A view to die for
The view is absolutely incredible and the private pool is, by far, the biggest we've ever encountered in many, many homestays. The house is exactly like the photos (a bit rustic with a very small kitchen area) but you are only going to be sleeping there - the pool area and the view are what you are paying for. The local village (5 min drive) has a supermarket, pizzeria and bar and Lu Bagnu and CastelSardo are both only 20mins away and are full of restaurants, bars etc. The pool was a bit grubby when we arrived and it took two days to get the wifi working but, to be fair, we only booked 24hours ahead so little time to prepare. Antonio visited regularly and, while the pool will never be the bright blue it once was, it was quickly up to standard. Did I mention that view !!!

Wonderful holiday. Amazing host.
We had the most amazing holiday. The villa was in an absolutely idyllic area, 10 mins drive to Lu Bagnu which had crystal clear waters and a beach bar. Michele was on hand to provide advice and help whenever we needed it. The pool was fantastic and the bed was very comfortable. Will definitely come back one day with the children :)

Very poor equipped villa, great view.
The villa is very poor equipped and certainly not a romantic place to stay. Anyway the view is stunning and the pool is very nice. There is a lack of usual household. A lot of things are not functioning well. There is no regular WIFI. Price/quality is not in balance. The villa is far to expensive.

vue exceptionnelle

Stunning views - attentive hosts
We were looking for somewhere which would be easy for us to stay with our 7 month old baby and Villa Roberta was perfect - we had a very relaxing week. Due to problems with our hire car we arrived 2 hours later than planned, but Antonio and Leny kindly waited for us in Tergu and were very accommodating despite the late hour (10pm). They also responded very quickly when we had queries about the gas and wifi the next day - both minor issues were resolved within an hour. We had asked in advance for a cot and high chair, both were ready and waiting when we arrived. The villa was clean and the pool was in very good condition - a man came to clean the latter every day which was helpful. It has a couple of random decorative touches (including a fish tank!), but everything we needed was there, easy to use and worked (the air conditioning and wifi in particular were both very good). The view is as beautiful as shown in the photos, pretty much as good as you can hope for from a villa like this. The outside seating was nice and comfy which allowed us to enjoy the view all day and evening. It was very quiet, partly as the other villas were empty, but also because it is situated away from the nearest main road. Although Tergu is closest we used Lu Bagnu as our local town, it's just under a 10 minute drive door to door. It's not a pretty town but it has a couple of nice restaurants, small supermarkets and access to a small section of beach. Castelsardo is nicer but another 5-10 minutes drive (depending on how far up the hill you want to park). There were a lot of ants around outside the property (never inside), but that's the trade off for being in such a rural location. They didn't bother our baby at all which was all we cared about. We very rarely stay in the same place twice, so the best compliment I can pay Villa Roberta is that we would seriously consider booking again. As earlier reviews said though, it would actually be quite nice if this remained our little secret!

But we want it to remain our secret!!!
Villa Roberta is one of three villas that the owner, an inspired local developer called Michele Posadinu, constructed on a hilltop overlooking Castelsardo and Lu Bagnu, in northern Sardinia. This little group was named "Villagio Bellavista" for obvious reasons. Roberta is a well-equipped and well-maintained two-bedroom villa enjoying a direct view over its own kidney-shaped 15m pool, the shared tennis court and then the 12th century Castelsardo on the sea 5km away. The drive from sea to villa is about 7 minutes unless you think you're Ayrton Senna. For the last few years, Villa Roberta has been used as a reception for the other two villas in the little village. This explains the lack of historical reviews which we found a little odd before coming here. We flew into Olbia, collected a hire car and drove to the sea-side town of Lu Bagnu, 2km west of Castelsardo, where we met Michele outside the recently re-named Hotel Mintz. The drive is quickest via Sassari, with a good highway running straight across the north of the island. The drive took probably 2 hours plus time to get some provisions. The airport at Alghero is close to Sassari but we found the best flights were to Olbia with easyJet. The reason Michele meets you in town is because the last 2km of the journey is along a steep private road off the highway to Tergu and, frankly, you'd never find it unless you were shown it. We were also a bit perplexed at why google's satellite images of this part of Sardinia are so old that they don't show the villas. You can triangulate where Roberts is, roughly, from the photos, but you do need to be shown how to get here and in the end this just adds to making the place feel secret and even more special. Michele is very concerned with making sure you have everything you need, and he is on hand in Lu Bagnu to resolve any issues immediately. We found the place spotlessly clean, and his extra touches like local cheeses help you melt into the Sardinian scene. The villa is just how it appears on the website and the views are just breathtaking. Up here you feel very privileged to have the space and the quiet, and the lack of biting insects, just a short drive from the beach. This villa is a gem. It's not on the Costa Smeralda, and it's not on the sea, but it has it's own lovely pool plus there's the tennis, and all the space and light and air, overlooking the coast and (as we saw today) a view all the way to Corsica. This is a special place.

