About this property

Yogi's Yurt - Miska Haven - Serenity on the Shuswap River in North Okanagan

Nestled under a canopy of cedars, Yogi's Yurt is an ideal setting for solo, couple and group retreats, or a home base for you and your family or friends to enjoy all that nature has to offer in the surrounding area. The yurt sleeps up to five in a single-over-queen bunk bed and double sofa bed (linens and bath towels provided). Built into the surrounding deck are your private washroom facilities (with incinerating toilet and running cold water sink) and open-air, hot water shower with a view of the river! Also available outside are a BBQ, dining table and chairs, high bar table and chairs, adirondack chairs, and firepit. Inside the yurt, the kitchen area is equipped with a small sink, cold water dispenser, mini frig, dual element induction stove, toaster, kettle and coffee maker, and all the basic cooking and eating utensils for a "better-than-glamping" experience. Complete with a clear venting dome roof and five screened windows, you will feel embraced by the warmth of the sun and the shade of the forest. Come soak up the beauty of the Shuswap River... enjoy a morning sunrise on the deck, a midday fish, swim or float from the dock, and an evening campfire along the shore! With 1800 feet of riverfront and 15 acres of woods, there is no shortage of nature to enjoy on our property. Located just 10 minutes east of Enderby on the north-south Okanagan corridor, 40 minutes south of the TransCanada Hwy halfway between Vancouver and Calgary, and an hour from Kelowna's international airport, we welcome travelers from far and wide. Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend, an extended vacation, or want to plan a romantic getaway, wedding, family reunion, or gathering of friends, Miska Haven is the perfect setting.

Accommodations consist of two private units - a cabin and a yurt - nestled in the woods, set back from the river and secluded from our home. With a booking of either unit, guests may inquire directly to book RV/trailer/tent sites at an extra charge. The cabin is pet-free to accommodate other guests with allergies; cabin guests' pets are allowed on the property but must be kenneled outside. Pets are welcome to stay in the yurt for a fee but must be accompanied at all times. Guests share access to a gazebo, firepit, picnic tables, pond and dock; the river is accessible from the dock for swimming, fishing, tubing, kayaking or canoeing.

The Okanagan is renowned for its orchards, cideries, breweries and wineries, as well as a host of outdoor activities...
- swimming/tubing/boating/fishing on the Shuswap River or nearby lakes
- hiking Enderby Cliffs or Rose Swanson Trails
- road biking from our doorstep, mountain biking on the Okanagan Rail Trail or at Silver Star Mountain Resort
- golf at one of 7 courses within 30 minutes
- nordic skiing at Larch Hills or Sovereign Lake, alpine skiing at Silver Star, Big White, Revelstoke, or Sun Peaks
- snowmobiling at Hunters Range

Miska Haven is the perfect “home base" for these outdoor activities or the ideal place to just kick back, relax and recharge your batteries!

Beautiful location, charming accommodation
We enjoyed a very relaxing week in this quiet and private riverside location. Sitting in the shade of the trees, or evenings on the dock, we were surrounded by so much beauty. Love the yurt experience, fresh air and the sounds of nature. It had everything we needed for comfort and cooking meals. Spent time on the river everyday, off the dock, finding beaches, doing a float (thanks to our hosts for shuttling us). Look forward to returning to this location.

Serenity on the river
I can't say enough good things about Miska Haven and it's hosts, Dave and Diane. The property is gorgeous, with forest trails, river walks, and long sits on the dock; I spent two nights here and left feeling rested and recharged by nature and good vibes all around. The yurt was glamping at it's best; everything I needed was provided including coffee maker, toaster, fridge and dish ware. The bunkbed was comfy and view of the river in the morning was so beautiful I could almost make my morning coffee go all day. Dave and Diane are wonderful people for sharing this special part of the world with anyone lucky enough to come for a visit. This place was a perfect retreat and I can't wait to go back.

Pet Friendly Glamping Family Vacation
We really enjoyed our stay at Yogi’s Yurt. Dave and Diane were excellent hosts and their property is beautiful. The outdoor shower was a nice feature and the Yurt was well stocked with essential items to make our stay more comfortable. The highlight was by far floating the river into town which took appropriately 5.5 hours. There were many places to hop off for swim too along the way. This was something our whole family enjoyed including the dog. Thanks again for a great stay. We will definitely try to visit again at some point.

5 star Yurting!
We decided to do something out of the ordinary with our teens and booked a couple of nights in Yogi’s Yurt. We loved the experience and couldn’t think of anything that was missing. The weather wasn’t on our side so didn’t get a chance to do the river float, which we would have loved to do. But there was a certain beauty to listening to sounds of the rain from the Yurt. The property is beautiful and Diane and Dave are great hosts!! Worth every penny!

Private Paradis
We very much enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful, and spacious. It was very quiet and peaceful even with people staying in the cabin. Great service, nice hosts, very clean. Only down side was, due to all the recent rain, the property was flooded closer to the river. Yurt was very comfortable and well equipped. Really enjoyed the outdoor hot shower.

Bea-yurt-iful Riverfront Glamping Paradise!!
Nestled under the trees looking out to the river is every amenity for a unique and spectacular stay. Sleeping in a Yurt has been on our bucket list and we check it off with a smile. Everything from comfortable beds and wine glasses to the induction stove and river view hot shower, we enjoyed the outdoor living experience combined with a skylight roof over our heads. A perfect balance! Dave and Diane were fantastic hosts answering every question promptly, providing local intel and even driving us to a launch point so that we could float the river back home. Fireside stories at sunset provided a vista that melted away the troubles of elsewhere. The BBQ, biking and the bathroom all rank as additional highlights. Seriously, that last one is a luxury in the woods. Miska-Haven is a very special place that we will definitely return to.

A Paradise Getaway
Diane and Dave have truly outdone theirselves at this riverside paradise. My 5 friends and I stayed in the yurt for two nights and it exceeded our expectations. The pictures don’t even begin to give the property justice. It’s exceptionally clean and comfortable. Everything is new and well taken care of. Diane and Dave go above and beyond to ensure that you’re stay is one to remember. We will all be returning in the future!!

About the host

Hosted by Miska Haven

Host profile image
The owners and your hosts at Miska Haven are Diane and Dave Quinn, who recently retired and moved to the Okanagan from Calgary. They were captivated by the property when they first saw it and feel blessed to now call it home. Having also just married in 2018, they are adjusting to their new life together and learning the ropes of maintaining a rural property and running a B&B. Lots of fun and misadventures along the way – or perhaps we should call them “MISKA-dventures“!

Diane and Dave are keen skiers, hikers, cyclists, golfers, paddlers and swimmers, so they have come to the right place! In their first year at Miska Haven, they were swimming regularly in the river (including a Polar Bear Plunge on Jan 1st), paddling and tubing the river, hiking the Enderby Cliffs, biking the backroads, and skiing downhill and cross-country. The opportunities are endless!

Why they chose this property

Diane has family roots in the Okanagan which date back to the early 1900’s, so it’s not surprising she feels at home here. Her maternal great grandparents (James & Pauline Mowat) moved from New Brunswick to Enderby in 1905 to start a sawmill at Mara. Just four years later, at age 14, her grandfather, Patrick Mowat, began his banking career with the Bank of Montreal in Enderby, which remains on Cliff Ave. Patrick trained for the military in the Enderby Drill Hall where Diane and Dave now do yoga! Diane’s mother recounts her father’s memories and how he often spoke about his younger years growing up out west “in God’s country.” Seems fitting for Diane and Dave to name the property Miska Haven as they discovered that, in Hebrew, the name Miska means “Gift from God.”
