CAREEL COTTAGES are two completely self contained properties. Both are perfect for couples, families and friends. Our BACK COTTAGE is the larger of the two with a fully fenced garden and is available to book now for up to 6 guests. We also have a Travel Cot for guests travelling with an infant.

The BACK COTTAGE is the original cottage on the land
and has been newly renovated in May 2017. From its humble beginnings as a miners cottage in the 1940’s it is now a stylish and contemporary home waiting for you to come and enjoy. So if you are planning a stay in the mountains and want the convenience of being close to everything and not breaking your budget then Careel Cottages will not disappoint.

The BACK COTTAGE consists of 2 BEDROOMS with a Queen in the main bedroom and a double in the other. In the lounge we have a brand new Queen size top quality sofa bed which can accommodate 2 people making maximum people of 6 that can stay.
There are 2 BATHROOMS.
We can now offer a brand new kitchen and dining area that is designed to mix the old cottage ambience with the new. Creating we hope a mountains experience that will make your stay that extra bit special. If you want to cook at home everything is provided for you starting with the spacious essastone bench top and bar. Cooking is a Miele Induction cooktop and your oven is a Smeg. There is a dishwasher and if on a longer stay we have a combination washing machine dryer.
Our new lounge area has a cozy Rinnai real flame gas log fire which pumps out the heat to cope with the coldest of winter nights. All our furniture is super comfortable including our outdoor setting and BBQ area in the new covered patio which is a great space to take in the afternoon sun with a glass of wine.
We provide Foxtel in Both Cottages plus we have excellent high speed internet and offer Free Wi Fi in BOTH Cottages.

The FRONT COTTAGE has been renovated in 2016 and has a new bathroom and great new outdoor deck with BBQ.

TV LED HD. FOXTEL with Sports and Lifestyle channels is provided in BOTH cottages as well as free to air and digital channels. Both cottages also have Chromecast connected to the TV so you can stream your favorite Netflix, You tube and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) content from your device to our TV.

Free NBN Wi Fi is supplied for our guests in BOTH cottages. Internet speeds are around 24 Mbps.

Great weekender
Thanks so much for Steve and Sharon for letting us stay at your beautiful property. Our family and fur balls had a great weekend. House was comforting and warm (despite the wintery weather). Had all the perks with the TV entertainment package and our 5yo daughter loved the sofa bed. Close to town and surrounding tourist activities and even the pond and walks around the house were very tranquil. The sports and aquatic centre even proved a bonus to fulfil a few hours. Hope to be back again some time

The space was well equipped with plenty to use in the kitchen and lots of extra blankets for warmth. It has a very cosy vibe. Very close to the town centre and main attractions.

We loved this well thought out cottage and the location. Close to the town centre and opposite a beautiful park. The owners were so helpful and provided great service. The cottage has everything you need. We will be booking again this year. We had a great time.

Three night get away
We stayed here in 2022 for 2 nights and found we needed longer to get away from Sydney, so chose a 3 night stay this weekend. Property has all we needed (and many things we didnt use, but others no doubt will). Far enough away from the main streets, but close enough to walk if you are active enough and a perfect location to venture out to any of the Blue Mountains 'places to see'

Katoomba Short stay
Property had everything we needed and more. Steve abd Sharon have really set this place up nicely. Fenced area for our puppy, plus all amenities that we needed. Relatively short (but uphill) walk to the main street of Katoomba, or a 2 minute drive. We could not be happier with the place itself, and the location. We certainly will be looking at this place on our next trip up to the Blue Mountains

Great location, cozy and well equipped
Location of the cottage is really great. Its modern design gives the coziness. I liked there are 2 sofas with one of them is convertible sofa bed to accommodate 6 of us without talking away the comfort of the living room. The kitchen is well equipped with everything for a simple cooking when we don’t feel like dining out. The instant heaters really help in the morning as it was still quite cold. We enjoyed a walk at the little lake opposite the cottage in one of the evenings. It gave a very peaceful feeling with the great sunset. Overall, my family had a great experience staying at the cottage. Everyone including our teenage children enjoyed staying at the cottage. Thanks to Steve and Sharon for their responsiveness on my emails. Oh, almost forgot to mention that the complementary container of candies and chocolates in the fridge makes my children happy too. Thank you 😄

Lovely family getaway in the mountains
We had a lovely school holiday getaway at Careel cottages. The place was very thoroughly furnished, very clean, the hosts communicated very well and also managed to allow an earlier check in. Lots of heating, beautiful gas fireplace and other heaters to keep us all cosy and the house was very private at the back of the property. Tonnes of entertainment including Netflix, Stan etc. to keep our kids busy! Our pet cavoodle also loved the property and surrounding walks, and it was also within walking distance to the main town shops - providing good exercise going up the hill :) I highly recommend this place and would stay here again, thank you!

Perfect for our getaway!
The cottage was perfect for our stay. Bright and spacious with everything you could ever need for a weekend away. Lots of blankets and throws and the gas fire was amazing. Heated the whole house, there was no need to use any of the other heaters that were provided.. A very comfortable sofa bed. Steve was a lovely host who provided all the information we needed and let us know the cottage was ready early if we were able to take advantage of an early check in. The beautiful park across the road with the walking track was an added bonus.

Peaceful Getaway
Great location and great house to stay at. Offers everything you need for your stay. Only minutes from downtown and the park across the road was nice to walk the dogs every morning, with a little history tour along the way. Would highly recommend and would love to stay again. Weather was perfect too, cold but beautiful sunshine out everyday.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Mountains the cottage was so warm and cosy with everything we needed. It was located within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. We brought our fur baby, so it was fantastic there was a fully enclosed fence to keep him safe. Loved our stay would return again.

A clean and comfortable home close to town .
Exactly as advertised. The bed is very firm which suited us but may not work for others. The kitchen is well set up and little extras make the place even better. Recent poor weather has left the garden a bit overgrown which made it impossible to use the outside area ( inundated with mozzies). Great kitchen and bathroom and very clean .
