Welcome to our beach front home, please imagine your ensuing adventure in paradise. Enter into your special gateway to relaxing in lavish and comfortable surroundings. We offer you a chance to unwind, take in our stunning morning sunrises with your morning brew. Or enjoy the changing ocean view caused by the high and low tides, with your best friend. If it’s natures’ life you seek, spy the Eagles glide in effortless bliss, view the porpoises breaching gracefully toward the deep blue sea, or spot deer passing through our back yard. If you happen to be there in late September or early October, you can wade into the Bay and try your hand at fishing for Pink Salmon. If you relish meandering along the seashore, we have infinite tide pools to explore with abundant sea life all around you.
Located 9 minutes away from Nanaimo City and 6 minutes from Departure Bay Ferry terminal. This fabulous 3 bedroom house overlooks the Bay. All rooms have a waterfront view, even the garage! This four level, 3700 square foot house has an open concept living, dining room, and an Italian inspired modern kitchen with 5 burner gas stove, on the main floor. Conveniently outside the kitchen and dining room, there is a large patio with an outdoor BBQ, where you can enjoy your meals or just enjoy the view. Set apart from the rest of the house, an elegant, private, master bedroom, with a king size bed, a full ensuite, and a special bath tub/jacuzzi, with a breathtaking view. On the lower level are two bedrooms with queen sized beds, 2 bathrooms, a TV room with a double sofa bed, and for the kids, an interior play room with a TV for video games, and a cabinet queen sized bed. A special billiard and TV room with ensuite can be found as a place of refuge or party room, on the last level. This house can sleep 10 people. Pets are not permitted in the house.

The elegant house is just a short walk from restaurants, tennis courts, a children’s water park and playground. Grocery shopping is a 3 minute drive and the Shopping Centres are all within a 20 minute drive.

A Great Getaway
Our two families had a wonderful 4-night stay here. There was room for everyone to spread out. Its waterfront location was really special-watching the ferries coming and going was very entertaining. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Wonderful stay.
Beautiful property right on a sheltered bay, perfect for our whole family. My only concern was that the hidden driveway made it dangerous as the traffic goes by the corner very fast and visibility is almost till.

A Family Vacation Dream
This beautiful upscale home was ideal for our large family. The gracious hosts provided a very well stocked kitchen and plenty of linens for the six beds and five bathrooms we occupied. The view from the balconies overlooking the bay was incredible and the direct access to the beach was great, especially for the kids. The spacious kitchen and dining area and living room accommodated our large group very comfortably. The location of the driveway is a bit awkward and care must be taken when exiting. We highly recommend this property for a family group looking for the ideal place from which to easily explore the many sights in and around Nanaimo and beyond.

A perfect idyll
We were a family of 8 and found this property to be the perfect size. Plenty of space to stretch out, a small lawn area and of course right on the waterfront. Easy to launch our kayak and SUP. Very clean and very comfortable. It was also the perfect location in North Nanaimo from which to explore the parks in the area. We would have gladly stayed longer!

Everyone should stay at this home at least once. The views from all the decks out to the water is so beautiful and relaxing. The home is clean large enough for a large family. We loved it and will be back

Great place for large family
Our family of 7 adults loved our stay in this beautiful beach-side home. The large and extremely well-stocked kitchen family room, multi-level deck and dining table served us very well. We wanted a “hang” vacation and that’s what we did. We watched herons, otters, and the tide. We love a large house as we like space. Very delightful. Ample room for many generations, and ample bathrooms. A great home for staying in. Wonderful communication with owners. A big win. Mom’s fave was deep bath with bay view.

Wonderful house on the water
We booked the house to stay in to attend a family reunion in Nanaimo. The house was spacious, well appointed and beautiful and the setting could not be better. We thoroughly enjoyed the decks overlooking Departure Bay and the easy access to the beach. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Our favorite VRBO to date!
We loved our stay at this house!! It is literally on the beach! Walk out one of the back patio doors, walk down the stairs and lawn, and you're in the shore! So fun to watch the ferries and float planes come and go. The kitchen with it's large island, was well stocked. The house was sparkling clean, and it was a very comfortable house to relax in. The hosts were attentive and friendly. We will absolutely stay here again next time we're in Nanaimo!

