will definitely be back!

Cozy Cabin

House was clean and organized. The views from the open terrace and the fire pit are amazing. Huge window in family room so even when inside you can watch the mountains. Downside is that it is about 2 miles of tricky road to get in and out every time… Once out of that road you are right in between Cashiers and Highlands.

Great Cabin in the NC Mountains

We loved the seclusion of this cozy comfy cabin. The view of the mountain was spectacular. We spent late afternoons in the sun on the deck. The proximity to Highlands, Cashiers and many waterfall hikes was perfect. The cabin itself was spotless, thoughtfully stocked and decorated. The driveway was fun and not a big deal. We had our Pilot but the Honda Accord would have been just fine. Thanks for sharing your place Jennifer!

Cozy off the beaten path getaway!

The house and property were beautiful, and the place is immaculate, including the shed! Jennifer was super helpful as we took a little bit of a wrong turn and she was with us every step of the way. Hiking trail less than 2 miles away was a plus. And this may sounds odd, but if you enjoy history there is a cemetery near by that is worth a visit. The hammock under the tin roof during a rain was just what I needed for some relaxation. It was further than Highlands though than we expected so make sure you have enough food and drink so you don’t have to leave! Thank you for a wonderful weekend away!

Bring your Rubber Gloves to wash dishes!

Nice mountain view from the deck. Very DARK cabin inside with tiny TV, tiny bathroom, tiny bedrooms. NO dishwasher here, so bring your rubber gloves to wash dishes. Had to clean the dishes damp from the previous renter. Bath towels stained. Pretty outside fire pit but Un-pleasant stay overall. Try another cabin closer to town.

Lovely well appointed cabin.

We loved the cabin and area. Everything was done perfectly and we were very comfortable. Seems the owner had thought of everything. We missed having live TV. We are not very technical and found the TV hard to work. The road up the hill is a real challenge. We have an SUV but its not four wheel drive. We bottomed out a few times getting up the hill. Learned to go really slowly and remembered where the big bumps were in the road. I wouldn't attempt it after dark. Such beautiful views from the cabin. Loved the porch and the serenity. Would advise anyone coming to stop on the way for food in highlands or cashiers. Both are close in miles but it takes a while on the mountain curves.

Cute cabin with great view

My husband and I recently spent a week at this precious cabin. Recently remodeled, the accommodations were very nice for just the two of us and our Cavalier spaniel. The view of the mountains and lovely porch with comfortable chairs were exceptional. However, visitors must know there is no tv service although we spent several nights watching some great movies on Netflix on the tv provided. We also had a hard time with the internet and phone service. My husband has his own business and it was very frustrating not being able to get in touch with employees in his office. We had to drive into Cashiers about five miles to connect to service. For some people this would not be an issue but I feel for our situation this should have been emphasized before we arrived. Also the cabin is closer to Cashiers than Highlands which would possibly make a difference in the route one would take to get there. All in all we had a nice time. Cashiers is such a lovely town and we enjoyed the many restaurants and visiting with friends. The Fall festival was taking place while we were there and I would suggest timing a fall trip to coincide with it. We were able to take our dog and visit the upscale booths, enjoy the music and food. Fall is the perfect time to visit.

Such a great cabin!

The kitchen was really well stocked! A lot of places say that, but then are not, this place really was. The bed was comfy, the bedrooms are small but totally manageable. Beautiful views and a really quiet area! It was great having the fireplace for the chilly evenings.

Nice anniversary getaway

A great cozy cabin with a great view! You will love this place and multiple places to relax. The owners are great hosts and quick to respond if you need help. It happened to be the food and wine festival in Highlands which is a great little town near Cashiers. Look forward to coming back soon.

About the host

Host profile image
Brandon and I are Air Force Veterans, so after being stationed in eastern Carolina and falling in love with the state, we decided to retire in Charlotte. Brandon is a pilot and I have a finance background, but I do professional organizing and interior decorating. We absolutely love North Carolina for everything it offers--the small towns, the ocean and lakes, the cities, and of course the best part...the stunning, peaceful mountains. We have two very spoiled dogs, both rescues, named Kenzie and Lexi.

Why they chose this property

I'm from Michigan and Brandon is from Tennessee, so we've spent considerable time in the woods. We both adore spending time in nature, just enjoying it's beauty. We were married in Highlands and completely fell in love with the area. We had always talked about buying a cabin and decided to just go for it. We were fortunate enough to find a gem of a spot, bought it and renovated it. It is truly my favorite place to spend time and enjoy the beautiful views. It's so quiet, peaceful and wonderful.

What makes this property unique

This little cabin was only 500 square feet when we found it. It needed a lot of work and had been passed up many times by several potential buyers. I was stunned when I saw the property and we could see the potential this great little spot had to offer. After purchase, we immediately hired a contractor and began a renovation in 2016 to expand it by 250 feet and built a beautiful deck to enjoy the stunning views. We just added a 2nd story and did another complete renovation that was finished in Oct 2024.
