About this property

Sprawling, Rustic Country Estate with Spring-Fed Swim Pond & Tennis Ct

Huge, sprawling, 6,000 sq ft country estate situated on 10 acres of land which include both a 1/2 acre spring-fed swimming pond with a sand beach and tennis court (hard court). The property features a huge landscaped lawn, massive deck overlooking the lawn, pond and tennis court, a vegetable garden, a fireplace room, eat in stainless steel renovated kitchen, breakfast room, 'great room' surrounded by windows overlooking the property, a greenhouse room, basement play area, large TV room (featuring 42'' plasma TV and numerous couches) and a massive bedroom that has a king bed as well as two single beds. The house itself is an homage to rustic country living, with wood beamed ceilings, wood and stone accents throughout, and furnished giving it a soft, cozy feel. This house is PERFECT for one, two, or three families looking to retreat for a week. See bottom of page for info regarding furnishings / activities.

Furnishings: The property is nicely furnished. There are beds in all the of the bedrooms (some with full beds, some queen, some king), couches all over the house (in the Great room, in the kitchen, in the study, and in the TV room), and numerous tables for dining. There are two 'master bedrooms' which feature the king beds, TVs (with DirectTV), private full bathrooms, walk-in closets, and air conditioning. 4 of the bedrooms (two masters, large dormitory bedroom, and one other) have air conditioning. The rest of the house does NOT have AC. There are tennis rackets and balls, a coal grill, gas grill, all kitchenware, deck chairs, and all sorts of pool floats including an anchored circular float in the middle of the pond that can fit 6 adults, a canoe, and other blow up boats and floats. We have slip'n'slides, badminton/volleyball net, tire swings attached to trees, a wooden swinging garden chaise, and a picnic table on the deck.

You may bring your own linens and towels. There is a $250 linen fee for the use of our linens and towels.

What this house is perfect for: This house is PERFECT for one two or three families seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and retreat to a true sprawling rustic country estate. It is especially perfect for kids, because a lot of the furnishings have been made with children in mind. There are tons of toys and games, and the pond, tire swings, and lawn make for an especially rewarding time with children. It is also great for adults - read on the deck overlooking the property (we have a huge book collection), play tennis, go for a walk or run, swim or fish in the pond (small mouth bass), or sunbathe on the beach, cook, or enjoy a movie in the TV room.

Making memories happens here.

This is the absolute perfect home for a family gathering. My two children, their spouses and a total of 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 11, along with us, the grandparents, spent a delightful week enjoying the wonderful swimming pond, the adorable tree house and the tennis courts. We explored the area on two of the mornings, riding on the Harlem Rail Trail and taking an easy hike to Bash Bish Falls. The furnishings are very tastefully done but not ostentatious. Don't be afraid to bring kids here -it is made for them, complete with a playroom (perfect for legos) downstairs. We each had our own space at night, making it easy to put little ones to bed. The Whites are lovely people. They were more than accommodating and were perfect hosts. We enjoyed meeting them two weeks before we stayed at their beautiful home and they were so welcoming. We had a few more people drop in the last Saturday we were there and were able to find food, drinks, etc. right in Chatham, about 7 miles away. So very convenient. There are also little shops and restaurants and delis that are very interesting to explore. I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives. The ammenities keep young and old alike very happy. You will not be disappointed!

fantastic reunion venue

We held an old-friends reunion here with several families with young kids, and absolutely loved it. The place is exactly as advertised and quite large. We will be back.

Wonderful Family Vacation House

This is our second year in Chatham and we plan on returning next year. The property is clean and well-maintained, has all the amenities of home, and comfortably accommodates our large family (21 of us, including three school-age children and two babies). Apart from an occasional round of golf, we have no need to go anywhere else . . . the fresh water pond is great for swimming, kayaking and fishing, the tennis court and basketball hoop provide hours of friendly competition, and the large rolling lawn is great for Frisbee golf and other games. Additionally, the local area is great for walking/running/biking. The house itself is very spacious and we can all be indoors without feeling crowded. The two dining rooms comfortably accommodate mealtime, and the large and well-appointed deck is great for relaxing with coffee in the morning and for grilling at night. The owners are hospitable and responsive to their guests’ needs. We would highly recommend this property. Thanks for another great stay!

Perfect - Roomy & Homey

This is our second stay at this property, both during the winter, and really we love it. There are 10 kids & 10 adults in our group and plenty of room for us all. There are a lot of different sleeping options and distinct areas for play and socializing so that you never feel on top of each other. Seating for meals is equally abundant and all the adults can sit together at once, as can all the kids. The owners are very nice and use the property themselves so it is well-cared for because it is obviously well-loved. There is a playroom in the basement for kids, which is an extra bonus, and the kitchen is more than well-equipped, as is the pantry. The surrounding land is itself substantial and there's plenty to enjoy about it even in winter. We also went on nearby hikes, visited the town, and went to nearby farms. I have rented many properties over the years and cannot recommend this one more strongly. If you are a big group, it works fantastically. If you have kids along, you'll still have plenty of room for sleep and play, which actually makes for a truly relaxing getaway. Thank you very much to the owners-we hope to see you again next year!

