A beautiful couples retreat
A relaxed rural retreat with wildlife galore set within beautiful gardens. We explored the local cafes, shops and restaurants all within walking distance of our apartment. This is the perfect place for couples who want to getaway from it all. Our hosts were fantastic, with endless breakfast provisions and a delicious basket of fruit supplied - they had thought of everything! Highly recommend - we will be back!

Garden getaway!
The property is in a magnificent garden setting one feels surrounded by plants and birds. It is very tranquil and the B&B has everything that one could possibly need with instructions on how to use the items. The hosts are very helpful and kind. A most pleasant place to stay and an easy walk into Stirling.

Perfect escape
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Adelaide Hills Bed and Breakfast over the long weekend. The view out of the accomodation over the garden is amazing. Relaxing in the accomodation, coffee in hand looking out of the large corner window whilst it poured with rain was very nice! Room was very well provisioned with food and all cutlery and crockery needed. Highly recommend!

A valley wonderland.
The pictures of the gardens and surrounding walkways etc. do not do this accommodation justice. We had a lovely day on New Year’s Eve wondering the gardens. A true engineering marvel with the watering system and all the planning that would have gone into it. The room was very well appointed and had everything we needed. It was the first time we have stayed right next to host/owners but was very happy with the lay out and privacy, next time we would love to chat more about the garden etc. Thanks a lot. Ben & Jennifer

The garden in Autumn with its tapestry of trees and shrubs, birds and winding paths down into the gulley was beautiful and the big windows gave one a lovely view from inside. There is a pleasant walk along the two tree lined roads on either side of the property to pretty Stirling village which has everything one needs but isn't overly touristy. It was conveniently near to the Mt Lofty Botanic Garden, the Heysen estate and to Adelaide. As a gardener myself,I was sorry not to meet the owners who were overseas at the time of my stay.

About the host

Hosted by Barbara Metzger

Host profile image
I was born in Angola Africa and lived for the first half of my life in Southern Africa. Since 1981 in Australia and from 1989 in Stirling, were my husband and I had our house built and were we created the garden which is our very own rainforest which we like to share with visitors.

Why they chose this property

We bought a block of land and build a home with one wing as a self contained suite. The large block with a creek and embankments lend itself to realise our dreams of a rainforest setting garden with camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons and of course over 100 tree ferns, cooperi and dixonia, as well as a great variety of other plants into perspective. The garden is our paradise with visiting koalas and an array of birds. There is a balcony for you to sit, or a bench under shady elm trees.

What makes this property unique

Only 20 minutes to the city of Adelaide, yet a world away. Nature and quietness. Within walking distance to the village of Stirling and bus stop.
