Perfect place for a relaxing break
Had a great 3 days with family, late afternoon walks across road to beach, great base for exploring the region. All beds were comfortable, kitchen was very well appointed, plenty of room to move around. Will be back for certain.

Old fashioned beach shack holiday
What Dunsborough was like 30 years ago but with a few of the mod-cons. Great enclosed patio area. A short walk across the road to a nice spot in the bay. Great family holiday.

We really liked the privacy of the property, and the easy walking access to the beach. This would be an ideal property for a family, as there is a large screened outdoor area, and lots of lawn for kids to play on. Unfortunately, there were a few maintenance issues with the aircon remotes and the TV remote as all but one of their batteries were flat. We were able to turn each aircon on with the one remote, but the aircon in the lounge/kitchen ended up making a continual noise and became warm. Full credit to the owner, who organised a repairman to attend that afternoon, but he couldn't fix it, so we had to use the aircon in the room at the end of the passage to send cool air to the lounge and kitchen. This all would have been fine normally, but it was a hot weekend, and we were looking to have a relaxing time in the accommodation, and could only be comfortable in the bedroom. Overall, without the maintenance issues, which were badly timed during a hot weather period, we would recommend this property.

Relaxing outlook
Property had not been cleaned when we arrived but a phone call to the owner and this was corrected swiftly and owner very helpful, great save. PROPER COFFEE MACHINE (OMG) with complimentary bag of coffee (great touch). WIFI is mobile WIFI so metered and not conducive to Netflix but had a small selection of games and DVD’s which helped alleviate this. All in all nice little house, great owner, you will enjoy your stay here. Thank you Dave.

Great getaway close to Busselton and Dunsborough
This was a great property to stay in between Busselton and Dunsborough . Only a 5 minute walk to geographe beach which was beautiful . The house sleeps 6/8 easily and the beds comfortable. The owner David was great and answered any queries we had and any issues were sorted swiftly as the neighbours are family members . All in all a great place to stay

Shame we couldn't stay.
Unfortunately due to Covid19 our booking was cancelled for this property. David however was professional in his booking and reservation information and communication and i would have no hesitation in booking his property in the future!

Peaceful
Thank you for our stay. The grounds were so peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed watching the birds and kangaroos. The house was perfect for our family and I loved the kitchen! We ate on the veranda everyday. The beach across the road was calm and clean. I would have liked a sweeping brush to tidy the house. You thought of everything we would need in the kitchen and it was great to have a coffee machine. None of us wanted to come home. 🙂

Great stay!!!
We enjoyed our stay here. It's a great location and very close to the beach. Kitchen was very well equipped and the house itself well maintained. Plenty of space for children to run around. Dave has been very friendly and quick to answer to any enquire The only downside is that one of the queen bedrooms is located outside the main house and the access to the toilet is through the verandah. Anyway we'll reccomend this property for a relaxing family gateway!!!

Everything you need for a family break
A very homely and comfortable property with plenty to keep kids entertained. The house had all the mod cons and comforts we needed for a very rainy first couple of days. Once the sun came out the location was ideal for exploring the region or just going to the beach over the road. The only disappointment was the rubbish dumped in the wetland at the back of the property that spoiled the natural beauty somewhat (but not visible from the house). Still, great value and would certainly recommend this property for a winter getaway.

About the host

Hosted by David Rees

Host profile image
Hello. Friends call me Dave. I'm married (Margaret) and I'm retired. In a past life I was an engineer. I like to think I'm easy going, obliging and enjoy peoples' company. I prefer to be active whether work or play. I enjoy building renovating projects, golf, spear fishing, fishing and traveling. Other than dealing with government agencies, and a poor showing at golf , I don't have any notable dislikes.

Why they chose this property

The location is central and easily commutable to all fun places in the South West district. It is a spacious rural parkland property that is very close to a safe swimming beach, and is halfway between the tourist towns of Busselton and Dunsborough. In addition, it is a gateway to the surfing beaches and the famous Margaret River wine district and all of its attractions. There is so much to do and enjoy.

What makes this property unique

Geographe Gateway is unique! It is both a rural setting and close to an iconic beach. It is just 200m from the water, and borders the Broadwater wetlands. It is secluded and private with plenty of parking. You can park your boat, kick a footy or enjoy a game of cricket. Children can entertain themselves giving parents some space.
The house has free, unlimited, high speed NBN connection for guest use. The town water is filtered. There are many fruit trees and guests are welcome to consume whilst there what is available at the time.
Cars and boats can be washed, though it would be appreciated to not waste water.
