About this property

SKY RIVER CABIN- VIEWS, CLOSE TO HIKING

OUR CABIN SITS ON THE BANK OF THE S. FORK OF THE TYE RIVER (aka SKYKOMISH RIVER S. FORK) WITH A SWEEPING NATURAL VIEW ACROSS THE RIVER CHANNEL OF 5,000' BECKLER PEAK AND THE WILD SKY WILDERNESS in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Nearby activities include hiking, biking, rafting & kayaking, rock climbing, birdwatching, mushrooming, exploring the lakes and waterfalls and historic areas around Stevens Pass, historic Skykomish and Index, or just relaxing to the sound of the river or a crackling fire.

THIS CABIN IS CUTE AND PERFECT FOR 1-3 COUPLES OR A FAMILY TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL! The living area is bright and cheery, with lots of windows looking across the river to the mountain wilderness beyond. The hardwood floors and wood paneling give the place a rustic feel, and you'll love curling up in front of the fire on our comfy leather furniture for conversation, a glass of wine, or a good book or a movie. The living room opens to a deck on the river bank with a table and six chairs and a gas BBQ to facilitate outdoor meals or projects. The dining area views the greenery and the river by day or a roaring fire at night, and is perfect for after-dinner games or even doing a little work using our high-speed internet access & wifi. The fully equipped kitchen is newly updated to feature modern appliances and a beautiful granite countertop so that guests can visit while the chef prepares the feast.

The three bedrooms each feature a queen-size bed, reading lamp(s) and a dresser and/or closet for storage, and a couple of airbeds can be arranged for children to sleep in their parents room if desired. The main bathroom downstairs has a double sink separated from the toilet & shower, with beautiful stone tile and a luxurious heated floor throughout. Another half-bath and toilet are upstairs. The mudroom is perfect for washing and/or drying wet or muddy clothing after a day out-of-doors, and includes a full washer-dryer.

Enjoy a BBQ on the deck or an evening campfire under the stars, listening to the river.

Wildlife lovers will enjoy an ever-changing 'show' starring the occasional Bald Eagle or Osprey, wild ducks (harlequins, mergansers and wood ducks), water ouzels, swallows, swifts, nighthawks, etc., and laugh as the Rufous Hummingbirds joust for territory and mates. Squirrels, chipmunks, and racoons live on the property and at various times Black Bears, Coyotes, Otters, Mink, Beaver and Deer have visited, and we regularly observe coho salmon spawn in the channel in front of our cabin. Early spring is especially nice if you like hummingbirds, frog choruses, and native wildflowers.

Reservations are accepted from non-smokers only as our home is a smoke free environment, and damage penalties will be assessed for non-compliance. Pets are fine, and there is a nice stake-out area.

Amazing location on the river

The Sky River cabin was exactly what we were looking for for a long weekend. Easy river access, very peaceful, and great views from the cabin. George and Pat were extremely helpful with their communication and had lots of recommendations for hikes in the area. I would definitely stay again next time I'm in the area

Vacation with elderly parents

Overall the cabin is very rustic. I think it is geared toward more able body people. Master bed is higher than normal, couch and chairs in living room are lower than normal but comfortable. This is not meant as a negative, the place is very cozy. George and Pat are very nice and helpful. You should try this place if you don't have any physical issues.

Relaxing Mountain Retreat

Terrific lodging with awesome river running outside the patio doors. Fall asleep & wake up to the sound of the river. Beds were comfortable and bedding was great. Spacious, clean, and decorated wonderfully in a tucked away neighborhood. We wish the washer & dryer was working.

Read all details before staying.

Our two nights with 4 people and 2 dogs was very expensive for what was offered in my opinion. The photos do not show that on either side of the cabin there are cabins, you can see the decks and hear people chatting. I’m not sure if the property listing changed later on because none of us saw anything about a shared hot tub or fire pit. I contacted the owners that were nice enough about it and said they weren’t going to use it, but none of us felt comfortable walking over in bathing suits to sit in front of their cabin/deck, and this was a pretty big bummer. Also, in the cabin’s info booklet it stated you couldn’t use it after 10:30pm FYI. Like the other comments said, the river is quite far away from the cabin, you get peekaboo views and you can walk down from the community access down the road. You can hear the river with the windows and doors open and it’s very relaxing. There is a drop off about 5 feet from the deck to more stagnate water, scared me when our dog got too close. We cook fairly large meals, glad I read another post about the lack of kitchen pots and pans, they are all tiny and we brought our own as well as tongs and what not. The beds were comfy but no curtains on the upstairs bed facing the river. Heat works and a nice fireplace. Plenty of room for 6 people. We had a good time overall but probably would pick a cabin next time with more privacy.

