Working waterfront views in a quintessential Maine harbor town
Our house is located on the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island with gorgeous water views of Bass Harbor and a working waterfront. The sunsets are spectacular; just ask all the folks that pull up to take pictures! The house has plenty of room to spread out and to entertain with an open concept living space that includes sunroom, dining space and kitchen. The front lawn is perfect for a barbecue or to just relax and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. We are close to Acadia National Park and on the free, seasonal bus route. Steps away from the Swans Island Ferry. Your leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome.

Older home had lots of space to spread out and had a great view of the harbor and visiting deer. However, not all of the windows had window treatments (needed for full moon brightness). Not far from Acadia hiking.
Property was well laid out and clean with plenty of space. Great view of the sunset and nice walk to the local restaurant on the harbor. One minor disappointment was the lack of a fire pit as the picture showed a rock formation for one but instead were planters where the rocks previously were.
Our 5 night stay here was fantastic! The home was very clean and comfortable. The home is very organized and the host has clearly thought of all the amenities one could need when traveling. The town itself is very quiet but it is a quick drive to Southwest Harbor which has a cute downtown and the home is close to the Island Explorer bus stop. The home served as a great base for our family for exploring Acadia. We were also able to work remotely and didn't have any connectivity issues. All in all, we had a wonderful stay!
Our family stopped here for a few days during a New England trip. Great location, great home, and great communications with the host. Great views out of the sun room.
Acadia National Park is a short drive away and Harbor Cruises are a short walk from this home with great local food in Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor.
Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time staying at Lauren's house. It was comfortable and well equipped. Lauren was gracious, helpful and responsive. We hated to leave!
We couldn’t have asked anymore from our host. Lauren was very responsive from the first inquiry. She constantly stayed in communication with me. I ask for an odd request to store a camper. She was able to help with finding a solution for me. The home was so very comfortable and cozy. Everything we needed was there. We stayed for five weeks and loved each and every moment. And the sunsets from the front of the house are mesmerizing. Thank you Lauren for making our time there comfortable and memorable.
The home is in a great location, was very clean, well equipped, and had everything our group of 7 needed. It was comfortable for all of us and the water view is great.
Acadia NP is not far, Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor are quaint little towns worth a visit. The bakery in Southwest Harbor is a must!
Thank you for everything and we may be back.
Quiet small fishing harbor area. Away from the main island attractions, but still within easy driving distance, and away from overcrowded Bar Harbor. There is only one restaurant currently open in the village of Bass Harbor, and we were underwhelmed by their offerings. Southwest Harbor (10 miles) has very good restaurant choices.
The property was well maintained & had everything needed to make the vacation enjoyable! Plenty of room for 6 of us! Also close to a lovely restaurant on the Harbor & the Bass Island lighthouse!
Had a lovely 4 night stay at this quiet, super clean, and cozy cottage. Had everything we might ever need (and more) to feel comfortable and happy. Lauren was kind and responsive. Beds were comfortable and the inviting sunroom with windows on all three sides was our favorite place to relax and unwind. Location was just what we wanted - quiet but still close enough to all the places in Acadia we wanted to visit. Thank you, Lauren, for a wonderful stay.
The house was conveniently located near the Bass Harbor lighthouse and Acadia National Park. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We had a hard time locating the house initially bc we arrived at night (house is next to the third building structure and set back) but the host responded right away to help us out.
The house worked out great for us. One couple had their sailboat docked right down the street in the harbor so it was super easy to go back-and-forth. The house was clean and comfortable and cute. Away from the fray of Bar Harbor, but close enough to lots of Acadia trails etc.
This is a wonderful house with a beautiful view of Bass Harbor. It’s on the quiet side of MDI, close to hiking trails, wonderful scenery and great places to eat. The owner was very responsive and accommodating. It’s a great place to stay.
We loved this property, which suited our needs perfectly as an active family of 5 , for a visit to Mount Desert Island. We used the house mostly as a place to spread out, relax, unwind and cook dinner after days of hiking and exploring. A lovely well-appointed home, quiet, with a wonderful garden room that feels like sitting outside (without the mosquitoes, which were an issue outside.). We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you, Lauren!
This was the first time our party of 3 was visiting Acadia and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The home was comfortable, super clean, had an exceptionally well stocked kitchen and the host could not have been easier to deal with. Only a 30min drive to Bar Harbor or you can hop on the free Acadia shuttle to get anywhere in the park. It was great! Hope to stay at this wonderful property again someday!
The property is better than what I expected! It is very spacious and very clean. It is equipped with abundant supplies in the kitchen and bathrooms; or I should say throughout the whole property. It was very easy to communicate with Lauren before arrival and had a pleasant conversation with her in person. Will definitely stay again in the future.
Everything was as described. House was full of charm and the quiet side of the island is called that for a reason. Very peaceful and calm! Great experience and stay!
