About this property

A truly beautiful, secluded Provencal house with pool surrounded by vineyards

A beautiful and much loved Provencal home . The property is set among the Southern Rhone vineyards in a 3/4 acre private and secluded garden. The perfect place to escape to. Relax and unwind in the beautiful garden or pool area. The lovely, welcoming pool (8 x 4 meters) is set in the mature well tendered garden. The whole setting of this property is very private and secluded - the ideal place for a self catering holiday where you can enjoy the local food and wine. The property sleeps 8 people comfortably and has 2 bathrooms. The beautiful outside terraces have been arranged so that all meals can be enjoyed outdoors. The pool area has a covered open kitchen area comprising a bbq and sink. This lovely property is a short distance from the famous vineyards of Gigondas and Chateau Neuf du Pape. The village of Sablet is a lazy ten to fifteen minute walk away (1KM). All amenities are available: bank, general store, bakers, butchers, newsagents, hairdresser, medical centre, a choice of three restaurants.

The ideal holiday spot for Wine lovers: Sablet is on the Route des Vins. The local wines of the Southern Rhone are famous and certainly worth tasting! You can follow the signs for the Route des Vins trail by car or if you are feeling very fit, on bicycles!! You will be made very welcome by all the local vineyards, where you will be able to taste these delicious wines often served with equally delicious snacks from the area, such as freshly made tapenade (olive paste) with french bread. And best of all - there is no pressure for you to buy the wines.

If you would like to join an escorted wine tour of the Route des Vins, all contact information for joining a wine tour can be sent to you on request. There is normally a charge made per person, and you will have the option of either driving yourselves or, for an extra charge, being driven from lovely vineyard to lovely vineyard.

For any budding chefs out there: This area is a haven for foodies. The local market in Vaison la Romaine on a Tuesday morning is a place where you can completely lose yourself. You can buy all local produce and then go home and let your creativity take over the cooking. You will be amazed at just how many different types of tomato are available in this area and they all seem to taste of sunshine!

You have a huge number of restaurants in this area ranging from the local Sports bar in the centre of the village of Sablet, La Bastide Bleu on the road to Seguret, to fine dining at L'oustalet in Gigondas.

Sabine Suter is a is a local vigneron's daughter and she runs Provencal cookery classes from her home “La Grange Vieille”. Sabine and her husband Alex run a very well respected vineyard in the area - Domaine de l'Amandine, Seguret - and if you attend her cookery school you also get the added benefit of trying their wine! Sabine normally runs her cookery schools in the morning, for up to six people, and after cooking you sit on the terrace and enjoy your lunch (and wine!) with the family. If you are interested in attending a cookery class all contact information for booking a class can be sent to you on request.

For those of you who just want to relax and unwind: You will not find a more perfect place for unwinding. The house is set amongst vineyards and the garden has so many lovely shady areas for your afternoon siesta. The outside summer kitchen with BBQ means that all your meals can be taken outside taking in the lovely scenery. From our experience, the inside of the house gets used very little in the summer.

If you do feel energetic, you can put on your sunscreen, sunhat and walking shoes and walk across the vineyards to the lovely village of Seguret (which is just behind the house) and here you will find even more delightful restaurants to tempt you!

Perfect Provence Family Home

The location is fabulous. Views, private and with easy access to several nearby traditional towns. The property is very spacious. We were family of five and had space for being together and also for moments of individual seclusion. We used the pool extensively. High quality umbrellas and loungers. The dart board was a great bonus. I will always remember going to sleep with the window open overlooking the vineyards with the silence and stars. Then waking up to beautiful green and blue. Collette did a great job with easy check-in and check-out. I have done many VRBOs around the world and this was one of the best experiences of all.

Great location for a peaceful stay in France

Lovely home with lots of space both indoors and out (if you have kids), well-stocked kitchen, and beautiful views. Only 1/2 mile walk to center city. Good location for day trips to Orange, Pont du Gard, Avignon, and Vaison la Romaine. Highly recommended.

A beautiful house with wonderful views

We had a great fortnight after a dreadful experience with Hertz in Avignon. Caroline, the house manager, was fantastic in helping us find alternative car hire and really helpful through the entire stay. The house is truly beautiful and will-equipped. Being keen cooks we took full advantage of the new range cooker as well as the barbecue (not to mention the pool). There is a lovely walk through the vineyards to Seguret where we recommend Cote Terrasse for good, reasonably-priced food. A stay at St Amand is highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

Just perfect......

