Farmers by occupation, the Metzger family built this little home in town in 1898 to use on the weekends for shopping and attending church and it has been kept in the family ever since. Located just one block south of Main Street in the Historic District, guests will delight in seeing the Metzger Sunday House along with two other original Sunday Houses all lined up in a row.
Typical of the old Sunday Houses, a small covered porch with swing and comfy chair greets you upon arrival. The main room serves double duty as a bedroom and sitting area. A queen-size bed is the focal point of the room. This magnificent bed has been handed down in the family and is topped with a colorful comforter and fluffy pillows. The antique velvet sofa and chair is comfortably arranged around the television.
The kitchen is fully equipped for your use and delightfully appointed with rich, bright colors. A table for four is in the center of this spacious kitchen. The bath has a tub and shower.
Located only a block from Main Street, this special home is easy walking to shopping and churches. In addition, photographers for major publications, such as Texas Highways, frequently use this picturesque home for magazine and newspaper articles and there is even a postcard that can be found locally of it. Furthermore, this home participated in the 150th Fredericksburg Anniversary Tour.

The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. Climate control good. The supplies were lacking. No dish soap, not enough coffee to make a small pot full, no wash cloths.
Reminded me of great grandma's house... I loved learning the history of this little house. The location was perfect, we walked to most placed we wanted to go. Thank you for a wonderful mini vacation.
The house was one block from the Main Street. Wonderful location. Quiet and cute neighborhood. The house could have been cleaner and the bed was very sloped with the bottom of the bed higher than our heads. We switched and slept with our heads at the foot of the bed.
This little home was exactly as advertised. Best of all, the entire downtown was within walking distance, so we parked our car at the house when we arrived and didn't move it until we left for home. The owners were efficient and business like.
House was cute, historical, close to Main Street. Kitchen was very sparsely furnished, very dirty sponge left for us on the sink, house is in desperate need of a good cleaning. Windows, base boards very “old” dusty, couch creases are layered in dust, grim rests, not what you would expect for a $200 a night😳rental😳not what

Sorry to say, “Not clean.” “Blinds in living room up and broken.”
Didn't seem to be a resident handle by your company.”
We learned what a "sunday house" is. The location is wonderful. There are a lot of things within walking distance.

Metzger Sunday House stay
We really loved our stay at the Metzger Sunday house. The house was well kept, clean and handy to everything in town. Fredericksburg is such a nice place to visit. We were impressed with the process and plan to use this place again.
Great locations . Little out dated, but I loved it. Reminded me of my grandmothers home .

Loved It!
The house was very nice and quaint. You folks always do a good job having the house ready and you did not disappoint. Great location, nice wide street, and far enough off the main street that it was quiet.
One quick note: let the cleaning crew know NOT to use pledge on the kitchen table. Old English will take the sticky film off that is on there now. :)

Good location; but dirty and run down.
It was hard to find an overnight stay in a good location but I should have opted for a hotel instead. This little place needs updating, a good cleaning, and organizing. The water in the shower didn't get as hot as it should either.

Our stay at Metzger house
Metzger house was clean and felt like we were a guest in someone's home. Greeted by a lovely Christmas tree in the kitchen felt great! Also greatly appreciated the antique furniture that created a wonderful ambience for our visit. We would stay there again!
We enjoyed the history and the location. It was a cold night so we could have used another blanket. I just an not into sleeping in an overheated room.
I wish the owners would put a little of TLC into this old place, but the way it is makes it more affordable.
Oh, there was a coffee maker and decaf coffee in the fridge, but no filters. It is within walking distance from plenty of cafes and coffee shops.
We loved the property. The bed was super comfortable so they must have replaced it after some of the negative reviews. The only downside is the toilet is super slow to refill and runs most of the night.
It was exactly what we needed for a place to stay in Fredericksburg.
The location was perfect for walking to shop & eat on Main St. Reading the history on the house was very interesting. It is an older house, but the only issue we had was the toilet not properly flushing, so running. Noticed furniture could use a good dusting. Coffee pot not working right, it took 25 mins to brew 4 cups. Just minor issues. Overall we had a lovely stay.