Fantastic Views, Great Family Rental
We have stayed in this house several times in the past and keep coming back for a reason. The house is right on the beach with great views of Departure Bay. We watched the ferries come and go and the birds and otters play in the water right in front of the house. The house itself is spacious and the pool table is always a hit with our kids. We will be back.

A relaxing holiday in Nanaimo!
Very spacious and lovely accommodation. It gave members of our party the room for privacy as well as time together. The view was fabulous. Having a 7-11 close by was a real plus for the 6 year old. The driveway is a problem as is the noise from the traffic going up the hill. But overall we had a lovely getaway.

Underrated Property
Scott was very accommodating allowing us two large families to stay. The pictures don't do this place justice. It's very spacious. The fully stocked kitchen reduces the need for packing extras. It was exceptionally clean. The view in the morning - beautiful. I agree with others that the driveway was tight, but you got used to it after a while. Overall great memories made here - would love to visit again.

Gorgeous Views
After a long 16 months of no traveling and being from a large city, we wanted to find a place that was right on the ocean. Scott’s place delivered and more! The view of Departure Bay from all rooms is truly incredible. Our kids absolutely loved exploring the beach at low tide each day. It was particularly amazing to see a deer (the same one!) almost every day. The house is large and easily slept our family of 7 (including 2 grandparents and 3 kids). It contained everything we needed. Some reviews commented on the street noise. We did not find it bothersome, however, we are quite used to loud city noises. Thank you, Scott, for a very memorable week in BC. We are missing it already and can’t wait to return.

Beautiful Beach House
This was a great house for our annual family vacation. The access to the beach was fantastic for our kids. We also really enjoyed the A/C on hot days. Great location for day trips, bonus it is a short walk to the coffee/gelato shop. About the only downside was the road noise, especially from motorbikes. However, when you are in the house, you hardly hear it. It also took us a while to also figure out where the 4th bedroom was, as we didn't realize it wasn't accessible through the house.

We were impressed with the property listing, but when we arrived at the property we were blown away. For a huge house, everything is clean and tidy. Absolutely stunning property in a great location. Scott and Patricia are extremely accommodating hosts. FIVE STARS, would recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing stay.

Breathtaking views
We had a wonderful family stay with young kids up to grandparents. Having multiple sitting areas gave us our own space when needed but the main living area was so large that we were also able to easily all sit together as a group of 9. The description of the property needs updating with the new layout as there were more sleeping options than it seemed, which worked out much better for us! Also more photos (especially to highlight just how great the view is from the living room, and the access to the beach) A downside is the street is very noisy at night with cars revving up the hill which made made bedtime for our 2 year old a little challenging... And the driveway is hidden and difficult to get in and out but overall we had a great time!

Our stay at Departure Bay was great. Looking out across the bay, watching the ferries and the tide go in and out is very relaxing. Lots of room inside, kitchen is well stocked. Golfing and shopping were close. Very safe, comfortable location. We would certainly stay there again!

Spectacular view! Great Location! Lovely property
Spent an entire month at this property and enjoyed every single moment of the views. Seeing Seals and Otters and even a small whale was such a treat! Everything that we needed was available.... we did purchase binoculars because we wanted to see some of the wild life up close. Might be a good asset to have a pair there. Views pretty well from every single window in the house... even the garage. Great Location close to everything we needed for our month. We loved the house and location so much! I hope we can come back sometime again with our grandchildren! this would be such a fun place for them to explore the beach right in the back yard.

In a word: WONDERFUL!
Other than a bit of traffic noise and a driveway angle issue (as stated in other reviews), our stay was wonderful. The huge beach was our back yard! We bought a license in town for $8 to collect oysters right off the beach which we then barbecued! We watched seals swim right up to our back yard and dear walk through almost every day! Markets and shops were a very close driving distance. The house was luxurious and very comfortable. I highly recommend. It's not totally secluded as there are neighbors and other beach goers, but for us this was not an issue. Thank you for a lovely time to catch up with our family in such a nice setting!