Our family had an amazing holiday in Sablet! We adored the proximity of the village (15 minute walk away) and being surrounded by vines. The house is very private and secluded - just perfect for relaxing and recharging your batteries! After touring the area it was delightful to come home to our private paradise of St Amand each day. We spent many carefree hours on the terrace, under the arbor eating with family and drinking rose. We so admired the breathtaking view of the village from here. it was a dream come true. Thank you so much for sharing your delightful property with us! We hope to return one day.

What a gem of a house

This house is even better than the photos show! The booking process was smooth and easy, mainly down to the owners being so organised. Thank you. We are a family of six - with four small children - and the house was just want we wanted. The owners are very much geared up to accommodate young guests: cots, high chairs, baby alarm were all provided for us. The house was spotless and very well maintained, the garden just lovely and safe for our children, the pool perfect. Our children were thrilled to see that they had their own special bedlinen and toiletries. A wonderful touch by the owners. The very cheerful House Manager helped us to settle in on arrival and before we knew it, we were enjoying our first glass of wine (provided by the owners) on the terrace! We had all our meals on the terrace, mainly BBQs, taking in the superb view of Sablet. We enjoyed picking the figs off the tree for breakfast each morning and our lazy walk to the village for bread became something we all looked forward to. Without any hesitation, we would recommend this property to everyone we know.

Relaxing in Provence

A wonderful holiday in a great area of France, staying in just the best house! The location, situation and facilities were exactly as described and shown in the photos. The house was spotless and beautiful maintained. The owners were so easy and polite to deal with, and so helpful in assisting with best travel arrangements for us to reach Sablet. We spent our days walking, visiting the local markets, eating out and relaxing by the beautiful pool. There are many more activities in the area if you have the energy! We would recommend staying at this property to anyone considering Provence for their next vacation. It's a perfect house for family.

Great house! Great holiday!

A very beautiful house in one of our favourite parts of France. We had the best holiday! The house is right in the middle of the vineyards, nestled in the Dentelles - just as the advert says. The listing description for this house is 100% accurate. You can take some fantastic walks and cycle rides straight out of the drive. It's a lovely 10 minute stroll to the lovely villages of Sablet and Seguret - both of which produce delicious wine. The house is extremely spacious, spotlessly clean, very stylish and comfortable and a perfect place for a family vacation. The owners were very helpful all through the booking process and then the very efficient House Manager takes over once you arrive at the house. We whole heartedly recommend this house for your next stay in Provence.

A hidden gem in Provence……

Everything about this vacation was relaxing. From our initial enquiry through to arriving at this perfect house, the owners were very friendly and did everything they could to ensure we had a great stay. Once we arrived, the wonderful House Manager looked after us. Helping us to familiarise ourselves with our vacation home, checking we had everything we needed, offering suggestions for restaurants and days out. The house is exactly as detailed on the advert: in the most wonderful setting, surrounded by vineyards and an easy 15-minute walk to the village for daily provisions. Lots of space inside and outside, spotlessly clean, everything you could possibly need was provided. We were five adults with two small babies. Cots, highchairs, diaper bins all offered and provided. The weather was very hot but the pool kept us cool and refreshed. Inside, the house remained cool. We did as the locals do: windows and shutters are kept closed from around 11 am to 6pm. It really worked! We would love to return. Would we recommend you stay here? Absolutely - don't hesitate in making a booking!

Our wonderful family holiday

We were so looking forward to our holiday in Provence and our stay at St Amand and we had the best holiday ever. The owners were extremely helpful and thoughtful. We received brilliant customer service from the owners and the house manager. The booking process was easy and very professional. The house is exactly as described, but even nicer than the photos show. The house is spotless and spacious with plenty of space for everyone - ideal for families. We were a family of seven, three generations all together, so space was important! The location is just perfect for a relaxing holiday. We fell in love with the area: visiting the markets, buying wonderful food to cook in the evenings, wine tasting, trying local restaurants, hiking, cycling, swimming in the crystal clear pool - we did it all! We will return and would recommend this house to anyone looking for a holiday in Provence.

