THE INCREDIBLE HISTORY OF LINDEN LODGE

Being an imposing 1870s Residential Lodge and a distinguished historic house of exceptional comfort, this building is approaching 150 years old and survives as one of the oldest masonry structures to still stand in the Blue Mountains.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in a slice of Blue Mountains history, with stunning valley views. Linden Lodge is a truly exceptional and rare example of a historic Victorian home built in the Blue Mountains, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Sydney. Linden Railway station is just a stroll away.

Originally built by William Henderson, a prosperous warehouseman, this Victorian home was completed in 1876. This gracious period home has much of the original features retained and is set on a 5523m block. The property once boasted a tennis court and a 9-hole golf course; sadly, those days have passed and have been left as a note of a prosperous lifestyle and history of the past. History shows the property has been used as a private residence and has also been used as a country retreat. In 1916 the property became a very successful up-market boarding house and post office from the Lodge until 1919 and later a school. Linden Railway station is just a stroll away; Henderson had Linden Railway station built with support from neighbours.

Historic architectural features include:
Circa 1865-1876
Linden Lodge survives as a rare example of a Victorian home built in masonry in the Blue Mountains.
Grand 2-metre wide central entry hall, high ceilings, and many of the original Victorian features have been maintained throughout the home.
Hardwood timber floors and a beautiful timber staircase between the lower and upper levels
Beautiful marble fireplaces, gorgeous windows, and French doors leading out to the verandahs provide the ambiance and romance of Victorian architecture and a colonial homestead lifestyle
The construction features fine brickwork, tuckpointed with a black mortar and using bullnose bricks on all external corners and openings.
Timber verandahs encompass all four sides of this grand colonial Victorian architecture with the south side overlooking picturesque valley views.
The verandah form of the house is a good example of the typical house built in the district during the nineteenth century.

LOCATION
Located within a culturally, environmentally, and historically rich world heritage area of the Blue Mountains, with Linden's famous Observatory, Faulconbridge Norman Lindsay Gallery, well-known icons such as the Three Sisters, waterfalls, bush walks, Katoomba and Leura moments away. The region offers quality galleries, cafes and restaurants. The property and location are an ideal base for exploring the many attractions of the greater Blue Mountains' scenic heritage areas and local townships and villages. Had a nice 3 day getaway with a few friends and family to celebrate my 50th.
The property was great for our little get together. Plenty of room for us all, had everything we needed there and was clean and tidy. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful house; spectacular outlook
This is an extremely spacious and gracious house which offered splendid accommodation for our party of 10. The references to a quiet neighbourhood are somewhat misleading as the property fronts on to the Great Western Highway. That said, many of the rooms are quiet and basically free of traffic and rail noise.
