Wonderful weekend getaway

The place was perfect for a weekend getaway to Surfside. The house is very basic and simple which is all we needed and expected for the price. Owner was very helpful and worked with us extremely well. The kids already miss the triangle house! My one note, past reviews state the stairs are steep, I would more describe them as a large ladder in order to access the loft. Older, very little children and those with physical limitations will struggle to use. This is just a product of the small home trying to have more space. It worked fine for us.

Clean house, just two blocks from street. It was really cool to sit on deck and watch oil/cargo ship’s coming into port! I can’t wait to plan another trip!

We loved the CapeJoy house! Easy check in and out. A/C works GREAT! Perfect size with a great full size kitchen stocked with all you may need to cook and eat a meal! Highly recommend!

Perfect for a little getaway. It’s a cute and cozy place to stay. It’s not a very big place but it was great for myself, husband and dog. Joy was very nice and made everything easy regarding our stay. Will definitely return.

Loved the Experience!

The property owner, Joy, was very nice and clear in communications as far as check-in, check-out, and the rules for staying in the house. The house itself was clean, cute, and comfortable. My friends and I had a great girl’s weekend!

Decent Space/Location

It is an older property but decently maintained. This would be a tight fit for a family or multiple adults. For a couple it was an intimate space. Short drive to beach access and the fishing jetty.

Bugs

The place is super cute for 2 people. We were glad we didn’t bring the whole family, because it would have been a very tight fit. Night 1 we noticed some small bugs, but nothing too big. We thought maybe it was just 1 or 2. Night 2 of a 3 night stay we made dinner and sat down to eat at the small coffee table. We had a bread roll in a bag and salad in a bowl we hadn’t finished eating, and within 10 minutes when we went back for seconds, it had bugs in the closed bread bag and salad. When we let the owner know (sent pictures), they said the QUARTERLY service was schedule the next weekend, their cleaning people hadn’t noticed any bugs (which we didn’t either much until we made food), and that the previous guests must have brought them in. This is an unacceptable response. They should have discounted our stay and most importantly sent a local person to get big spray and spray the place. But clearly they need monthly service. And they need to not blame other renters. And they should have made an effort to correct the situation. I would not recommend staying here. Oh and the last morning we saw a cockroach the size of a thumb nail. We have stayed in many rentals and never had bugs much less a response like this. Never mind the smell of smoke in the AC, but that was minor compared to the bugs.

Cozy unique little house.

Such a cool “A frame” style house. My kids loved the loft style the house design had to offer. House was well stocked with almost everything you would need. Toilet paper was a bit shy for 6 folks. Good location and very quiet spot. Floor was a little dirty upon arrival but hey it’s hard to battle the sand when that close to the beach. I would stay again and recommend “Cape Joy” to anyone.

A more laidback beach experience

Cape Joy is a great little A-frame beach house in the middle of a quiet beach front neighborhood. It looks recently remodeled and is nicely decorated. It’s great alternative to the big condominiums and resort towns.
