Gumbuya - a beach retreat

This is a BOAT/FERRY ACCESS ONLY location

Great Mackerel Beach is a small peaceful community opposite Palm Beach with no shops.
Access is by ferry on the hour from Palm Beach Wharf during the day or water taxi at other times. It is a very scenic 30 minute ferry ride from Palm Beach Wharf.
The location has an abundance of wildlife and a sub-tropical terrain. Great Mackerel Beach borders the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and therefore a fantastic place for bushwalking.This is a place where it is common to see wallabies, monitors, goannas, lyre birds and brush turkeys.

The newly renovated house consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 queen rooms and a bunk room that sleeps 2
The house is suitable for a maximum of 6 guests.
There are two covered decks, one at the front of the house and one at the back. The front deck features a large dining table, daybed, and a wicker outdoor lounge.
There are two newly renovated bathrooms, one with bath/shower and laundry. The other bathroom has shower/toilet and vanity.
There is a well equipped new kitchen and living area.
The kitchen is stocked with salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, sugar and condiments for guest use.

A wonderful place to stay

A clean, well-kept, very well organised property. We were provided with every comfort we needed and more to ensure a great stay for everyone - which ranged from children to grandparents and two dogs.

We love Gumbaya

We had the most beautiful long weekend staying at Gumbaya for my 40th birthday. The house was beautiful, clean and so easy to live in. Wonderful location set back in the forest and everything you could want/need. Communication with the owners was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Great Escape to Greater Mackerel

At the end of a delightful walk up from the beach, across a creek and into the bush, we enjoyed a delightful home away from home. Lots of space and well set up for a relaxed weekend away - shared with the family.

3 night escape back in time

We were so impressed by the modern amenities and amount of additional items which made our stay wonderful for my family and dog. Although very wet for the last day and a half, we enjoyed the house even more and would highly recommend it

We loved our weekend at Gumbuya!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Gumbuya! My two boys had so much fun swimming, fishing and exploring. We loved the paddle board, kayak and bike, left by Rose and Yvette for visitors to use. The games drawer was also a hit. We all wanted to stay longer. The house has everything you need to make a visit to Mackeral memorable. We are already planning trip #2 Thank you Rose and Yvette

Perfect Mackerel Family Pad

Gumbuya is perfectly equipped for a family holiday at Mackerel Beach. Rose and Yvette have thought of everything - kitchen is well equipped, board games, kids games, eskys, beach toys...I could go on! Gumbuya was meticulously clean and functional in every sense. Thanks for having us Rose and Yvette, we hope to be back soon..

Fantastic stay with friends

Absolutely lovely place with lots of little touches to make the holiday feel extra special. We loved the layout of the property and the log fire. The children enjoyed all the beach toys of which there were many - parasols, boogie boards, swing ball etc the location in perfect. We could have stayed for a week! Thank you Yvette and Rose!

Beautiful serene stay but left dog at home

We loved our family holiday here. Gorgeous cottage with great amenities and a thoughtfully stocked pantry and fridge given it is not easy to go and grab something you might have forgotten. We had originally planned to bring our dog however we did not understand until later that he would need to be on leash the whole time he was outside. It does not have a fenced yard. We therefore had to change plans for him so something for others to be aware of. Would definitely recommend this property.

A perfect getaway

The property was perfect for a family holiday - it had all the facilities we needed for a very easy and relaxed beach holiday and was brilliantly located. The house had great spaces inside and out with plenty of room, especially with a deep front verandah that was great for meals, games, snoozing, reading and relaxing.

Mackerel getaway

The was fabulous, well stocked and comfortable. Would highly recommend for family getaway. The bikes & beach toys were very handy, my husband loved the SUP. The main negative was the small fridge which they try to facilitate with a large esky however over a week we needed to go back into Palm Beach for twice . Would a fan in the bunk room & sharper knives in the kitchen however these were only minor issues. Will definitely be coming back. Rose & Yvette were amazing hosts, made the stage more enjoyable

A perfect beach getaway

We have just come back from a fantastic 2 weeks here. The perfect getaway: relaxed, easy, only minutes from the beach. The house is a well designed beach house with all mod cons. The hosts very communicative and helpful. We will definitely be back

The cleanliness, decor etc all outstanding and I do hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.... just need a bigger fridge or bring an ice chest if staying a while!
