We loved the house! It was the perfect location, great size and comfortable backyard/courtyard. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the beds were so comfortable! We would stay in the house again the next time we ski Monarch or want to come and fish and ride mountain bikes! The kitchen had everything we needed!
We had a wonderful stay here during a ski trip to Monarch. The house was very charming and clean. The hot tub was also, clean, comfortable, and stayed warm even with very cold temperatures. The backyard was fenced in so we could let our dogs out without worrying. We were able to walk to downtown Salida, which was wonderful, and it was a short 35-minute drive to the monarch ski resort. The host was very helpful and kind - one of us left our toiletry bag at the house and the cleaning crew was able to mail it back to us. All in all a great stay. We would book here again and would recommend!
We have stayed at this listing 3 times during the winter. Every time has been a wonderful experience. The host is always available for questions and the house has everything you could ask for! We will definitely be back again.
Another lovely stay at the Sunflower house. Enjoyed a couple days of skiing at the wonderful Monarch Mountain. Got out for a fun bike ride on the Monarch Spur Trail, the bikes are such a great perk of the property. Such a nice walk into town to enjoy some holiday cheer!
Darling house. Pet friendly. Lots of nice little touches like tea, coffee and butter. Wonderful patio and hot tub. Close to downtown. Great for walking. Loved using the bikes! Bed and bedding was really comfortable. We loved it.
Close to downtown, the river, and our family. Clean, comfortable, and plenty of space. We will definitely be back. PS And thanks for the great weather to enjoy the huge patio.
The property was perfect for us. We loved that it was so accommodating to our dog Gizmo. He was very comfortable there as were we. When the adult children came there was plenty of sleeping space on the comfy couches. They are more like a day bed. The house was very close to town and we enjoyed the back yard and riding the townie bikes into town for ice cream.
We stayed here for three nights and the little home was perfect. The host has put a lot of effort into making sure the place is stocked with any necessities and it’s such a convenient location downtown but far enough to be a quiet respite. I would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely 2 nights in Salida. The house was adorable and the outside area was awesome. I have one suggestion- put lights along the walkway to the hot tub.
I highly recommend a stay at this house!! Best part- deer!! We saw so many deer in Salida.
Loved the attention to details to make us feel home. Our dog loved the backyard as well!
Plenty to do for a long weekend!
The A/C was definitely a plus and worked great!

About the host
Hosted by Caren Mapes
Bill, our 5 year old son Max and myself (Caren) live in Breckenridge CO. I moved to Breckenridge in 1985 from Michigan and fell in love with mountain life immediately. Bill is a physical therapist and Caren is the owner of Blue Sage Spa in downtown Breckenridge.
Why they chose this property
In the mid 80's I found myself in Salida working for Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center (RMOC) as a photographer. I would drive up and down the river with my Mother's old Cutless Supreme and take photos of the rafters, then drive back the RMOC and develop the film in a darkroom aka closet, give a slideshow to the guests and sell them prints. Did I mention I lived in a tent by the river as well? These were fond memories for me so when Bill and I had the opportunity in buy a place in Salida we jumped on it. Downtown Salida used to be a ghost town back then, but now it is thriving and it is so nice to see the transformation. The community of people are friendly and laid back and we love spending time here. When looking to buy, we tooled around with our real estate agent on our bikes and we must have looked at 35 properties until we found the house on Teller St. We love it because of it's fun and funky touches outside and in, but mostly because Bill and I have created a great outdoor living space that provides comfort and relaxation for all to enjoy!
What makes this property unique
I would say the unique benefits of this property is that we have all brand new furniture in the home with a mid century modern flair. We do accept most pets and have an enclosed backyard so guests can let Rover roam around without the worry of him getting loose. The outdoor living space provides ample room for guests to relax and enjoy themselves, and the hot tub helps guests melt away any tension or stress!
