About this property

Inside Deep Creek National Park & 10 minutes from the Kangaroo Island Ferry.

There are many B&B-s for rent but what makes our accommodation truly special is that it is the only place where you can stay inside Deep Creek National Park, a place of spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. Yes, that's right, Southern Ocean Retreats is the sole provider of a range of accommodation at different locations in what many regard as the jewel of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The Deep Creek Homestead is located in its own secluded valley overlooking the nearby Tappanappa Creek as it meanders its way to the Southern Ocean. The combination of a delightful décor and unbeatable location make it a favourite for family get togethers or a place to showcase Australia's wildlife to overseas guests. With polished jarrah floors throughout the Homestead is a spacious place to stay offering 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms an open kitchen dining area and a formal lounge with cosy wood fire.

It is fully equipped with cooking facilities and all linen is provided for your convenience as well as wood for the slow combustion heaters. Guests also receive a complimentary Park Entry Pass for use during their stay. Relax on your balcony overlooking the spring fed dam and watch as kangaroos feed in their natural habitat only metres away.

Extensive outdoor areas include a second balcony with outdoor dining furniture that has distant views of the Southern Ocean, a tennis court and gas BBQ.

Explore the parks beauty along with its many lookouts and walks including the famous Heysen Trail.
Watch the Western Grey Kangaroos feed in the open grasslands at dawn and dusk.
After a day of exploring one of South Australia's most important semi-wilderness regions settle in for the night with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over this most spectacular scenery.

Only 90 minute drive south of Adelaide, 10 minutes from the Kangaroo Island Ferry and within easy reach of many attractions, restaurants and wineries.

A beautiful family holiday
Deep Creek homestead was a beautiful slice of paradise. The house and property was absolutely beautiful and the feeling of peace was just divine. The beds were so comfortable and we loved that there were two bathrooms. The house had everything you needed. The kids loved seeing all the kangaroos surrounding the property. We highly recommend this property to everyone. We will definitely be back.

Undiscovered beauty
We loved our short stay at the Deep Creek Homestead. The house was very comfortable for our adult family of 6, Great cooking facilities for self catering, fun games provided and comfortable beds. Perfect location for exploring this gem of a national park in South Australia and getting away from it all. Jane was lovely to communicate with.

Lovely homestead in Deep Creek nature
Had a great 3 night stay with extended family here. Loved that there were 2 fireplaces, which did a great job of keeping us all toasty warm on a windy and rainy weekend, the huge windows in the kitchen and master bedroom made looking out at the birds and kangaroos (with joey's!) an easy past time. Enjoyed the various books, magazines, old school radio/speaker and games in the lounge. Kids loved the tennis court. Good vehicle access to the house and well connected to the main sights of the conservation park. Comfy beds, hot showers. Surrounded by nature in a very comfy house, without any others in sight and limited phone/internet reception (seems the carpark is the best place for reception), is a great reason to just relax, unwind and live the slow life for a while.

Wonderful house for switching off
We enjoyed having screen-free time during our stay at Deep Creek Homestead (no TV, no WiFi and limited phone reception) which enabled us to focus on other things such as exploring the grounds and cards/board games. It’s a great base for exploring Deep Creek Conservation Park and the wonderful walks on offer. We also appreciated the high quality bed linen, towels and electric blankets included for our stay. Jane and Barry were great hosts.

Nature at your backdoor
This property provided a beautiful snapshot of Australian wildlife as every morning we woke up to see the kangaroos feeding outside one of the windows. Our daughter, who has only just learned to walk, was especially motivated to take independent steps around the house to see them bounce by the windows. The lack of internet and television encouraged quality family time in a beautiful woodfire setting.

We are a small family owned business who decided to make a sea change, leave the city life and careers in Adelaide back in late 1993. We started our business in January in 1994. and have 6 self contained holiday accommodation inside Deep Creek National Park. In 2024 we will be celebrating 30 years in nature stay accommodation the Fleurieu Peninsula..
This is our sole source of income so we take what we do seriously and aim to provide a memorable experience for our guests.
Although we have been in business for nearly 3 decades we are relatively new to adding our accommodation to Stayz and other booking platforms as we have our own website. In the past we have been fortunate to have a high repeat customer base where our guests would book direct but we have found that the booking landscape has changed and more and more accommodation providers are using these platforms to attract guests to their accommodation properties. Therefore the addition of some of our accommodation to this platform.
We have always enjoyed connecting with our guests in some way either via phone or face to face and are proud to showcase our region and Deep Creek National Park.
We hope when you stay with us you will leave with fond memories of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Fleurieu Peninsula because just loved the National Park, the landscape and beaches in the area.
We also love the fact that it is only 90 minutes south of Adelaide which makes it an easy and scenic drive to this stunning coastal area.

What makes this property unique

Our properties are all located right in the heart of Deep Creek National Park. Situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula only a 90 minute drive from the South of Adelaide it is the ideal weekend or holiday destination. Close to the start of the famous Heysen Trail and a 10 minute easy drive to the Kangaroo Island Ferry Terminal at Cape Jervis makes our accommodation an ideal stopover before and after a trip to Kangaroo Island.
We are also located close to the small beachside hamlets of Rapid Bay and Second Valley making our properties the ideal secluded but central place to stay.
Normanville, Carrickalinga and Yankalilla are located approximately 30 minute drive away where you will be able to discover some of the quaint little shops on offer.
If you are wanting to visit the seaside coastal town of the popular Victor Harbor it is a 45 minute drive along the Range Road so you can spend the day shopping or eating at one the special dining areas on offer.