Wonderful house and property for large groups

We were at the house for a family reunion having 6 adults and 3 children ages ranging 3 to 7 years old. The property is beautiful, as you can see in the pictures. We played a lot of tennis. We loved the pond, the water was clear and pleasant for swimming, really fun for the kids. The house is very large and comfortable. It has everything you need, most bedrooms have their own bathroom and TV. Tons of DVDs to watch and board games. We love the region...as you are close to Lenox and Great Barrington. Relatives that came with us loved the house so much that now they are looking to buy their own house in the area! The owner was very responsive to our needs.

Wonderful family reunion location

This property was the perfect place for our family reunion. The house is clean, spacious and well-appointed, and the grounds are expansive and well-maintained. We had a week of near-perfect weather and enjoyed being outdoors, sitting on the deck, grilling, swimming, fishing, and playing tennis. We shot some "hoop" and played frisbee golf in the yard, and took a number of walks and bike rides on the lovely country roads. The children loved the pond, the playroom and all the water toys. The adults loved that the kids were content and playing in a safe environment. The parents could actually relax and enjoy themselves!! On the only day it rained, all 22 of us remained comfortably inside and never felt crowded. And on the evening before we left, we used the great room to bless and celebrate a recent (military) marriage that no family had been able to attend. The ceremony was lovely and the room perfectly accommodated all of us. Simply put, we had a great week and hope to return next year. Thanks very much for sharing your lovely home!

Spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable

16 of us ranging in age from 2 to 84 stayed at the house and it worked well for everyone. The kids spent hours in the pond, there were plenty of comfortable places to sit, the littlest kids enjoyed the swings...The layout of the house provided places to gather as well as places to find some peace and quiet. The open kitchen made it possible for lots of us to cook together. The house had everything we needed from plenty of pots and pans to pond toys, bibs, and birthday candles! We hope to stay here again.

Family Gathering Place in NY

We were extremely happy with the house and arrangements for it. It was very comfortably furnished. Our large family gathering could spread all over the house and grounds but get in the big room when desired. The tennis court, basketball court, games and chess set, very well supplied kitchen and helpful pantry, TVs, many bedrooms and baths were all used along with a few couches for sleeping. The pond was very entertaining for kids with clear water with plenty of water toys. All of our guests were happy with the arrangements.

Great house for groups!

I stayed at this house with a group of 10 - 12 of college friends for a weekend and really enjoyed it. The outdoor space is really great for sports, grilling or just hanging out at all times of the day. Between the tennis court, the pond and the yard we were able to keep active all day. The interior of the house is very rustic and the open living room area is a great room to hang out in. The owner was really upfront, honest and helpful throughout the planning, stay and follow-up process. We couldn't have asked for anything more. I'd also recommend dinner one night at the Chatham House - it was a great place for a large group.

Great weekend getaway

A bunch of my college friends and I stayed here for a weekend and we had a great time. Everything inside and outside the house is well maintained. There were thirteen of us and there more than enough beds. The kitchen was user friendly, and clean. The deck is spacious, and the yard is humungous. There was plenty of grilling supplies including multiple flavors of wood chips. The water in the pond was warm and clean. The owners even bought a basketball hoop just prior to our arrival. I would highly recommend this place for a nice way to get away from the fast paced city environment.

Wonderful Property

Our extended family spent a week at this country property and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were delighted with the accomadations and the hospitality of the owners. The pantry was well stocked with everyday staples for our use. The new kitchen was an added bonus. We enjoyed the tennis court, swimming, fishing and kayaking in the pond. Plenty of nearby attractions to visit. We went to the Norman Rockwell Museum, Hancock Shaker Museum and Hyde Park to name a few places. Some family members also enjoyed hiking at Black Mountain State Park and Mount Greylock. The owners were very attentive to our needs and responded quickly to all our questions. We would definitly stay there again and highly recommend this vacation home.

Wonderful Home!

We travelled from the Caribbean to this beautiful home and could not have asked for more! It was everything the website described and I cannot say enough about it. We were four families including 7 children ranging in ages from 3 to 9 and it would be fair to say that the house had absolutely everything they needed to keep them entertained from the playroom to the pond! They swam, fished, canoed, played tennis and roasted marshmallows and when it rained they played games in the playroom and watched movies. The house itself was immaculate, had plenty of space with very comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. The owner was extremely helpful and made the whole process a breeze and we also met the neighbors who came over and were very kind in offering advice about things to do in the area. We enjoyed the house so much that we didn't feel the need to leave but we did manage to get out and visit a farm where the kids picked strawberries and blueberries as well as a trip to a local fun park. Thank you so much for making our vacation so memorable and we will definitely be recommending it to our friends.
