The small, peaceful town of Clayton Bay is situated on the banks of the Murray River, one hour’s drive from Adelaide, and 12 km up-river from the historic river port town of Goolwa.

Nestled on the shores of a picturesque bay, surrounded by shady trees and abundant birdlife, the Boatman's Cabin is situated within the Clayton Bay Riverside Holiday Park, a small family-owned business and tranquil tourist destination.

This unique, self-contained accommodation offers a light-filled, spacious interior with stunning water views from both the open-plan living area and the private outdoor deck. The interior styling draws inspiration from the surrounding environment, featuring warm and natural tones reminiscent of the Murray River landscape.

Bedroom two: Double bed with single bunk above, quality linen and blankets, mirror, and wardrobe with hanging space.

Outdoor space: The extensive undercover wooden deck area offers spectacular expansive views of the Murray River and is surrounded by native gardens. This beautiful outdoor space includes four chairs and an outdoor coffee table.

Embracing the magnificent Murray River as our backyard, the surrounding holiday park stands as the ultimate hub for water-based adventures. The river and surrounding sheltered bays offer a safe place for kayaking, canoeing, sailing, motor boating, water-skiing and wakeboarding.

Kayak and Stand-up paddle board hire:
Conveniently, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards can be hired within the park from Clayton Bay Stand-Up Paddle Board and Kayak Hire.

Swimming and Fishing:
Cool down on those hot summer’s days with a refreshing dip in the Murray River. Along the shoreline exists two shallow, protected bays with sandy river floor beneath, offering a safe swimming area, making our caravan park a great choice to experience some family fun. If you’re keen on fishing, anglers both big and small can take the opportunity for a spot of fishing.

Campfires and stargazing:
Nature lovers will appreciate the abundant birdlife, stunning sunsets and waterside walking trails. In the cooler months you can sit outside and experience the warmth of your very own fire. Campfires are a great way to create special moments with your family and friends - melting marshmallows, sharing stories and looking up at the stars together. Fire pits are available for hire during fire season for a small fee. For your convenience, firewood is available to purchase; however, guests are welcome to BYO firewood.

The quiet picturesque town of Clayton Bay offers stunning scenery, appealing to tourists, nature and river lovers, sailors and water activity enthusiasts.

Situated on the foreshore, the town’s public recreational area features a jetty, boat ramp, undercover BBQ/picnic area, playground and large, grassy oval.

The Clayton Bay Foreshore walking trail lets you explore the scenic landscape along the peaceful pathway which gently meanders along the Clayton Bay Peninsula, where you are very likely to spot a large variety of local and migratory bird species.
Waterfowl are plentiful with wading birds strolling along the riverbank or gracefully paddling through the bay. Commonly sighted waterbirds include the Australian Pelican, Black Swan, Australian Darter, Great Egret, Australian White Ibis and Australasian Swamphen, to name a few.

Pier 28 is a contemporary restaurant/café/bar with a stylish ambience. Choose from a good range of modern Australian meals, indulge in a coffee, or sip on local wine or beer on the large outdoor deck, which offers scenic Murray River views.

Milang

Situated on the banks of Lake Alexandrina, facilities include a general store/cafe, takeaway shop, bakery and the historic Pier Hotel. The grassy lakeside recreational area has BBQs, picnic tables and a playground. Follow the signs and enjoy the Milang Historical Walk throughout the town pointing out historical facts and buildings.
