About this property

Manta Ray Bed and Breakfast

The B&B environment is Bali-inspired and the accommodation is situated within a lush,tropical garden compound. Guest accommodation is in a separate wing separated from the main house by a large salt water pool.

There are two guest rooms each with QS bed, fan, air-conditioning, bar fridge, TV. The nightly rate is for one room and based on 2 people sharing a QS bed. It is our policy when renting one room not to let the other as we do not expect guests who do not know each other to share a bathroom. If 2 single people want separate rooms, an extra fee of $80/night is charged. Both rooms can be reserved for family/friends bookings. When booking the two rooms for 2 extra family/friends a special discounted nightly rate is offered for the extra room.. The nightly rate includes a substantial, tropical style breakfast.

Guests have full use of the heated pool and garden and are welcome to relax on the day bed.

At the rear of the accommodation are cane fields stretching to rainforest covered mountains and beautiful, pristine, white sanded and palm fringed Newell Beach - over 3.5km long and flanked by two rivers, is just a two minute stroll from the back gate and can be viewed from the main house. Here you can walk, sunbathe, fish and/or watch the sea eagles or resident manta ray hunting.

Tropical North Queensland is a region internationally recognised for its world class natural attractions like the Great Barrier Reef, Mossman Gorge, Daintree River and Rainforest, with crocodiles, butterflies and tropical birds, Cape Tribulation where the rainforest meets the reef, Atherton Tablelands (Cairns hinterland) which offers bird watching, crater lakes and waterfalls. It is also famous for its climate, "beautiful one day, perfect the next". Newell Beach and surrounds offers something for everyone, simply relaxing, or access to an interesting variety of tours and or adventure experiences.

Locality

Newell Beach is 75 kms - just over an hour's drive from Cairns International Airport and only a 20 minute drive from Port Douglas with its boutique shops and galleries and world class restaurants. It is a gateway to the region's two magnificent national parks; the spectacular Great Barrier Reef , teeming with an infinite variety of fish life and vibrant, colourful corals; and the stunning Daintree Rainforest with its unique flora and fauna. There are also related tours and sightseeing opportunities to cater for a wide variety of interests.

A total gem!
Can’t recommend this place enough. Anne is a fabulous host, and the space is exactly as pictured. Felt like we were in Bali! The pool is shared with the hosts but it still feels very private, and the breakfast spread is really generous. Stayed here with our 8month old and it all felt very easy. Highly recommend.

A peaceful paradise
Anne and Fernando have created a delightful and peaceful retreat at Newell Beach. Our room and ensuite bathroom was clean and beautifully appointed and we appreciated the little extras that were provided to make our stay so enjoyable. The beautiful gardens provide a welcome place to relax, read, watch the birds and the pool was wonderful. Our breakfasts were fabulous! We highly recommend staying at Manta Ray BnB. From the time we walked through the front gate, through the bali inspired gardens, my daughter and i loved every minute of our stay at Manta Ray. Anne and Fernando were so lovely, sharing stories over breakfast and giving us great ideas of where to explore next. The pool was warm and welcoming on our over cast day. That and the surrounds melt away any stress you have. Topped off with the best sleep in a very comfy bed. As we hugged our hosts farewell, we promise to return.

A Taste of Bali in the Wet Tropics (North of Port Douglas)
Manta Ray Bed and Breakfast is the best B&B we have stayed at ever. The hosts, Anne and Fernando, were beyond friendly, providing us with a very warm welcome, lots of local information, and just great conversation. They have put lots of love into what they do for their guests and the property is gorgeous, exceeding our expectations on many fronts. The decor was very unique. We had an extremely relaxing time here. Their pool is also very nice to take a dip in during the heat. And not to mention, our daily breakfasts were absolutely delicious, with the gourmet breakfast varying from day to day. We could only wish we could have stayed longer!

Our only regret staying here is that we did not stay longer! Anne and Fernando were such gracious hosts and were amazing with our kids. The accommodations were impeccable and heaven on earth. Breakfast was timely and delicious. This was our favorite place we stayed during our two week visit to Australia. My son keeps talking about returning and speaks of Anne and Fernando as if they are family. We cannot wait to return someday. They took an empty plot of land and lovingly created a paradise on earth. Thank you for your hospitality!

Balinese Villa stay
This was a fantastic stay, beautiful balinese villa, decor was fantastic breakfast was fantastic, Anna and her husband were fantastic guests, very close to the beach only short drive to Port Douglas can't recommend this property enough, we loved our stay here.
