Everything you could possibly want
Ship House was comfortable, roomy, perfectly located and well stocked with all the utensils and features one could want in a short stay. Maggie was kind a communicated well, bath towels and linen were also supplied, and the house itself featured ample parking and a great backyard for summer activities. I'd gladly come and stay again.

Neat with plenty of room to play
Great place with plenty of space. A little tough to get to the shops due to the uphill/downhill but good location overall. Would definitely recommend for large families.

Great location, could do with an update
Stayed for a week over Christmas visiting family. House is in a great location - 10 mins walk to the beach, 20 mins to centre of town and lots of shops, restaurants and bars. The outside space is great, lovely garden and outdoor eating area too. Small barbeque which was useful. The house itself internally is quite dated and tired, although well equipped, kitchen especially. Our main difficulty was with WiFi, which is listed in the details. It’s was not there, and when I enquired there was only a 4g booster available. The signal was not strong enough for any work calls, could not download or stream anything. As a result smart TV also listed, kept freezing. I’d say moderately comfortable overall. Could really do with a refresh of bedding and furniture. Maggie was very responsive and prompt with communication.

Spacious house with lovely garden
The house was spacious and the gardens are lovely. The 2 double beds were comfortable , and it was good to have 2 bathrooms. We were disappointed in the lack of items in the house. Most places we stay have basics like soaps, hand towels, and basic kitchen essentials like salt/pepper/plastic wrap/ oil. The house is really hot upstairs and while there are air cons in the 3 bedrooms, it seemed wasteful to have to use them when the temperature was only mid twenties. There were no windows to open in the 1st bedroom , and leaving the door open allowed a lovely breeze but there was no wire screen (or security screen )and it let in insects and cockroaches.

A great break in Mornington
The Ship House is a delightful property close by all the amenities that Mornington has to offer. Maggie is a very attentive host - even welcoming us to hand over the keys. We had plenty of space indoors and the back garden with the pear tree and birds was very relaxing. The weather was spectacularly warm so the aircon was a godsend!!

We were 3 young families with toddlers and house was perfect for a weekend getaway! Thanks Maggie
The backyard is GINORMOUS and playground set perfect for our toddlers (or kids aged 2-7). There are 2 spacious indoor living areas, an outdoor dining area with BBQ and well equipped kitchen/ laundry. Owner was very communicative and hospitable before and during our stay, even allowing a very late checkout on our last day. Plenty of kids books and good DVD collection. Sitting by the fireplace was lovely. Location is great with beaches and main township super close. Would only recommend providing a portacot and high chair and some small bowls (all crockery is large adult sized porcelain)

About the host

Hosted by Maggie

Host profile image
Hi I'm Maggie. I'm a semi-retired language teacher and have been hosting for several years a wide array of interesting guests from all over the world. Guests love staying at the Ship House because it's a spacious yet cosy retreat for families and groups of friends to entertain and relax in.

Why they chose this property

Our house is in a natural setting surrounded by trees and birdlife within walking distance to the Mornington golf course where you can enjoy walks along the coastal cliff with breath-taking views of the sea. The local "Mills Beach" is just a five minute walk away and suitable for families and groups of friends for swimming, paddle boarding and walks along the shore leading to the Mornington pier for a morning coffee.

What makes this property unique

I think our house is special for its beautiful, relaxed environment. It is also very spacious and comfortable with a wide range of amenities for entertaining and relaxing, including books, DVDs, board games and outdoor activities. If you like "cosy", our home is full of vintage charm and character in the style of older Mornington homes.
