Delightful Home Away From Home
Annie and Michel were the most hospitable hosts who made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. When we arrived it was late in the day and all the major food stores were closed - but Annie took us to her cousin's bakery - the only place open - and made sure we had supplies for the night of homemade pizza and beautiful breads and pastries! From the very first day the friendliness of Annie, her husband and extended family nearby really touched our hearts. The neighbours also waved hello and always asked if we needed anything.
The property was very cosy and comfortable - it felt like home - and it was well-equipped for the cooking we needed to do, and washing of clothes etc. The weather was extremely cold but the house was very warm with very effective heating and a great wood-burner with plenty of wood supplies in the barn. We loved that aspect of having a log fire and we were never cold. Annie kept asking if we were warm enough!
We felt very safe in this house and its location was central to all our requirements - it was nestled on the side of a hill and road overlooking the beautiful countryside and so quiet at night - sleeping was heaven there. The outlook from our bedroom window was very pretty with the almond tree blossoms appearing and gorgeous daffodils in bloom - the stars at night were spectacular as we usually don't get to see the Milky Way anymore in big cities.
We would heartily recommend staying there. As we have bought our own house in France, we are sad that we will not be regular guests at the gite in the future, but we are very happy and content with the fact that we have made delightful new friends in a wonderful country and we know that we can always meet up with them and share a meal and great conversations together.
Thank you to Annie, Michel and family for a wonderful experience that we will never forget!
