About this property

Lost in the Vines. Vineyard Escape.

The Cottage on "Tintookie Vineyards" sits on a slope in the middle of a 17 ha property in an area called Blewitt Springs, in the heart of the McLaren Vale Wine district.
It is a small open plan house with lots of light and views from every window. The bedrooms are a reasonable size, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen and a king single bed. The main room is quite spacious with a kitchen, pantry, dining area and a TV/reading lounge area with a freestanding wood heater. It is in a very private and serene setting with wonderful views down the coast and as far as Rapid Heads. It is surrounded by trees, vineyards and bird song. There are lovely outdoor areas for eating or sitting and relaxing.
We would encourage guests to wander around the property, keeping in mind that it is a working vineyard.
We are 10 minutes from McLaren Vale and from great wineries, restaurants and coffee.
Wine, dine, walk, ride or just sit and read or enjoy the peace and take in the view.
Blewitt Springs is about 45 minutes from the CBD but very rural.
If you are coming from the city, come up Flagstaff Hill Rd and through Clarendon. A shorter drive and way more picturesque.

Thank you Lulu for making our stay so wonderful. Freshly baked bread & a basket of goodies was a welcomed surprise. It was the perfect place to relax & unwind and/or visit the nearby wineries Heather (Melbourne) & Belinda (Traralgon)

Perfect Getaway
Lulu's place was perfect for a couples getaway. Absolutely private, with stunning views. We arrived to a fire burning in the wood heater and a warm loaf of homemade bread on the counter, along with a bottle of wine from the vineyard and a selection of breakfast supplies and some treats. Very comfortable beds with linen sheets. The whole place was comfortable and very clean, with lots of added touches to make our stay special. Thoroughly recommend Lulu's property.

Cosy vineyard escape
A delightful, cosy home surrounded by vineyards. Exceptionally well equipped with so many thoughtful extras that made the stay extra special: a bottle of wine, freshly baked bread, eggs, milk, chocolate biscuits, nuts, etc - all to enjoy sitting around the combustion fire. The sun setting over the vineyards, little wrens coming to say hello. The perfect McLaren Vale escape. Would highly recommend. Also check out Mitolo for a delicious lunch or dinner. Easy drive from the property.

The cottage has stunning view down the valley across the vines to the hills in the distance. Lulu is a superb host who has thought of everything. I cannot overstate how incredibly generous she was with provisions. There was freshly baked homemade bread, eggs, pastries, homemade preserves, wine from her vineyard, Tim Tams and plenty of other treats. We had the pleasure of running into Lulu as she was about to milk one of the goats. She even gave us some of her fresh homemade goats curd to take with us. The property is peaceful yet still close to McLaren Vale and many notable wineries and restaurants. Prior to our visit Lulu provided lots on information and already made us feel welcome. We would love to return to this special place one day.

Gorgeous view, peace and quiet, great provisions, cozy cottage
Thank you for a wonderful stay at Tintookie Cottage! We were so grateful for the peace and quiet, glorious view from the large glass sliding doors across the vines to the hills, cozy log fire and thoughtful provisions like fresh bread and local raw honey. The linen sheets on the comfy bed were an unexpected surprise and every little touch made our stay to warm and relaxing. We enjoyed a much-needed break away from our kids and can’t wait to come back again. Thank you Lulu :)

Superb
We were very spoilt by Lulu with homemade bread on our arrival, fresh eggs and plenty of oranges to make fresh juice. We enjoyed our stay so much that we only went out once briefly and chilled the rest of the time overlooking the vineyeards. Perfect getaway.

Absolutely delightful
Lulu has prepared a tasteful decor throughout with all fittings of a high standard. The bed linen is as new, the bathroom with bath appears new and there are up to date touches such as free wifi and a Bluetooth music player as well as a player for the collection of DVDs. She provides home made bread and a bottle of their own wine. The cottage is within the vineyard with a glorious outlook over the vines as far as the eye can see. It has high chapel type ceilings which contribute to a feeling of airiness and spaciousness. Her pantry is stocked with items for use and every utensil and appliance imaginable. All the walls have collections of original paintings which delight with their quality. The heating is so efficient that even when the winter temperatures were very cold we were snug and cosy. There is a fully equipped laundry. Everything was scrupulously clean and tastefully selected with colour coordinated rugs on the floors. Board games and jigsaws were provided. The lounge sofas are comfortable and also convert to beds. Flowers greeted us and a blue wren and his jenny came close to the door. Rosella parrots gave a splash of colour. Outdoor chairs and tables with a view over the vineyard would be lovely to use in warmer weather. We also enjoyed walking around and exploring the property. All in all we were so happy with everything that it has been a joy to be able to write this in appreciation and gratitude to Lulu.

Comfortable house in picturesque location. Good facilities and immaculately clean.
Well set up and perfect as a base for touring the region’s cellar doors. We were there for three nights and would have liked to stay longer. Lulu was very helpful, and the house had everything we needed. Great view, great eggs!

Beautiful, quaint, & clean!
Tintookie was a super place to stay! We loved the setting and the amazing view from the large back windows. It was quiet, and when we had time we walked around the area a little, which was full of vineyards. The cottage was very clean and well equipped - fresh eggs, coffee, breakfast items, and fresh home made bread! There were games and books as well as a variety of movies to choose from. The rooms were large and beds perfect. Lulu also had red and white wine from their own vineyard to try, which was amazing (we had the red). Would certainly stay here again! Thanks for a great stay!

Hi, I am a viticulturist who is lucky enough to own and run a beautiful 40 acre vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale.

Why they chose this property

We built the house when we first moved here and lived in it for 8 years before my fabulously talented architecture husband got his way and built us a new home.

What makes this property unique

If you are after peace, privacy and your own cosy romantic getaway, this is the place for you. The views are fabulous and the sound of constant birdsong is a joy.
