Summer Recreation Opportunities
In the summer, the 48-acre Harry A. Nottingham Park offers fun for the whole family. The Town of Avon has partnered with Stand Up Paddle Colorado to offer recreation activities on the lake during the summer months from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day weekend from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. They offer pedal boat rentals, stand up paddle board rentals, and kayak rentals. Rent a paddle boat, fish or swim in the lake, walk around the park, or just relax on the grass and bask in the sunshine. In addition, Avon offers a diverse line-up of vibrant arts, education and cultural events to enjoy at the Nottingham Park Pavilion and along the Main Street Mall.
Across from the park is Avon’s Recreation Center, a 40,000 square foot facility with a 140 foot indoor waterslide, 5-lane lap pool, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and much more. Looking for a little more adventure? A short walk down the road will bring you to the Eagle River where three river features provide beginning, intermediate and advanced surfing opportunities for kayakers. Take a stroll or bike along the river on the Eagle Valley Trail, running along the river's edge, through Avon to either Edwards or Eagle Vail and beyond.