Like paradise!
Still as good as earlier reviews rate it! For those who like tranquility, unspoilt countryside and nature. On the day of arrival we were greeted by the host in Lu Bagnu and escorted to the property. I you don't know where it is it will be most tricky to find! Google maps shows only greenery at the location; suppose their satellite photo's are too old. We found the description of the accommodation accurate. The house is well kept and there two really nice pools (a second smaller pool has been added this year) and a superb tennis court. We stayed comfortably and spaciously with our 3 children. We brought an airmatress along and there was room enough in second bedroom for our third child to sleep there. There also a sleeping couch in the living room but we haven't used it for that purpose. A small minus is perhaps that WiFi internet access is not available (due to the remote location) so 3G access o.a. will be required if you need to be online. The owner is friendly and helpful (quote: "if you're satisfied, I am satisfied"). Our compliment for the cleanliness. We couldn't find dust inside anywhere (e.g. under the beds) and noticed that the windows were being washed just before other guests arrived at the property. The view is spectacular and a pair of binoculars might come in handy to appreciate it even more. There are ample opportunities for hiking / walking departing right from the doorstep. You have a chance of encountering a wild boar or other forms of wild life as we did.

A wonderful place
The "viallgio" is a wonderful quiet place far away from the next house. There is a great view from the large pool to the sea, to Castelsardo and Lu Banju and to the beautiful landscape far around. The images can not show this great impression. The 3 rental houses are new and well equipped, designed by the owner himself. The 4 th house at the pool is kind of a reception. You have to drive about 2 km of a steep dust road to get there, but its only about 10 minutes to drive to Lu Baju and the sea. The villagio is on top of a hill. Its some degrees cooler there than at the beach, which is very relaxing, but the houses have air con as well - if needed. There were only very few flies and no wasps. Phone and UMTS reception was quite good. Michele is very kind - although he speaks little english we had no problems. We also can recommend the place for children (but the pool is very deep at one end). We enjoyed our stay very much and can strongly recommend the place.

Good choice
We spent 10 days on this property and we had a very pleasant stay. The place is on the top of a hill with a great view of Castelsardo and the sea. Is a very peaceful and calm place surronded by the nature. You can reach Tergu in five minutes and the closest beach (Lu Bagnu) in about 10-15 min. The house was in good conditions as well as the facilities: pool, etc. Michele, the owner, is a nice guy and very helpful. He's very concerned about his guests. I highly recommend this property. CD.

Wonderful view, great pool, quiet, relaxing place
Everything was amazing. Michele, the owner, is extremely helpful and nice. The place is on top of an hill with a wonderful view of the valley and the sea. The houses are nice, never hot (high ceilings) and clean. Being on a hill, it makes a lot of difference in terms of temperature. We never had to turn on the A/C. Basically there is not much humidity or sea haze, and in the evening the breeze cools down the afternoon heat. Another plus is that on the hills there are no mosquitos! The place is perfect for relaxing but also quite good as a base to visit northern Sardinia. A lot of beaches are just 10-15 minutes away, the all area is generally less developed and more authentic (and less expensive) than many other places in northern sardinia. Nearby beaches are never crowded, parking is not an issue and traffic is non-existent, at least in July. In any case, places like Stintino, Alghero or Santa Teresa are about 1 hour away. We did often eat in the house (or by the pool) since having the dishwasher was a plus, but also enjoyed some restaurants. Quality of food is generally very good and not too expensive. Head to Castelsardo for fish, or stay inland for typical porceddu and other Sardinian delicacies. If you really need some serious shopping Sassari is just 30 minutes away. If you like cheese ask Michele for aged pecorino (best I could find in Sardinia). We will definitively go back for another week when we visit Sardinia again.