Cozy rustic lil cabin

We had a lovely stay at this cabin! The owners were extremely communicative with the local wildfires throwing a wrench in our original plans, and were very accommodating and flexible with dates and times as we were trying to work around the Highway 2 closure. The cabin is super cozy and very peaceful. We didn't even need to light a fire in the fireplace because the cabin retains heat so well. The box fans in the bedrooms were perfect! The downstairs bathroom is wonderful with a heat fan and good ventilation. Kitchen was well stocked and had pretty much everything we needed. Be sure to bring some unsalted peanuts, as there are a few sets of Steller's Jays that wait patiently every morning for goodies at the bird feeder on the back porch :) The only tiny nitpicks were that the bedrooms upstairs had several cobwebs and spiders we ran into while walking into the rooms and a couple dead bugs here and there on linens so it seems like no one had stayed up there in a bit. The only other thing is the pillows are all super thin, so if you get neck pain like I do, be sure to bring your own! All in all a very relaxing and lovely stay!

Little Details, Big View

This rental is part of a community of cabins, many of them also rentals, but the property owners have let the trees grow up between the properties so that we hardly knew anyone was next door. And yet the shrubs were cut back for a beautiful and serene view off the porch. We could see the mountains when the clouds cleared and see/hear the river rapids across the wildflower meadow. This felt like a cabin, and yet the property owners have taken time to make sure it is completely comfortable. We appreciated the motion-detector nightlight in the bathrooms, every bedroom had a box fan available in the closet, and directions about the care of the property were clear and helpful. Some rentals leave the guests with a long to-do list upon checkout, and we were not asked to do anything we wouldn't ask guests in our own home to do. The property owners have also left a HUGE binder of things to do with all the details a person would need. We enjoyed Deception Falls, coffee in Skykomish, and skipping stones in the river. It was a great trip!

Awesome cabin for a longer weekend, so quiet with a beautiful view.

We stayed for a long weekend hoping to get away from the fireworks in the city. The host confirmed that there was a fireworks ban in the community, and it was enforced. We never heard even 1 firework go off! Some of the reviews of this place are complaining about privacy and rowdy neighbors... if you keep in mind that you are staying at a cabin, next to other cabins, there will be other people (it's not a rustic cabin in the middle of nowhere!!). We were there on the 4th and things were very low key. Other people were out grilling with their family or drinking with their friends on their own porches. The property has nice natural bushes and trees as barriers, it's not a hedge wall that you can't see through, but unless people are crawling into the bushes to peek through... it's private! The complaints about how far away the water is also silly, of course you can't jump off the back porch into the river in the summer... It was a 5 minute walk from the house down a quiet road and down a nice wooded trail where there were 2 picnic tables and a BBQ. The kitchen is freshly re-done, new appliances and everything worked well. The only slightly misleading thing from the post was the fire pit, it really is just a fire pit in the bushes between the 2 houses. Unless you are friends with the people next door, you probably won't be sitting out there. We will be back next year!

Used to be great

I wanted to like this place, but the check in process was so poor I got frustrated. The owners were kind enough to walk me through the fact that the front door was not opening for me, but it needs to be replaced so it unlocks easily. No person should have to solve a puzzle like that after 2 hours of driving. If you aren't looking really hard at those photos and the listing, you might miss that you share a hot tub.. which during COVID19 do not feel safe. The other house that shares this property was rowdy, in fact both homes on either side were rowdy. I rented this place thinking that it was much more isolated and private than it was. Inside the house was a beautiful full view of the river, but there's a huge wall and drop off which makes it impossible to access unless you go back out and around the road to a community beach. Inside the house was minimal in terms of things I needed to cook my own dinner. Knives were dangerously dull, kitchen was barely stocked with enough oven pans. I did finally settle into a "make do" attitude with the house, and enjoyed myself. But I won't be coming back to this house.

Sky River Cabin

The cabin was great; clean, nice interior, comfortable beds. The sound of the river was nice. The owners were available to help us with check in when we arrived. We had some misconceptions that affected our overall impressions. Had we known these details in advance, we likely wouldn't have felt the lack and therefore any negativity. There was no direct river access from the cabin due to an 8'+ drop to a pond between the property and the river and the area between the cabin and river is becoming overgrown with vegetation so the view of the river is only slight. The shared hot tub sits in front of the neighboring cabin's deck, not in shared space. The fire pit is behind the trees separating the two properties. We didn't feel comfortable using either as they were distinctly part of the neighbor's property. Other than that, the stay was pleasant, quiet and relaxing.

Relaxing Spot

This was a great little getaway. It was situated right off hwy 2 a few miles from downtown Skykomish. The home was very cozy and comfortable. My only disappointments were the hot tub being on the neighboring property and it was shared, which I did not understand from the listing. Also the houses/cabins were all really close and there were some party animals next door.

We met climbing and skiing with the Mountaineers, and we still love to get out into the mountains all seasons of the year.

Why they chose this property

Since we're located on the river bank with a view across the Skykomish River to Beckler Peak, our cabin is a great place to relax. At the same time, our location provides easy access to the entire Skykomish River Valley, up to Stevens Pass, and all the way to Leavenworth.