A lovely area and a wonderful house…

We were delighted with our stay at St Amand. Everything was just as the advert shows. Dealing with the Owners was a very pleasant experience. They couldn’t do enough for us. Booking was simple and easy with the Owners keeping in touch at all times, even calling us just before we left Australia to wish us a safe journey! This is a lived in and loved family home – so it’s very easy to relax from the moment you arrive. The house is light, airy and uncluttered – and exceptionally clean. The beds are so comfortable and the bed linen beautiful. Each of the bathrooms had a very generous supply of towels, along with a hairdryer and shower gel and soap. If you love cooking, you really will enjoy using the very well equipped kitchen. Shopping for food at the market in Vaison La Romaine was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed plenty of BBQ meals as well sitting by the pool. The Owners leave plenty of information about the area and a very useful house guide. We explored the area, enjoyed lots of delicious wine from the area, did a cookery class and enjoyed many pleasant walks, but we also made time to enjoy relaxing by the pool, with pool towels being provided. Our stay flew by, and we were very sad to have to leave this perfect spot in Provence but we hope to return very soon. Thank you for sharing your home!

Wonderful family holiday

I wanted to take my family on a memorable family holiday so the location and property were important to us. We were not disappointed by either. We had been to the area briefly once before and knew there was lots to see and do particularly for wine lovers. Sitting round the table in the shade lingering over breakfast, lunch or dinner became part of our daily routine. When it all got too hot the fabulous pool was there to cool us off. With a fully equipped kitchen and an outside kitchen area it was much appreciated by the foodie in our group! Four equally sized bedrooms make sure no one has to worry about the box room.... spotlessly clean too! A memorable holiday.

Our family escape to Provence

This was the perfect place for meeting up with our grown up family who are scattered around Europe. The area is stunning and unspoilt; Sablet is a working wine village. The house is just perfect for families. We were six adults with plenty of space. It was easy to find your own quiet space if you needed it…in the house or in the garden. The house was beautifully clean and very well equipped. The pool was crystal clear and helped us to keep cool in the wonderful summer heat. The booking and payment process was dealt with in a professional and friendly way. The owners were very helpful in assisting us when it came to arranging our travel. We did a wine tour and a cookery school - all information being provided by the owners. We also walked, swam and had siestas by the pool! For renters with a greater sense of adventure there are many walks and cycle trails in the area. The owners leave comprehensive information about the area and activities available. We enjoyed all of our meals outside – the BBQ and outside kitchen being well used by us. We enjoyed making the most of the lovely fresh local food that we shopped for at the many local markets (again, a very comprehensive list of local markets being left in the Information File), all washed down by the wonderful local wines. We booked to eat at a couple of restaurants recommended by the owners. L’Oustalet in Gigondas being our favourite! Sitting on the terrace at night with the amazing view of Sablet in the distance was just wonderful. The sunsets were pretty spectacular. We highly recommend staying in this lovely house - it really is nestled among the vineyards.

Pleasant property close to nice village

Spacious property with a good layout . Six adults in our party , plenty of places to sit inside and out . Kitchen well equipped ,Beds comfortable , shower rooms adequate ( Only two toilets ). It was really nice to eat outside on the patio in the evenings enjoying the sunsets with a gorgeous view of Sablet . I have given it four stars instead of five for the following reasons: It is now looking a little tired in places, outside could do with paint . Swimming pool is a little dated (shallow) and needs some TLC! Fine for young children.. maybe not so enticing for adults. However it's location is really good , we enjoyed exploring the area and did lots of wine tasting !

Just wonderful!

Staying at St Amand was a delight. This was our last week of a four week trip to France and it was the perfect end to our wonderful holiday. We mainly stayed in and around Sablet. Shopping in the village each morning and relaxing by the pool in the afternoons became our routine. The weather was lovely for September which meant we used the BBQ most of the time, eating outside taking in the splendid views from the terrace. We would highly recommend a stay at St Amand: the house is spotless, you have everything you could possibly need, and the owners are very engaging and pleasant to deal with. We hope to return.

