About this property

Fairlight Cottage country retreat

Fairlight Cottage is set in the homestead garden of a 65 acre property, overlooking the Clarence River, the Valley and the Great Dividing Range.
Set halfway between the beaches and the mountains, the cottage is 20 mins from the highway and the city.
You have your own 2 bedroom residence that was built for guests. It is fully stocked and all that is missing is You.
NOTE: New: From June 1st, 2017, there is a minimum 2 night stay.

The Continental breakfast provided is generous because you cannot walk down to a coffee shop...Instead you can stay cosy in the kitchen, or walk over to the Forster Room and relax in a spacious outdoor lounge and dining area.

The mature garden is host to may different birds and native animals. To protect these, the property is not pet friendly.
Your hosts believe in genuine old -fashioned country hospitality and the guests appreciate it, like Kathy from WA-
"Pamela was so welcoming and generous we felt instantly at home when arriving at Fairlight. We booked in at very short notice but we were accommodated with no trouble and the place was spotless when we got there.
The cottage is lovely and the property so quiet and peaceful with beautiful views down to the river.
We would definitely stay here again."

A different experience
For the same price as staying in a motel/hotel or caravan cabin you could enjoy a little "country experience". The quietness and serenity at this property is noteworthy. In fact we did not even go back into the town because we wanted to spend our precious time at this beautifully built cabin. The volume of breakfast supplied was very generous. Highly recommended and dealing with Pam, the owner was a pleasure.

Absolute delight
This isn't a cabin or unit, it's a small house, with all the facilities. Hosted by Pamela, a most beautiful soul, Fairlight is a great destination for those seeking peace, rest, stunning views, and the warmest country hospitality.

Lovely, quiet spot just outside of Grafton
Pamela is a lovely host and her cottage had everything we needed for a long weekend stay. The breakfast provisions were very generous. Nearby countryside was very pretty and location was in easy reach of Grafton.

Seelands is a beautiful place to relax and explore near by areas. The cottage was well stocked and very comfortable to stay in with views over the Clarence River. The host was remarkable making us feel right at home with her hospitality. I highly recommend staying at Seelands, we will be back!

Beautiful cosy cottage
The whole property is absolutely perfect. It has amazing views, over the paddocks and the river. The cottage and gardens are lovely and comfortable. But the best part is our wonderful hostess, who could not be more thoughtful and accommodating. Thank you Pamela

Best place to stay on the NSW North coast - by far!
Just finished a lovely 4 night stay with Pamela at the fairlight cottage. By far the best place to stay on the north coast - you would be crazy not to stay here. Pamela’s hospitality is second to none and she always had great suggestions on how we should spend our time in the region. Ideally located between the national parks and the coast this is an great spot for a holiday and with spectacular sunsets every night it’s the perfect spot to relax. Pamela also maintains a gorgeous garden full of wildlife including echidnas, frogs and countless birds. We look forward to returning one day soon.

Country Getaway
If a rustic country getaway is what you are after then this cottage won’t disappoint! Sweeping views of the Clarence River from a screened in summer room was the ideal spot for afternoon drinks. Spotted the resident koala, a beautiful green frog and heard plenty more from the frog pond. The cosy cottage is ideal for a family of 4 or a couple looking to get away from it all. The host is lovely and the check in easy. Allow 20mins in to Grafton, recommend Ulmarra Pub on the Clarence for lunch. 😊

Very Quiet Getaway
If you want a quiet place to getaway from it all this is the place. Only the birds, and there are plenty of them, to keep you company. The accommodation is a small house close to host Pamela's main residence. It's a little dark inside, with wood paneling, more like a chalet. Outside however are sweeping views of the Clarence River and no neighbours withing hundreds of metres, just kangaroos and birds. It's about half an hour from Grafton and the last few kilometres are unsealed dirt roads, so no traffic to interrupt the peace and quiet.

Great relaxing family holiday
So peaceful and relaxing - my children especially enjoyed the freedom of wandering around the property every morning looking for turtles whilst parents could sleep in!! A real escape from the sounds of suburbia.

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful setting!
Fairlight Cottage was a little delight in a beautiful setting overlooking a gorgeous river. Pamela, our host was attentive and keeps this cottage in perfect condition. There is a large undercover area overlooking the beautiful river where you can sit and enjoy a drink in the afternoon and the cottage has everything you could possibly need with full cooking and laundry facilities. Furthermore, the continental breakfast provided was plentiful. A lovely place to spend a long weekend.

Wonderful stay!
Our two nights at Fairlight Cottage were marvellous; the cottage itself was charming, with a well-appointed kitchen that allowed us to cook and make ourselves thoroughly at home. The setting was beautiful, from the surrounding fields and trees, to the river at the bottom of the property, all of which we enjoyed while strolling around and from the summer house overlooking the river. The place was full of fascinating birds and plants, even in what was the Australian winter. Our host Pamela made us feel immediately at home -- you couldn't ask for a more friendly or welcoming host. She was also a terrific font of information, and provided really spot-on suggestions that resulted in a very enjoyable day outing to a neighbouring town with an excellent bookshop and river-side pub. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a charming escape to the Australian countryside.

A dreamy place like in novels
Fairlight cottage is like a place often described in novels... tucked away in the country, sitting on the top of a hill with beautiful uninterrupted views of distant mountains on one side and a calm blue river running in the valley. During the day the calm is occasionally disturbed by bird songs or by cattle mooing in the distance, and in the night by the "tchop tchap" sounds made by the frogs in Pamela's frog pond. There is a big, covered and netted shelter from within which one can take in these scenic views without being bothered by mossies and bugs. The rustic cottage itself is very neatly presented with some great antique furniture, and is clean, cozy and warm. Although it has all of the appliances needed to prepare a quick meal, we had picked up some take-away closest town of Grafton. The fridge was laden with breakfast foods and basket with a few fruits, all of which was more than enough for 3 of us. Pamela the owner is also a nice and warm lady, with a lot of experience and information to share. While just a tad on the pricier side, it’s still worth driving all the way here for what it has to offer. If I get a chance, I would certainly come back here for a couple of nights to get away from the hustle-bustle of our daily routine.

Host was exceptional
This property was exceptional and I would encourage anyone who is looking for a retreat away to come here. The only downfall was how the property retained heat. The tin roof, no insulation and air con made it super hot in summer.

A very special retreat
Pam was an amazing host. We felt instantly at home and were sorry to only be staying one night. We loved the "Africa" connection in Pam's special outdoor living area with spectacular views over the Clarence River. This will definitely be the first of many visits to this special sanctuary.

The best place to stay in Grafton!
We really enjoyed our stay at Fairlight Cottage. Pamela's hospitality and service with a smile just made the stay even more welcoming. The cottage is a sweet cottage with so much history and Pamela's knowledge of the area made it so much more interesting. Pamela's property is so beautiful with so much wildlife!! We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to visit you again.

Peaceful and relaxing
Tucked into a quiet corner along the Clarence River, Fairlight Cottage offers cosy, comfortable, country-style accommodation. Our lovely hostess ensured that we had everything we needed for our overnight stay, including a tasty breakfast. We loved the country charm, and appreciated the good heating and comfortable bed, but the highlight for us was drinking in the stunning views and sunset over the river and then the chorus of frogsong from the cheerful little critters in the frog pond - and then we woke to the chorus of birdsong the next morning. A most enjoyable stay.
