About this property

Catninga Station Flinders Ranges

Want to visit the magnificent Flinders Ranges with out travelling long distances? It's all here!

Located 26k's East of Port Augusta and nestled at the base of Mount Brown, Catninga is surrounded by spectacular views of the awe inspiring Flinders Ranges and the distant blue waters of Spencer Gulf.

Observe abundant flora and fauna including Kangaroos, emus, goannas and echidnas to name just a few.

When we have the time, we like to sit on the front verandah and watch the sunset. You are invited to share some nibbles and a drink with us on these occasions.

While enjoying your stay at Catninga, why not engage your hosts to take you on the exclusive 4x4 ridge top track. You won't be disappointed!

Enjoy scenic trails and tracks from rugged gorges with amazing rock formations and majestic gum creeks, to high ridge tops, where resident wedge-tailed eagles are often seen playing in the updrafts. The views from up there are breathtaking.

Take a hike along the Heysen Trail. It's on our boundary.

Use Catninga as a base to explore the surrounding old country towns or just sit and soak up the beauty and serenity that surrounds you.

Close Attractions include Pichi Richi Steam Train located at Quorn, a short and scenic drive away, Wadlata Outback Centre & Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, all located at Port Augusta as well as full shopping and health requirements.

Overnight stop
Very well appointed and clean accommodation, sad that we didn’t have more time to discover the area as we only had a quick overnight stop.

Great outback experience.
Stayed in June 2017, weather was good, accommodation, warm, cosy and inviting. Fantastic views and plenty of station life to experience. Outdoor fire was great. Our dog loved the place.

Why they chose this property

Catninga is in the middle of the Southern and Northern Flinders Ranges, and is the ideal location to visit the magnificent Flinders Ranges. A day trip will easily take you to the spectacular Northern or the rolling Southern Flinders. If you don't want to drive, Catninga has the most spectacular views right at the back door waiting to be explored.

What makes this property unique

The converted vintage rail carriage was once a freezer van and is made of double skin solid wood. The wooden arched ceiling is a unique feature of the accommodation. The fully tiled ensuite adds a little bit of luxury to your stay.
A small but fully equipped kitchen makes food preparation easy.
