Fully self contained 4 bedroom house - sleeps 7 people.
2 bedrooms with queen sized beds , 3rd bedroom has 2 single beds,1 single bed room, quality linen throughout. 1 en suite bathroom and 1 main bathroom with bath. Lounge has large TV with DVD/CD/video players. Main bedroom has TV/DVD/ USB port. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry (no tumble drier but washing line outside. BBQ on back veranda. Large outdoor parking area. Room to park your boat. Fish cleaning facility available. Ceiling fans for cooling in summer.
All this set on top of a hill over looking Pelican's Lagoon.

Minimum of 4 night stay during holiday periods and 3 nights for off season.

Locality

American River is a great jumping off area to go see the many attractions on the Island. Great walks, wonderful bird life. Fishing charters available at Emu bay or bring your own fishing rods to fish off the American River jetty. Boat launching facilities available at American River wharf.
View kangaroos, birds and if you are lucky an echidna from the front veranda. Feel free to fill up the birdbaths in the garden.
Kangaroo Island is like living in a beautiful national park and the list goes on.

Fantastic location

This is a perfect getaway for a group of friends. We have two 80+year olds in our group. Bathroom access was easy. Beds were comfortable . Location is central to the islands sightseeing attractions. No easy wifi access meant we spent the evenings enjoying each others company.

Perfect beach house for our stay on the beautiful Kangaroo Island.

My family really enjoyed our time at Pelican Retreat. Great, central location on the island. House has lots of bedrooms and is well stocked with kitchen utensils etc. Stunning view including the sunset on the deck every night. We were lucky to have a koala family living in the trees across the road. The owners make it very clear to bring everything and you must including items like soap, clothes washing powder, salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee etc. Shop up before you come over or plentiful supplies can be purchased in Penneshaw or Kingscote. The house and yard is secure and gated with plenty of room. Large outdoor clothes line. No cooling so on one very hot, windless day we found the night sleeping very warm but most evenings are cool and windy so opening up the plentiful windows cooled the house quickly. Our girls had a taste of sleeping with wet towels and they now won't take our air-conditioning for granted. A good lesson. Thanks for our stay. Would definitely stay again if we are ever lucky enough to visit Kangaroo Island again.

Big family size property

Blended Family Vacation

Property is older but clean, neat and tidy. Great view from the front deck and communication was seamless with Anele. We did have an issue using 2 heaters in the back rooms at the same time; but was fine when using one at a time. Good location which felt central on the island.

Fantastic family holiday

Thank you for a fantastic place to stay. Beautiful views, soft snuggly towels, a well equipped kitchen, and a supply of wood for the fire made this a very comfortable home away from home. The welcome pack was also very thoughtful. Would come back again

Great location

Lovely place to visit but awful weather

The house and location were beautiful and would have made a great base for our family holiday. Unfortunately the weather and fires on Kangaroo Island had other ideas and we had to leave early. Everyone on the island was extremely friendly and helpful in the face of adverse conditions. Carol in particular was most considerate - monitoring the fire movement and warning us to vacate the property in plenty of time. We will all definitely be back!

Pelican Retreat

My friends, my son, and I really enjoyed staying in this cozy place. It was a good size, with thoughtful touches left for us, and beautiful views. We were surrounded by nature at night, and in a great location overall on the Island.

This was a great place for a family holiday with a nice view over the village and lagoon.

The house was very suitable for our party of five with one bedroom spare. We enjoyed the sunsets from the front balcony each day. The island was fab. We did all the lighthouses and the other sights. Caught some fish and squid. Swam on the hot days (and some of the cooler ones). While we brought fresh supplies with us from the mainland the supermarkets at Kingscote and Penneshaw were pretty good, just a bit light on fresh stuff over the Xmas week.Thoroughly recommend the island and the house.

Spectacular Views

We had a great time at Pelicans Retreat. We never tired of the magnificent view. Found it central and easy to go sightseeing. Enjoyed the food and wineries within easy driving. Would definitely stay again.

Boys Fishing Trip

The house was very clean and ideal for our fishing trip. Lots of room for the boat and it had fish cleaning facilities. It has great views and you can dine at front or at the rear of the house.

Fantastic Experience

Lovely place to layback and relax

Totally enjoyed our stay at Pelicans Retreat. House was fully fitted out - couldn't have asked for more, very spacious and clean. Loved being a little out of town, but not completely isolated, made for interesting discovery walks and great views overlooking the river. Would certainly like to stay there again someday.

The view was fabulous! Easy living, nice deck, real beach house, even videos were a bit retro and great for the kids! Out of range for mobile phones which is a GOOD things,(well, actually you could get it from the corner of the deck) and no dishwasher, so kids have to do them, also good!
