About this property
Tranquil Oceanfront Trip Back in Time
This late 1800's family farmhouse is a house with a heart. It has an updated outer appearance with the inside history of where the Bagley family grew up. Many rooms have been lovingly restored while leaving the rustic feel and many original features from the good 'ole days. There is a new 20 inch apartment size kitchen stove; the same size Rudy's mom used to cook all of their meals on from scratch. The wire hooks remain in the kitchen where the family would hang their coats. The dining room has a new dining room table to seat 8. The living room has 2 reclining sofas and some chairs to allow the entire family to sit around and visit or play games. We have a t.v. in the living room, along with a roku, and the internet. Just connect your streaming services that you use at home. The downstairs bathroom has a shower and the upstairs bathroom has a bathtub with shower. There are 4 bedrooms ready for you to get the best sleep you've had in years, smelling the country air and listening to the crickets chirping. At dusk you will want to look out on the back lawn under the apple trees. The deer love to hang out there. In the morning you can take your coffee and the camp chairs out by the bank as a peaceful way to start your day. The bank is steep and the water is tidal. We will also give you access to a piece of land we have a short distance from the house where you can access the water more easily.
There is so much to explore on the coast of Maine. We are approximately 1 hour from Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park in one direction, and from Roques Bluffs, Jasper Beach, Machias in the other direction. It is about 40 minutes to Schoodic Point. Milbridge Common Wellness Partk is about 10 minutes way in the center of Milbridge (87 Main Street) and McClellan Park is about 15 minutes away on the other side of Milbridge (Take Wyman Rd. to Tom Leighton Point Rd).

We had an incredible experience staying at this historic farm home. It's rare to find a place nearly 125 years old to stay in. The home and its surroundings were wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet just a short drive to the conveniences in Milbridge. We enjoyed breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and took a brief 1.5-hour drive to Roosevelt Park in Canada. We can't wait to return!
We had a family of 7 in town for a wedding and the house was perfect! We enjoyed having so many deer on the property and of course the beautiful sunrise each morning.
Loved the location and fun seeing deer every evening! We did bike trips and hikes all around Acadia area. Drove a little but loved coming back after our fun day.
Thankful for this place of rest.
Our grown children who live in neighboring states met us in Maine for a long weekend together.
The house has lots of vintage charm and a welcoming soul.
The kitchen, dining and living rooms were the perfect size for our group. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Everyone but me slept well (I'm a VERY high maintenance sleeper and should have brought my own pillows)
The property is beautiful and secluded. The ocean is very close but not noisy this area is more of an estuary than beachfront.
It was a wonderful trip. I wish we had been able to stay several more days!
We brought our family here for a week-long stay, and had a great time! The house is within an hour and a half of both the easternmost point in the continental US and Bar Harbor/Acadia. We visited both, as well as several closer beaches. The only quibble is that the kitchen could be a little better stocked in terms of cooking/baking tools; e.g. no whisk, spatula/scraper, or water pitcher (we used a quart jar, which worked okay).
The hosts are very communicative, and readily addressed any questions/issues we had. We would not hesitate to use the place again.
We have stayed at this house on several occasions. We enjoy the comfort, cleanliness, and amenities of the house as well as its capacity to accommodate larger groups. So many of the rentals in the area are limited to six or less people. Also, we enjoy its Bar Harbor location – while Milbridge is a beautiful coastal town, it is also a midway point between the splendor of /Acadia National Park and the Bold Coast towns Machias, Eastport and Lubec. We look forward to a return visit.
We had a very enjoyable stay at Ida's and Rudy's house. The house was very clean and had everything necessary for a homey visit. Kitchen was well appointed for eating in and the living room had comfortable couches for kicking back and lounging. Although we only had a few in our party, the house is well suited for a large group. Rudy and Ida were very receptive and prompt in all of our communications. We like Milbridge very much and look forward to a return visit and stay at Ida and Rudy's family home.
We were looking for a place to stay that would be quiet and away from the summer crowds/traffic for some needed downtime, while at the same time be close enough to the more touristy areas for some day trips should we want a change of pace. Luckily, we found Ida and Rudy's place in Milbridge and it was perfect. Quiet, clean, and relaxing in a beautiful setting, yet only a little over an hour's drive to Bar Harbor and the wonderful Acadia National Park. Another plus of this place is that the house sits in a fairly open and large expanse of lawn and if you are a star gazer, you will be in heaven. The stars are beautiful and bright with many constellations readily apparent. All in all, a wonderful vacation at a wonderful place.
We were in Milbridge for a family wedding. A small Maine town. Very few but good options for restaurants. We ate brunch at the Milbridge House, the food was delicious. There is a dollar general and grocery store in town for all our needs. We cooked out on the grill 2 nights. The house was equipped with all that we needed. There was 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms as depicted in the description. The house was exactly as described. There is definitely some need for some improvements. The doors did not close tight. The house is outdated and has a lot of potential. The out door space is amazing. Lots of lawn. I sat out at the cliff each morning and enjoyed my coffee. No easy way down to the water. That would be a fun addition, along with outdoors living/sitting space. The stars at night were absolutely breath taking. All in all it was good for our short stay. It had all we needed. The host was a quick message away with any info we needed. Would recommend for a family traveling needing a place to stay.
Overall we liked the vacation home. The home has lot of room, liked the second floor rooms and the bathroom with nice view to the huge well maintained backyard with also ocean view. In the mornings, enjoyed watching the deers in the backyard (with mama, papa, 5 deers were there overall), apple trees and lot of space to walk around the property. New grill is available to use.
Grocery store is just a 5 minutes away!
On the suggestions for improvement -
a. given the property is remotely located (at least from my view), security system would give extra peace of mind, specially during the night time and when you go out of home for long hours etc.
b. Some of the doors of the rooms were not closing properly.
c. If you do not have a strong cell phone signal (based on your service provider), you might find it a bit challenging connecting with your network, as the place does not have the internet
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much, thank you Rudy and Ida!
