Room rate for two guests includes a deliciously filling continental breakfast every day. To welcome you, there is also a complimentary fruit bowl and biscuit barrel topped up each day. Bed configuration can be either double or twin for up to 4 people. Extra guests per night: $75 per adult, $30 per child under twelve.

For a cooked breakfast, Lunch or evening meal, cooking facilities are available from the main house living area, with bbq and fire pit adjacent to the guest suite, and so you just need to bring the ingredients, with cooking oil, herbs and spices supplied.

Wifi available, although this is limited and data speeds throughout this valley are slow (no NBN to off-grid properties) with mobile modem, which you can top up if required at your own cost beyond initial free allocation. Single guest discount and 10% discount for longer stays.

Sorry, pets not allowed as we are on the boundary of a national conservation park and wild life is free to wander around the property.

INVESTIGATE LOCALLY...
Wander through the ruins of 19th gold and silver mining projects at Scott Creek and Echunga and tramp rocky ridges and winding rural valleys.

Plan a game of golf at Blackwood, Echunga, Stirling or Mt Lofty or horse riding in the local forests. Ride a bike along the hills bike trails. Go hiking across the hills and valleys.

Eat out in historic Hahndorf, rustic Aldgate or Mylor, or gorgeous Stirling with so many delicious eateries.

Time your visit to coincide with international events such as Tour Down Under, Clipsal 500, Australian International Three Day Equestrian Event, Adelaide Festival of Arts and Womad -- all are within easy reach. Wine and food festivals abound in this region.

Ask about local cafes that offer gourmet picnics for bushwalking or local sightseeing, touring maps and expert advice about the local region.

Public transport to the city and other destinations departs from Stirling (bus) and Blackwood(train), only 15 minutes away. Transport to airport, city or local events, and drop-off and pickup can be arranged at negotiated cost for bushwalking, dining and winery tours.

Relaxing hideaway
CloudsNest and the property it’s on is absolutely stunning. Sitting back, watching the kangaroos graze on the lawn as the sun set, was our favourite part of the evening. We enjoyed the options of a fireplace both inside and out. Jean was a wonderful host who gave us plenty of privacy but was also ready to assist if needed. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous property Jean. We’ll be back.

Beyond Expectations
Upon arriving at the property, we were both taken aback by the sheer beauty of the view from the house. Overlooking a valley there are views all around and plenty of wildlife, kangaroos and bird life, to watch. The welcoming platter was amazing and the continental breakfast was much more than we were expecting. Overall this was a place we didn't want to leave and want to return to as soon as possible.

Unbelievable
Clouds Nest was exactly as the name suggests - a comfortable nest amongst the clouds. High up on a beautiful hillside with kangaroos that welcomed our arrival, this absolutely stunning and amazing property is only made better by it’s fabulous and interesting host Jean, who delighted us with her hospitality and attention to detail. Jean resides in another wing of Clouds Nest and is a very discreet host! There when you need her but not intrusive in any way. She assisted us when our fire got low and welcomed us with a delicious platter when we arrived. Beds were incredibly comfortable and the peace and serenity is unmatched. This property has everything you could ask for and has been treated with so much love and care. So we’ll thought out ~ there is nothing missed and it is a perfect get away when staying in the Adelaide Hills. Thank you again Jean ~ we loved meeting you and hearing about your inspirational work you do and how much love and attention you have put into Clouds Nest. We will definitely return:) Kylie W & Michele C

Cozy getaway
Jean made us feel very welcome, and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The firepit and combustion fire made it toasty in the middle of winter. The breakfast was wonderful, and we were spoilt for choice. The grounds are great for strolling around, and the views are just amazing. We would stay again.

Perfect B&B
Jean was the perfect host; daily breakfast was substantial - a great start to the day; fireplace set for each day was a wonderful way to return each afternoon; rooms were cleaned and everything available and working; accessibility to use laundry facilities was appreciated; and her knowledge of where to visit and eat in the area was accurate and useful. A perfect B&B in an idealistic setting!

A wonderful retreat
What a beautiful spot. Jean is an attentive but discrete host. The outlook is stunning - to sit on the verandah and watch the sun set over the valley, and equally the sunrise the next morning. The accommodation was everything we would have hoped. So peaceful and away from everything, and yet not that far from Stirling. Highly recommended.

About the host

Hosted by Jean Clayton

Host profile image
I’m semi retired, a linguist by profession, with strong interests in ecology, land restoration and sustainable architecture who found the dream location and built a home I love with help from some experts in sustainability. I love living off the grid and have been able to prove that you don’t have to be rustic or basic in your lifestyle for this to be successful.

Why they chose this property

If you just stand on the front deck and look out over the valley and the wide skies you will immediately understand why I bought this rural property without a second thought about where else I could live. A beautiful home with all services was developed over two years on a pristine rocky hillside —CloudsNest seemed a perfect name for what living here is like.

What makes this property unique

Tranquillity and fresh air, kangaroos and wild ducks and native flora attracting butterflies and birdlife around the home make this a very special place.