A relaxing, warm winter retreat in Provence

Our family had a wonderful stay at the St Amand villa, located in expansive, open vineyards, just outside of the historical village of Sablet, over the festive-new year period. Of course it was cool, being winter, but the weather remained friendly for us and the skies were blue and clear. The villa is spacious and extremely well equipped for any guests and occasions, with abundant living areas, and very warm and cosy. Following a two week traveling family holiday through the UK, it was a godsend to unwind and relax in such a beautiful and comfortable setting. We mixed enjoying spending time as a family together in the villa, cooking ourselves in a wonderful kitchen, with exploring the Vaucluse region - the vineyards and farms, the villages, the restaurants, Mont Ventoux, the Roman history, and the more modern Provence history. Linda, the villa manager, combined with Rosie, the owner, were of great assistance in all aspects of our stay, and made everything very simple for us mostly non-French speaking people, from clear arrival details, and throughout our entire stay. We thank them very much for their attention and hospitality. We were very content with our stay and would come again anytime.

Wonderful house in wonderful setting.

You might wonder looking at the photos if this property can really be this lovely, it is! The owners obviously love their home and have taken a lot of care to set up everything you might need to enjoy your stay. The housekeeper meets you to show you round then you sit back and enjoy this wonderful place in Provence. Eating on the terrace with the wonderful view of Sablet is magical as were the shooting stars we were lucky to see on several evenings! We would love to still be there and hope to return.

A beautiful property in a pretty village

This house is even more beautiful than the photos show. Booking was easy and dealing with the owners, a delight. It is a pretty, spacious house in a very private setting in the middle of vineyards, off a private lane just outside of Sablet. With a pool and lots of outdoor seating/dining areas – some shaded from the sun - it is perfect for outdoor living. We made good use of the built-in and covered barbecue area and had all our meals outside. The interior and exterior of the house are beautifully maintained. The kitchen is completely equipped with everything you could possibly need. On arrival you are met by the House Manager who helps you to settle in – a nice touch. The owners leave lots of maps, brochures, etc. in the house for the area, there was a very detailed house guide that covered just about every topic, and the comfortably furnished upstairs living room has a very large selection of books. The pretty village of Sablet is an easy walk away, and it has everything you need...2 bakeries, a small grocery store, a bank, a butcher, a chemist, a tourist office/cave, a bar, a pizza restaurant and a really excellent Michelin Starred restaurant close by. The towns of Gigondas, Séguret, Vacqueras, and Beaumes de Venise, with good food and wine are only a few kilometers away, and Vaison-la-Romaine, the nearest "big" town is only 11k away. This is a perfect house to use as a base for walking and biking...there are a number of marked walks and bike rides that run right through Sablet; for touring around the area; for doing nothing but sitting quietly by the pool and reading a book. The view of Sablet from the dining table on the terrace at sunset is quite spectacular. Stay here if you can! I recommend it highly.

A wonderful place to stay

We love Provence and have stayed at many places in this area over the years. This year we decided to stay at St Amand in Sablet. A wonderful choice…. The booking process was friendly, simple and professional. The house was exactly as the owners had said it would be – spacious, beautifully clean, simply furnished with quality items, and in a delightful private situation. We were a family of five and we had plenty of space to spread out and it is easy to find your own private spot to relax if you want to. There are lots of shady areas in the garden for your afternoon siesta. The pool was crystal clear and very inviting. The house is run very efficiently with a House Manager to meet and greet you, gardeners that visit weekly and a pool man that also visits weekly. The kitchen is very well equipped, including an impressive professional stove. It’s obvious that the owners love to cook! We mainly cooked on the BBQ in the outside kitchen and all of our meals were enjoyed outside sitting on the terrace. Wonderful….. The village of Sablet is a very easy walk away – about 15 minutes – and here we found everything we needed for our every day provisions: a butcher, 2 bakeries, a small grocery store, and a bank. If needed, there are also supermarkets close by in Sarrians, Carpentras and Vaison la Romaine. There are lots of activities in the area. We hired bikes from Vaison and enjoyed exploring the local area and vineyards. The owners leave comprehensive information about the area, including walking and cycling maps. We were very reluctant to leave and would happily have stayed another week if there had been availability for us to do so. We would certainly recommend you stay here if you can!

