Rare and unique, Cranky Rock cottage gets the name from a 25 tonne cave sandstone rock which graces our cottage with an open fireplace. Peaceful and private Cranky Rock oozes warmth and charm.

Built pioneer style with rustic Australian hardwoods, a quaint and romantic getaway in your couples only retreat.

Set at the base of the mountains overlooking a beautiful valley floor, watch our horses, cattle and local wallabies graze peacefully enjoying this rare jewel.

Conveniently located from Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast, all the lower Hunter wineries and an easy 5 min drive to Wollombi. Handy for the music lovers for Pokolbin concerts, or just take in the historical Wollombi sandstone village, Home of the famous Dr Jurds Jungle Juice.

Awaken to the natural bush sounds of lyre birds around our 120 acres of natural bush and rainforest paradise, explore the wonderment of nature in your city escape, breath the fresh eucalyptus air. Experience the odd visit from our friendly King Parrots and native birdlife.

The living areas open out with bifold doors onto an open expansive timber sun drenched deck with outdoor BBQ shaded by eucalyptus trees over your large entertaining table and chairs.

Relax and revive after an enjoyable day, in the hot tub, while not just soaking in the warmth, but also the stars.

Ideal for 2 couples, a King size bedroom with fluffy donnas and comfy bed awaits your evening end with its own ensuite and along with another bedroom of a Queen size 4 poster cedar bed with own bathroom.

The country kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, fridge, basic condiments, tea, sugar, coffee are provided and our beautiful fresh free range eggs compliments from our farm hens.

Cranky Rock also has overhead fans and reverse cycle air conditioning, satellite tv, DVD, wifi, no mobile reception.

The property is very rustic and tranquil. A few minor issues with blown light bulbs and leaks with rain. My elderly mum found the steps hard. Also there were cobwebs and mice in the cabin which was uncomfortable for us . Overal was very pet friendly thankyoy

Beautiful Cottage in remote area
Pam and Lindsay were incredibly welcoming and there were a lot of lovely touches in the cottage that made it a unique stay. However, be aware that phone reception is poor there, so if you know you're arriving late at night, make sure to contact them beforehand as it is a bit of a tricky drive up to the cottage.

Great Pet Friendly Get Away
Cranky Rock Cottage is a rustic, quirky but well appointed abode. Lindsay and Pam are most affable and lovely hosts. We were provided with tasty breakfast supplies and Ollie, our Greyhound, was made very welcome, as were we. It was relaxing to indulge in the Spa and we enjoyed the company of the birdlife that visited the verandah. A choice of bedroom would have been nice as I would have loved to have made use of the bedroom appointed with the four poster bed but unfortunately that area had been locked off. We didn't realise we would actually be overlooking the camping area so there was some slight noise impact from there and there is no enclosed area to leave your dog if you wish to go out for the day without them. Overall a restful stay surrounded by beautiful bush. Thank you Pam and Lindsay.

A Favourite Place of Ours
This was our second stay and we loved every moment of it. The rains and rising creek played a little havoc with our original dates, but Pam and Lindsay were excellent in their communication and generous in offering us alternative dates. Lovely, generous hosts, beautiful, well appointed cottage, gorgeous fire, all so very serene and peaceful. Our little Boston, Cilla, also had a great time and we loved the walks on the property and meeting the friendly cows and bulls. This is a favourite place of ours and we will definitely be back for a third visit. Thank you so much to Pam and Lindsay!

Great secret natural getaway. Would recommend.
Really enjoyed our 3 night stay. It was great to stay in a homemade natural wooden cottage built around the large cranky rock. Nice view from the deck. It was great to just sit on the deck and watch and listen to the birds come and go. Many different varieties. The property also had horses, cattle and chickens. The fresh eggs were a real treat. We were there in summer and enjoyed it even though we had extremely hot weather as the air conditioning worked really well. It would also be great to stay during winter and experience the fire place. Also the hosts were really nice people which made the stay even that much more pleasurable. Mike and Ana.

The place was great, the cabin has been proudly handbuilt and very spacious. comfy bed, terrific fire place and good kitchen to cook what ever you want. There is plenty of room to relax and watch the birds that come and go and its close enough to the wineries to go and have a tipple. had a great couple of days.

Absolutely Stunning!
Cranky Rock Cottage is a little hidden gem, we had a great weekend away with our little dog, Cilla. The features of the cottage and the history of how it was made is truly unique and you could not have asked for better hosts. Everything we needed was available, and we wanted for nothing. Cranky Rock has been my absolute favourite getaway in as long as I can remember. The cottage was incredible, the property was stunning, we had some friendly furry visitors and it was so nice to meet Pam and have her show us through the place and explain how it came to be.
