The Strand House is well located in the township of Kooringal. A short walk or a shorter drive will see you either at the beach or the "World Famous Gutter Bar" for some fresh seafood or a burger. The GB also stocks a supply of essential items for sale in case something is forgotten.
*** Check barge availability when considering dates and prior to booking. A reliable 4WD is a necessity. It is a sand island, no bitumen roads.
The house is best suited to either two couples or a couple with older children. The two bedrooms have Queen beds in each bedroom. Each bedroom has a fan available and one bedroom has a wall mounted TV.
Doonas and pillows are provided but sheets and towels are not so please make sure you bring your own linen as we currently do not have a laundry or washing machine.
The appeal of the house is the outdoor living area with a custom built bar, a dining table that seats 8, a bbq and a fireplace for that chilly evening or just to add some ambiance. Firewood is not supplied but is an adventure collecting your own.
The house operates by Solar Power so we ask guests to be mindful of power usage. Girls no hair dryers or straighteners please! Beware of excessive use of the microwave, especially at night when the sun is not shining to top up the batteries.
Water is supplied via water tanks, hence one bathroom and an outdoor shower for rinsing off as you come back from the beach. We do not currently have a washing machine, therefore the necessity for your own sheets and towels.
We have recently installed a new kitchen with all new appliances including a 900cm Smeg gas oven, built in water filter, a large fridge/freezer, microwave and pod coffee machine for your enjoyment.
The lounge inside has a wall mounted TV with a built in DVD player. Card games and some board games are available and NBN is available at an extra cost upon request.
Moreton Island is one of our largest sand islands accessible by 4WD only. The drive along the Eastern (surf) beach to the Light house especially in whale watching season is well worth while. Continue over the hill to North Point, arguably one of the best beaches you will see, a mostly gentle surf break and the Champagne Rock Pools will make a great day out.
Fishing galore, the Gutter offers a safe anchorage for boats and excellent for stand up paddle boarding or snorkeling at high tide. Or simply set up for a beach bbq and relax all just a barge ride from Brisbane.
Micat barge operates daily from the Port of Brisbane to Tangalooma, bookings via the website.
Permits to enter the National Park must be purchased prior to arrival via the NPQWS website. Absolutely no pets allowed due to National Park restrictions.
All other questions can be answered and assistance given at the time of booking.