Tranquil stay in rural Provence

We really enjoyed our stay at St Armand. The house is surrounded by vineyards, with some really spectacular views towards Sablet from the terrace. It is a great place to experience rural Provence. The house is large and well equipped; there were only two of us on this holiday, but it would easily accommodate quite a large family. Lots of space inside and outside, with a good pool and barbecue area. We found lots to do in the region, including visits to Orange and to Vaison la Romaine. Seguret would be quite easy to walk to; we made the mistake of driving there. Really interesting and tasty restaurants nearby – les Abeilles in Sablet; and we were very lucky to find Tuilleries for a good value, rural Provencal experience. Yes; we’ll be back.

Our wonderful stay at St Amand, Sablet

We had the most wonderful relaxing family holiday in Sablet. Such a pretty small village – just as we all imagined it would be. This was our first visit to France and we cannot wait to return. We choose this beautiful house, St Amand, as our base. We couldn't have wished for anything better. Dealing with the owners was easy, the booking process uncomplicated and they were exceptionally helpful. St Amand is gorgeous! The photos and description are absolutely spot on. The whole place is beautifully clean, uncluttered, very tastefully furnished and very well appointed. Everything we needed, we found. On arrival, we were met and greeted by the very friendly house manager. She helped us to settle in after our long journey before leaving us to relax and plan our days. The owners leave a very generous Welcome Pack – the local wine being enjoyed by all of us later that evening whilst sitting on the terrace and enjoying the magnificent views of the village. Quite spectacular. All your daily needs are easily catered for in the village of Sablet without the need for driving. There are numerous weekly markets in the area, the nearest one being in Vaison La Romaine. A visit is highly recommended! There is so much to do in this area: We visited some of the very pretty villages in the area, Gordes, Sault, Segueret, Gigondas, Vacqueras, Beaumes de Venise to name a few. We went on a wine tasting course with Olivier Hickman, we did a cookery course with Sabine Suter, we walked in the Dentilles. Oh yes – and we also spent days simply relaxing by the pool and enjoying the tranquillity of St Amand. We have no hesitation in recommending St Amand to any future guests. Indeed, we would encourage you to book. You will not be disappointed.

Relax in Provence

Tucked away in the beautiful countryside of Provence, is St Armand. A relaxing and peaceful jewel of a house with its surrounding gardens of lavender bushes, olive and fruit trees and neighbouring vineyards. The house itself is superbly equipped and everything you might need is there and of high quality and well maintained. The bedrooms are well furnished and the extremely comfortable beds encourage afternoon siestas and dreamy nights' sleep. The pool area is delightful with comfortable sun beds and umbrellas, and the trees too provide dappled light under which to shelter from the sun if needs be. Watching the sun go down on Sablet provides a glorious backcloth for dinner on the terrace. There is plenty to see in the surrounding areas, if you feel the need to go out and explore, and Sablet has some friendly restaurants and shops - beware the patisseries! All the descriptions of this beautiful holiday villa are more than accurate and I would recommend it to others wholeheartedly. Visited once, returning is a case of when, not if.

A stunning house in a beautiful area

We planned our stay at St Amand following a recommendation from friends who had stayed here during the summer of 2012. We were thrilled by the house: it's very spacious, extremely well maintained and cared for, spotlessly clean and perfectly prepared by the house manager. The garden was also a delight, with lots of space and shade. We did one big shop at a supermarket en route to the house - the owner provided all information for doing this prior to our arrival. Anything else we needed on a daily basis, such as the fresh criossants and bread, which we all became addicted to, we found in the local shops in the village of Sablet, stopping for a morning coffee at the Bar des Sports. We visited the local markets in Vaison and Carpentras, we had a morning visit to Gordes and tested out many local restaurants! And we also found time to enjoy the beautiful garden and relax around the crystal clear pool. We were very reluctant to leave, and we plan to return - but for a longer stay next time. We would heartily recommend a stay at St Amand.

Heaven in the Provinces

The holiday was everything we have come to expect from Provence. St Armand is nestled amongst the vineyards with fantastic views of Sablet. We spent hours gazing upon the village, devouring croissants, patés, cheeses and quaffing wine. The house is exceptionally kept and provides everything you could need. The pool provided fantastic relief from the mid-day sun. A great hit with the adults, as well as the kids. You can while away the days quite easily at the house as there is plenty of room. Alternatively venture out to many of the close by villages and towns like Gigondas, Séguret, Beaumes-de-Venise, and Vaison-la-Romaine. In essence we had fun, and would recommend this place 100%. Thanks for letting have a slice of heaven.
